  1. classic...good troubleshooting Mokem
  2. Hiya Kazi, The Abris and the PVI800 are unfortunately not linked, except in a few distinct ways, mostly pertaining to target points and via the datalink. The PVI800 (INS navigation unit which drives the HSI) will automatically update to the next steerpoint if you are using "route" autopilot mode, but if you are flying manually, you would need to use the PVI800's keypad to progress the HSI to point at the next steerpoint. It's best, and easiest to consider the Abris and PVI as two completely seperate (and therefore redundant) navigation aids, much like having a GPS unit in your car which has no way of moving the steering wheel! ... the two units do not really cross communicate (with a few exceptions). :) I definately recommend whatching the navigation Producers Note (I think producers note # 3 ?) if you haven't allready. Good luck!
  3. be sure your RPM is not dropping below 80% .... if that hapens, anything driven directly by AC (ie the IT23 display) will go dead.. You should have also heard several alarms, and a "low rpm" warning. Make SURE that your throttles are set in the "Auto" position at all times (twice with pg-up), and that you don't have the throttle axis mapped to an axis (or if you do, make sure you know what you are doing!...auto setting with keyboard is fine for 99.9% of us). If it's not that, then are you flying at night?...the shkval can be very difficult to see through at night, and can "fade out" when leaning left or right using the NVG's... If it's not that, then be aware that the IT23 will periodically (every 5 mins or so) show a test pattern for auto callibration.. if its none of those, then I dunno sorry
  4. I can see why people would use FD if using the trim button like a space invaders fire button :P If you press and hold the trim button, the heli responds like it's in F/D mode, but then re-engages all AP channels once released... ..of course it's down to personal preference!..just putting it out there
  5. trains run automatically in the world... There is / was a chart around in the lockon forums outlining the train timetables, probably is still valid in DCS ?
  6. I'd just likw to support MBot's thought process there...to me, I loose immersion if I fly missions with active SAM's / air defence...theres no way you'd be sent into an area that was protected by proper SAM coverage ... for me the immersion comes with realistic mission tasking. If that means no serious risk of beeing shot down?..so be it from my view.
  7. Nicely said mate.. Don't under estimate your ability or skill to join in on multiplayer.. 99% of us (myself included) are in the same range as yourself in terms of flying ability... and we're all just in it to have fun as well; you won't be shunned or grilled on a server for asking a question, as everyone is pretty happy to help out (even if to just show off their own little niche piece of knowledge ;) )...it can actually be a very good learning environment if you hit a server with the right folk on it!
  8. yeah, there is no need to have an axis set for throttles, unless you have like a zillion axis!
  9. yes, this has hapenned to me also the other night...spawned in the middle of a field 300 or 400 metres from runway This was as a client in multiplayer playing Conforntation 8 X 8 with 4 other clients
  10. well, you picked the biggest baddest toughest and most realistic sim to start on mate, so don't get dis-heartened...it is in the challenge of learning that makes for the most fun
  11. is it not spring loaded to return to the left ? I seem to remember somone mentioning its a spring return mechanism...pain in the ass if it is ;)
  12. Haven't tested yet, but there is a "deactivate group" trigger action. Not sure if groups / units can be re-activated again after a de-activate ... am assuming they remain in the game like a normal deactivated group.. Of couse, a deactivated unit will not fight, but yeah, should test it out
  13. an easy explaination of what the "Auto / manual" weapons mode switch does: In Auto: the selected weapons parameters are taken into consideration, and launch authorisation "C" will only be givin if the target is within paramters (Range , deflection) In Manual: the selected weapon can be launched at any time without needing to be within parameters In manual , you need to be careful to actually be within the Max range of the weapon (8KM's for vhikrs, 4 KM's for cannon etc..), and for the ATGM, make sure to keep the two circles alighned during the entire flight of the weapon or it could loose guidance. It is better to use "Auto" mode, as that way you are not wasting ammo on long shots ...on the other hand, Manual mode can let you get off that shot at slightly longer range..
  14. hmm..not sure sorry mate, 99.9% of people around here won't use a mod that adds wep's that arent available / possible on the real thing... most installable / modman type mod's have some instructions that come with though ? Try creating or editing a mission in the mission editor, and go to the weapons loadout page for the "player" KA50 , see if it is available there ? You won't be able to use any such weapons mods on any online servers, as it is considered cheating..but for single player?..
  15. yeah, it's flakey at best I've found ... often times after saving a target, I then need to reset before beeing able to scroll through multiple targets in order to send / ingress them. ...might just be me though ?
  16. yeah, I shoot from the hip now.......basically everything that takes a long time goes on first (assuming ground power) ie. INU, Abris, NAV, L140 , then all the radios and fuel, then engine start, then anything else (EEGs, autopilots, ejector, lights etc..).. I did take off without the batteries on by accident last night, but noticed in flight.... I guess thats the main down-side in not using a checklist..easy to miss some componant..
  17. yeah, that'd be very nice, but ED have the necessary info on the F16c and not on the F18 or f14. I guess people (myself included) are so excited about the F16c because it is the first true multirole aircraft that will come to DCS with it's full avionics and weapons systems, a 6dof true-to-life cockpit , and every system modelled within. I used to get excited doing the F4AF 20 min startup sequence ...man I cannot WAIT to do the "real thing" in DCS Falcon, and especially learning to drive the ground radar / lgb interface. The other aircraft planned (a10c, F15c, Mi24, Mig29, ah64a) are every BIT as exciting , but I think , systems wise, the F16c will be the most complicated of them all.
  18. ALSO , remember, it is usually necessary to "Reset" between saving a target on Abris/datalink, and sending that target....just the way the system is. Don't panic though, as it is easy to slew your Shkval back to the saved point by using the "ingress" button
  19. yep... There is also a new trigger action to deploy a candle bomb (much easier for mission designers than trying to get an AI aircraft to do it on cue)
  20. ^^ yep...2 or 3 pages back in this very thread :)
  21. Hi IceDragon,. To save a target to your own datalink use the following: 1) lock target in Shkvla (make sure laser is on for range info) 2) press the appropriate target type on the datalink 3) press "send mem" to store that target Do not press "1" to send it to yourself.
  22. looking great man!
  23. there is not, however there is now "message to country" ... you could set up all KA50's from a differnt country, and personalise it that way... ...sound and messages are aside from the radio logic though unfortunately..
  24. In essense, when you release the trim button, all control inputs (from cyclic and rudder) are disabled untill you return them to the nuetral posistion, and then they become active again. To use it is the same as in pre-patch, only now you no longer get that moment of double transformation that you used too. I'm using an X52 and have had no problems so far with new trimming method, though TBH, I never really had any issues with the old trimming method either....I have had a couple of instances when manually hovering or approaching a landing where I would normally constantly set trim without returning the controls to center which , of course, now means I get no control till I do return them to center, but otherwise, it's a very interesting solution to the problem of non FFB + centering force joysticks.
  25. ?...just press alt-c again untill you get the mode you want?..I don't understand the problem sorry, unless it breaks some script you are running ?
