  1. yes definately need batteries for in flight also, or else when you dip below RPM threshold (which will happen) you could loose all electrics, instead of just the AC stuff....
  2. I do remember it bobbing up and down and swaying side to side like a broncho! ... it was when I was still learning how to fly it ! .... it used to seem to fight me at every step, and get out of control for no good reason! 99% of your issue (I'm sure, unless it is some sort of control input problem), is not realising how the Auto stabalisers interact with the trim, and the fact that the trim also effects Rudder input. do this from a stable hover: - press ctrl Enter to bring up the control input screen, this will display where you are trimmed at neutral...make sure to CANCEL out any rudder trim at all by pressing and holding trim and applying reverse rudder input..once it is centralised (on the control screen), release the trim button and recenter the control's immediately. - now you are trimmed nicely, PRESS AND HOLD the trim button, apply some forward pitch and some roll and translate to a banking turn ...KEEP HOLDING the trim button down! - Now, correct roll and stabalise on a heading with some forward speed...STILL with the trim button held.... - Check the control input screen again...are the rudders centralised?...is the Shark flying forward completely stable at the speed you want? .. good!..RELEASE the trim button - make sure you are not heading for a mountain or loosing alititude (get the VSI on 0 as well with collective), and go make a cup of tea.... HOLDING the trim and checking the ctrl-enter screen may be the secret you are missing out on (I know it completely changed the way I fly the shark)
  3. Hi Maulkin, You'd notice the rangefinder burning out by virtue of the fact you can no longer get accurate range info, which may mean you cannot get launch authority and any laser guided weapons you fire will just act as though there is no guidance laser (ie. for Vhikrs, they will simply fall to the ground about 1km in front of the shark)...there is no other indication When you "fire" the laser (ie. designate a target), you will notice the digital range readout in KM's come up at the bottom of the Shkval....this is continually updated for 10 seconds, which means the laser keeps firing for that time..if you then launch Vhikrs, then the laser is also continually firing for guidance. You can "turn off" the laser in between engagements by hitting the lower right switch on the lower left control panel (the same panel that contrls the HMS etc..) .. unknown if this helps the life of the laser, however, what it can do is at least stop the laser from firing by acident if you are just slewing the Shkval around / or unlocking it from a target (more common)
  4. yep, well, that kinda just means the long missions are outside of what the KA50 is capable of performing surely? ... realism is realism mate ...
  5. run a good memory test (for a long time!), and fully surface scan all of your hard drives .. Reseat ALL hardware (memory, cpu(s), PCI / e cards, USB headers and especially power supply mounts on the system board).
  6. I undertand the CD version may not work, but download versions should (different protection).
  7. custom maps??
  8. Yep!...good point thanks, I meant the altitude hold channel doesn't have to be on, not that it cannot be on, hehe
  9. ^^ infact ED themselves have said exactly that...that they are working on the ah64a (at some level) Also, my opinion on the Seat issues?.. I think it's a reasonable non issue...ED allready have AI controlling helicopters and weapons deployment...I don't think its as huge a step AI wise as peeople might think....now Multiplayer in 1 aircraft is maybe a bit harder ? As for Single player, I do not think that it is important to be able to "swap seats" mid flight...infact I think it's a bit silly TBH .. either you are the Pilot or the W/O.. ..maybe in Arcade mode...
  10. yse, all of the Autopilot channels (except altitude hold!) should be on ..in this way the AP has control over yaw / heading...also make sure the Flight Director mode is OFF as it disengages the linkage for the AP channels and only gives HUD indications as to what the AP channels would like to be doing instead of actually turning the bird.
  11. hiya pfra, yes you certainly can :) Open the mission editor, and open the mission file. Each object in the mission has it's own properties.....vehicle type, coalition (side) etc... If you want to play together (ie. multiplayer) , then all of the Units you want to be human controlled must have these options: - be in the same coalition (just choose "russia" for the black shark on red, or "turkey" for the blackshark on blue) - must be set to type "client" ("player" is for single-player only, whereas "client" is for multiplayer) Or, If you just want AI heli's in single player then you must open the mission in the mission editor, add the additional KA50's, make sure they are set to the same country (probably "russia"), and make sure to set the type as "excellent" or "average" which controls the level of AI the pretend pilots have, then they must be in the same "group" as you ... assuming you want them to be wingmen, then they will follow you around, else you can set them independant waypoints in the editor. then save the mission as SOMETHING ELSE .. ie don't over-write the existing mission, unles you want to loose it forever..
  12. keyboards and localised key settings are a bit different depending on what country keyboard you have. Try going into key settings and re-asigning the radio button to another key.
  13. there could be scenarios in a campain (for eg) where weapons supply is an issue...better to have bombs than nothing if you MUST destroy something that day...
  14. I'm pretty sure we won't see anything A10 untill the BS patch is out the door. fingers crossed in the very near future!
  15. if they are both by Ed Macy, then they are both the same book! Sometimes differnt publishers in differnt countries like to change titles, whether for overlapping copyright, or to appeal to a different market (take the first Harry Potter film...it was called "The Philosophers Stone" in Europe, but "the Sorcerors Stone" in US) Ed is also in the process of writing a new book called "Hellfire" .. hopefully as full of good nerd info as Apache was!
  16. A reminder, the event is on THIS Saturday .. places have filled up quickly, and planning / intel briefing's are in full swing. There are a limited number of places still available on the red side (I believe). Good luck to all attending!
  17. sniper 1 was terrible, and even Apache Dawn (IMHO) was not particularly good...Ed Macy's Apache however, really goes into quite a bit of detail about in-cockpit ops, and honestly is the best military book I've read about modern ops
  18. yep, very nice... still the clunky OpFlash interface, but, the game engine itself looks amazing, and runs really well! that goes on my buy list too
  19. Great! Can't wait!!
  20. ...also you can download (from the DCS website) a new version of the Georgian Oil War Campain that has most flights starting powered down.
  21. still no sign of BlackShark in Wimbledon GAME ...
  22. nemises

    FPS?

no reason why you couldnt have different game engines communicating together ... 1 an FPS engine Arma style, the other a flightsim, DCS style ... as long as the physical space conformed topologically, then it really just boils down to sharing positional data and "who fired what / where" between the two engines. ..maybe someone should come up with a consolidated multiplayer framework for gaming that all games can share output with other games using the same framework... ..or something..
  23. just dont try to maintain a hover on 1 engine
