the only reason your controls would be different in single player and multiplayer is if you are playing single player in "game" mode...of course, all of the online servers will be "real" mode.. There are two different control sets, one for "real" and one for "game" , you must go into controls and set the "real" control set how you want...that means setting up the corect axis for collective, as by default it is set to the slider for the X52....a profile will not help with regards to axis settings, only buttons... Suggestion is to bind all of your controls directly in the game setup menus rather than using a profile.

Yeayh, you need to put the throttles into "Auto power" setting...at the point you are at, they are still at Idle power ...do this by pressing "pg-up" twice .. this will increase engine RPM to around 80% , which will also turn the generators to provide charge for the batteries and AC power. the "Throttle" setting is seperate from the "Collective" setting, and is controlled with Pg-up and Pg-dn .. recommend you leave in Auto power 100% of the time (except of course during start up where it will be at idle). If it is not that (ie if you have the throttle set to Auto allready), then look at the right-hand rear wall panel, and make sure the EEG Gas Test switch is not on...if it is, then the EEG's will cut power early as a ground test... other people have had this problem as well...make sure it is off. If it is neither of these two things, then feel free to attach a track of your startup procedure and attempt to takeoff, and I / we would be more than happy to take a look ?

^^ yeah, i'd love to go the touch or touchoverlay route.....after seeing Urze's 4 monitor + 28" touch setup...sheesh...dream

haha, yeah.....you need to find the batteries (or ground power) , turn them on, then turn on the Cockpit lights "K" or night lights "shift - K". Your first problem is a weird one, I've never tried that before, but will check it out next time im in teh pit and report back. As for the ground crew shouting, they will do that if you have the radio switched to talk to them...all you have to do is change back to VHF2 before taking off. Refusing to takeoff / ie lack of power would only really be caused by something mis configured in the cockpit (throttle RPM not set to auto, or EEG Gas test switch on)....there are no cables /physical connection with the ground that could cause the issue you are seeing.

I've managed to make the switch from inverted to non over the last few months (IL2, lomac and BS) .. feel natural to "step on the ball" now .. kind of weird at first, but doesnt take too long if you want to make the switch...

there are many things that can be used to determin + or - completion %ge.... certain units in an area, or not in an area, certain units dead or alive or damaged, certain units above or below a certain altitude etc etc.... all of these things can be set to add or take away %completed ... so say for eg you start on 50% , but after 10 minutes it may drop to %40 because a friendly unit was destroyed that you were supposed to keep alive etc.. It all depends on how the mission is set up by the mission builder ..

Dont forget to change back to VHF2 before takeoff tho!

The Autostart procedure is simply a script that "toggles" switches, and assumes that the cockpit is in the FULLY powered down state (ie post load) ... if a couple of your switches have stayed on, then the autostart script could consivably turn them off. so, either: 1) do not power down the shark for re-arm, simply slect the ground radio channel, and then request weapons/fuel whilst still spinning the rotors. 2) use the full powerdown "cheat" (win+delete?) to power down.....and wait for it to fully complete before executing the powerup cheat :) ..option 1 is the better option!

yep...I think all of our hearts skipped a beat the first time we ran the game to see it drop to desktop..lol...

Target Computer on Left Panel Lighting...what am I missing?
nemises replied to Chizelmonkey's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
My guess is he's talkgin about the K041(?) wep system panel, which also turns on the Shkval TV? ... lower left switch on the left/lower panel (same panel as the auto-turn-to-target etc..) Both this and the Weps switch on the right hand wall need to be on AND DC power(?) has to be available (via external power, or from batteries + generator) -
Hi Klinkeye, Yes you can definately get over the mountain.. The optimal climb speed in the KA50 is 130KPH. Make sure to start your climb early, and do NOT slow down too much...if you need to circle around in a slow circle at 130 KPH untill you get over the ridge height (3600 Mtrs? from memory). If you try to just hover over, you will never have enough lift....keep moving , and start your climb early

