fixed Su-25 - Crash On Mission Start
SDirickson replied to SDirickson's topic in Flaming Cliffs 3 Bugs & Problems
That did the trick, thank you very much! -
Since 2.8, I get a crash on mission start in the Su-25 (and only the Su-25). The mission will load and sit at mission start, waiting for the 'Fly' button to be clicked. I can change the view and look around. The moment I hit 'Fly', DCS crashes. It happens ever time, no matter the map, and only with the Su-25. All other modules (Flaming Cliffs or 3rd party) work just fine. All mods removed, Open Beta 2.8, cleaned and repaired. Latest crashlog attached. dcs.log-20221204-011009.zip

DirectX adapter for Brunner FFB Joystick ready
SDirickson replied to Chuls's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
For any one confused with the instructions (like I was), this is as simple as buying an Arduino Micro, plugging it into your PC, and installing the BrunnerDX software. Use BrunnerDX to install the firmware on the Arduino, set up a few settings in CLS2Sim and away you go. BrunnerDX has the firmware for the Arduino as part of the package, and the connection between the Arduino and the Brunner base is entirely virtual. No hardware, wiring or soldering required. Initial impressions in DCS: Stick shaking at the edge of stall and force trim effects are great! Unfortunately, I think the original Brunner software does a better job changing the force of the stick with relation to airspeed. I have a hard time using stick forces alone to judge airspeed (I'm talking about the WWII aircraft, specifically) via BrunnerDX like I could using vanilla CLS2Sim. - Edit: This was user error on my part. I had enabled the 'return to center' option on the trim page. This is not necessary in DCS (or Il-2). The FFB effects from DCS already command a return to center force upon the stick, commensurate with airspeed. The effect is identical to the stock Brunner software. I would love to see a way to tweak the strength of the various FFB effects within the BrunnerDX software, specifically the effect of IAS on control forces. This is a great, cheap way to bring DirectX FFB to the Brunner hardware and worth buying a Arduino Micro to experiment with. -
Brunner Force Feedback Joystick Base
SDirickson replied to Mozart's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Fixed! I had the CLS-E plugged in to a USB HUB (that powers most of my simulator peripherals). Once I plugged it directly into the PC, problem solved. I'm loving the hardware trim, both with the 4-way hat and the trim release, but I haven't been able to feel any FFB effects from the simulator yet. -

Just received my CLS-E yesterday. I have a Warthog stick mounted. Tried to follow the Brunner install guide for DCS but having no joy getting any FFB effects. 1. Plugged in CLS-E with Warthog stick. 2. Installed CLS2SIM software 4.26.3. 3. Ran the Brunner DCS plugin installer. 4. Started DCS Open Beta, made sure FFB effects were checked in settings and started a flight. 5. Alt-tabbed, started CLS2SIM, made sure DCS settings were checked and tried to connect to the CLS-E. Got the green box that it was connected, but nothing to the right in the 127.0.0.1 box. 6. Went back to DCS. Stick works great, trim hat moves the stick, buttons all register, just no FFB effects. Latest version of Open Beta, latest CLS2SIM software, latest Win10 updates. Windows and CLS2SIM installed on the C: drive. DCS installed on drive E:. Any ideas? Do I need to copy the Brunner scripts to anywhere but the default folders? Also, when I run CLS2SIM, after I hit connect, I can't make any changes in the software. It won't let me 'stop' or go into settings. I also haven't figured out how to make my own custom profiles. -
Accurate 3D models of Warthog gimbals

PM sent! That's what I figured. Too bad, $24 would have been a steal. Well, in that case, I'll just order one in nylon to hold me over. -

I took the Sphere.step file available on the Russian Il-2 forums and uploaded it to Sculpteo. They have metal 3D printing options, specifically Binder Jetting in Steel/Bronze with a Polished finish for $24. Will this adversely effect the hall sensor? They can do a full bronze casting but it will cost over $200. If the steel/bronze is a no-go, what process and plastic do you recommend? Thanks! -
With Update V1.5.5.6, none of the AI helicopters spawn at the beginning of the mission.

Suncom SFS and Talon restoration and mods

Pardon the n00b question, but I want to make sure I'm following the thread correctly. This PCB will let you convert a Talon stick into a Warthog-base-pin compatible device, right? Rewire the Talon, modify the base with a Warthog threaded device, and it will be swappable with a Warthog stick? If so, count me in for one of those PCBs, just let me know cost and additional components required! -

Awesome! I can't wait to tackle this. -

Debolestis, I have a Suncom SFS stick with the single hat and the red light. I would like to convert the light and the left side countermeasures switch into four-way hats, and make the stick Warthog base compatible. That would make for three push-buttons and three 4-way hats. Is this possible using your shift registers, like converting an X-Fighter? Thank you very much! -

How difficult it would be to modify the thumbstick on a Warthog Throttle to accept your F-16 cursor knob? I find the eraserhead style thumbstick to be difficult to move accurately and thought increasing the length and surface area might help. Any thoughts? Also, have you thought of making a few switch toppers? For example, I've wanted to convert one of the switches on the base of the Warthog Throttle into a gear lever by adding a circular topper that makes it easy to identify by feel. -
I am unable to view the weapon or crew menus while using VR. I am using an Oculus Rift and my graphics settings are set to the VR standard. If I run DCS with VR disabled, the weapons menu and the crew AI menu both work as advertised. When I select them, they both appear towards the far right side of the screen. When I run DCS with VR enabled and attempt to bring up the menus, nothing happens. Is it possible they're simply cropped off the screen due to the VR resolution? Thank you in advance for the assistance.
