1.0.2 compatibility with 1.0.1c missions
nemises replied to faker_404's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
...1.0.1c Missions should work fine in 1.0.2 :) , just not tracks as you have said. -
great work Cybord.. Cooper, I believe powershell is intergrated into win7 ...

You've hit the nail on the head there.... we "simply" need more organised invite / signup events. Damn shame that there is a HUGE amount of work involved in doing one ... would be nice to maybe run an event 2 or 3 times in a row (for those who cannot make the first, or didn't make it in etc..), rather than spacing 1 event out over a quarter. ...so many possibilties with the new ME for some incredible online experiences (live aFAC's, events triggered by admins...etc...)

Having said that, Lockon will let you throw missles at eachother in a turning fight! (ones that are, at this time tweaked to be as near to the real thing a the engine allows by people who are in the know!). If you like the idea of notching, fpole / epole, or even just generally ECM spamming and sneaking about then Lockon is a GREAT sim ... it really is good for "the fight" which is where it gets most exciting for a lot of folks... what it doesnt have is a complicated system behind the "end effect" (ie radar's) , though they are complicated enough, modelling low / high PRF, doppler notching, ECM burnthrough etc... But if following procedure, and dropping bombs are your thing, BS is the superior sim of course.

Hi Bestandskraft, The problem you are likely seeing is the caching (or non-caching on your case!) of textures for the cockpit. What happens in general terms is each new texture is loaded and "cached" (or saved in other words) into the memory that your video card has on board. Different people have differnt amounts of video memory, and once this is filled up, textures are then stored in main memory (your RAM), and ultimately they can also be stored in "virtual memory" (on your hard drive!). When you change views significantly, it's possible for a whole bunch of new textures to be called up and placed into video memory becasue this has the fastest access for your video card to display from. However, as above if your vid card memory is full, the new textures might "replace" the spot of old cahced textures , such as the cockpit textures, and force them to be stored either in main memory, or virtual memory. As a result, when switching back to the cockpit, it can take some time for the cockpit textures to be re-sourced (this time from virtual memory for example), and you can see the issue. A quick solution to this is as follows: 1) get a video card with more memory :) 2) lower the texture resolution (in options, setting, detail) so that more textures can fit in vid memory 3) lower the "cockpit resolution" also (same as number two but specifically for the cockpit) If you lower the amount of space used up by textures, then they should all fit in Vid memory, and you will see many less instances of slow-chaced textures going forward. Hope this helps!

wasnt it based on #52 ?

It can depend on the facilities / vehicles that are at the landing point.. If a FARP, then there must be several vehicles for comms and re-fuelling. Most airfields (if not all?) are allready equiped with what is required. And so, the things to check are....do you have the radio set to Gnd (english) or HON (russian). Are you at a farp?.. if yes, are the necessary vehicles there for comms and refuelling? Do you have your radio's turned on? (you must have the Radios powered to hear any responce from the ground crew)... to do so, enable your batteries, and switch on the radio stack (several switches on the lower right hand wall near front). As others have suggested, if the issue continues, please post a track.. it's a complicated Sim, and many many variables are at play...a track is the surest way to get all the info so we can help you.

The ME improves with each new patch and version of DCS ... I would definately bet on ED to come up with something very cool going forward ME / campain wise ... fingers crossed ... Remember, these guys (the devs) are HARDCORE flight simmers themselves... they want all these features the same as you do!

DCS VoIP/radio integration with TeamSpeak 3
nemises replied to Shaman's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Mumble is an outstanding product.... I've used it in conjunction with the BF2 mod Project reality, and it does the MOST AMAZING 3d positional sound I've ever come accross....as well as distance attenuation. It is uncanny when you can hear enemies talking behhind a wall that you are crouched next too, and you can pinpoint their exact location with your ears.. Allthough 3d positional audio is not really relevant in DCS , it still gives me great confidence in the product's features! -
Ah cheers, yes you are quite correct.... you just will not be able to achieve a "TA" lock with the Shkval (which precludes moving targets unless you also move the designator manually), but you can still fire in Auto mode without a TA

I cannot see the image ? (unless it is an image of a fully white screen!)

The shark is NOT intended for night ops at all ... As above, the goal of that particular mission is to navigate the shark out of there, not to help defend the base .... However, your options for night ops are your pilot NVG's, and mannual release mode on the weapons.... without illumination, the shkval will not lock on, and you will not get release authority, however, in manual release mode , you can get weapons on target in the dark by manually making sure you are within parameters ... Target aquisition becomes the difficulty here... I believe a night variant of the KA50 was floated early in it's development cycle however?

awesome ... we've needed this!

...you can also use "Decent" mode (default key "d", hold when in autohover) for safe (2m/s) decent rate (ie no VRS), but it can feel a little slow when those missle trailes are snaking towards you ;)

The only comment I have with regards to the exceptionaly high quality of the video, is that the sound seemed to be over-driven sometimes ?... when your voice would get loud, it would distort ... I believe you have some nice recording equipment, and I am not a sound tech, but I believe you could "compress" the sound to make sure the amplitude doesn't go into distortion ? I noticed this on both the ipod and 720p versions. I do not believe this is an issue at my end, HOWEVER, it could definately be if no one else notices some voice distortion / volume distortion (it is particularly noticable, for example, on the title music).... so if others could also mention if they notice this it might help for the next mastering? Thanks! Nem

Ipod version succesfully downloaded both from the direct link, and also via using the pause/resume method (about every 10 mins or so) 720p still coming down (120KB/sec) via both methods ok (200 MB at this stage)
-
awesome....on its way now... also trying the "pause/resume" method on proper source incase it works
-
404 error at this end miguez, when clicking on the links as above...
-
yep, both files failed in download (both dropped out at same time, 130MB / 15 mins, implying some sort host enforced timeout?) You'll crack it though, these things never go super smooth when they hit production :)
-
Great work Miguez (and team), downloading now (720p and iphone version, since it's free ;) )

Hi, You are correct in that you cannot "press escape and take control" , as you are whatching a video, rather than an ingame track with the engine running. The video includes all of the text from the original track, which includes the part that says "you can press escape at any time to take conrol" , however, you must ignore this as it is no longer possible.

"player" slots are for single player missions "client" slots are for multiplayer missions

Next DCS (US) Fixed Wing Aircraft Wish List
nemises replied to diecastbg's topic in DCS Core Wish List
"even playing field" is a bit of an airquake concept.... assymetry is what it's all about ;)