Do real pilots ever let go of the stick?
nemises replied to dutchpilot's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
yeah, I constantly let go of the cyclic to do mouse clicks... as long as you are timmed correctly, or in a stable hover, there is no issue (of course, you must pay constant attention to what is hapenning outside of the cockpit incase you are driting very slowly backwards into a hill for eg ;) ) -
^^ Munny, it will also help to keep her still if you reset trim (a small cheat as no such control exists in the real shark) ... the default trim position is for when the shark is on the ground. come takeoff time, you'll need / want to trim her forward a bit again.
-
yeah, it sems that, even though they allow for some centering time, it is pretty quick!..I also get a double transform if I hit the trim button and release....not sure how to increase the centering time, tho I sa a post about it the other day, and it was just a change in a config file. I'm so used to it tho, that it doesnt impact me...I think it would be worse the other way and loosing control of the cyclic for too long..

^^ you mean altitude hold, not authover I presume?

Getting some contact info for tech support...
nemises replied to Koenigstiger's topic in Forum and Site Issues
Hi Koenig, The support guys do check these forums, so hopefully you will have an answer soon :) -
Hi Hawk, Put everything up to "high" except water ("normal" ) and view distance ("medium), cockpit res to 512 .. you shold get reasonable frame rates with that I think (similar setup to mine, and thats what I use). You can add dcs.exe to nvidia control panel by : - open the NVidia control panel - select "Manage 3d settings" on the left - select the "program settings" tab - click on the "add" button - navigate to your Black shark install directory, and select "DCS.exe" - Change all the settings as you like (FSAA etc..)
-
Hi Dave, yes!.. You can also use the "zoom" feature, which is not the same as leaning in on the trackir. Check in options under the "axis" controls, and you will see a "Zoom View" axis control. Asign an axis to it (it using an X52 for eg, use the slider, otr one of the rotaries) , and you can zoom in and out (camera style lens zoom, rather than a paralax zoom as with Trackir). If you do not have a spare Axis to assign, thre are also "zoom in" and "Zoom out" keys that can be assigned .. I belive by default they are set to mouse-wheel up and down ? Most people I know that use a Cougar, have zoom in and zoom out set to key strokes on a 2 way hat switch. ..vital for flight IMHO
-
also, dont forget, if landing on an airfield, you have the option of the rolling aircraft style landing...I think this is much easier than a vertical landing when you are first learning. Make sure to disengage the wheel brakes though, or your burst a tyre :) ... Also, when taxiiing / rolling, use a little bit of collective and the Cyclic to turn, not the rudders...
-
Thanks Jack , appreciate the correction :)
-
hehe...well troubleshot... Yeah, I don't think theres any need or desire to hav the throttles mapped anywhere on an axis. I've only had to use emergency throtte a few times after having lost an engine...
-
Correct, the Simmod A10 does not play nicely with Walmis, HOWEVER, there is a fix pack that makes them play nicely together.. by order you should install: - Walmis mods - A10 - A10 + walmis fixpack

hi Rimpel, You need to set up all of your controls: select "options" , then "controls" , and start going through the lists assigning controlller Axis and buttons as you like. The Main controls you need to set are on a list called "Axis" which is highlighted in green on the options / controls page.. be aware! There are two sets of controls, One for "KA 50 Game" and one for "KA 50 Real". I suspect you will be playing the "KA 50 Game" with reduced complexity, so make sure it is those controls that you are setting up.

IF you find the Shark spinning out of control when you are in a fight: - press control-Enter, this will bring up the controls guide - Center the Rudder pedals on the control guide - press trim - Problem solved! It is very easy and very very common to accidentaly double transform trim the rudder! The heading hold AP channel can only do so much to counteract this. Other wise, as long as the Route autopilot is not on, and you are not using "auto turn to target" unless in a stable hover , you should not be having problems as described. Make sure to press and hold trim whenever doing ANY control inputs though...the only time I hands off the trim is on landing
-
heh great one!.. Well, the primary thing to not get alarmed about is how "weird" it feels at first dealing with the AP hold channels (esepcially heading hold), but trust me, you get used to it in no time, and it becomes very VERY flyable..just pres and hold trim button, and only release it when you go hands off stick, or want to fly trimmed as is.. Use ctrl-enter to display how your contrls are currently trimmed incase you need to re-trim the rudders to neutral (common problem).
