I'm working on new, fully automated and interactive checklists for MIG Killers, my upcoming F-4 campaign as well as my 3 F-14 Tomcat campaigns. It's a lot of work to convert those 3, but I hope you'll like the update.
Great news, thank you very much. I switched to flying F-14 because it's a splendid module, but flying your campaigns was an extraordinary turning point, at least for me. I will wait for these updates.
PS I'm also waiting for the F-4E, so ...

Usually to transfer from one map to another in my deployments i use a trigger "Load Mission" (when i reach that point dcs loads the mission on another map in the air) at the end of one map so i can start in one map and end in another map. It´s not ideal but it is my way to overcome this subject.
As everyone prefers. Mine is just a simple suggestion in favor of those who want a sea coast from the Afghanistan map. Considering that adding a coastline to this incoming map would have an impact on performance, as already clarified by NineLine, it seemed logical to propose this possibility, because:
- Zaranj is an airport already present on the incoming map of Afghanistan
- based on geographical coordinates, Zaranj can be added to the Persian Gulf map (as highlighted in my screenshot)
- both maps are created by ED, which also holds the rights (for modifications, additions or changes).
So anyone (who wishes) can fly from the carrier to Zaranj with the PG map. And from Zaranj to all Afghanistan with this map. It could be a real possibility. That's all.

Since the map can already be purchased in "segments ", why not offer a bare bones "out of bounds" addition called "South of Afghanistan " so us navy fan boys can get in on this map?
We don't need any buildings, just baren water and land on the way TO Afghanistan. Just like how the out of bounds is there in NTTR.
As far as impacting performance are we talking about an extra minute or two loading empty land and water or crash to desktop failure?
As far as the flight length... I mean yeah of course it's not for everyone... but don't shut out your core players(F18/F14/super carrier)because you wouldn't want to fly that long.
You could ask ED if they include Zaranj airport in the Persian Gulf map, which is already established for the Afghanistan map, so it will also be present in the PG map. The mission could be:
PG map: takeoff from carrier, landing in Zaranj.
Afghanistan map: take off from Zaranj to fly wherever you want.
Honestly, it doesn't make sense and it's not worth it, at least for me (and even if I love carrier based planes): from the carrier to Zaranj about 400 NM of desolate terrain.

Thank you for this amazing work. Really impressive. I'm thinking about buying the whole map ... Can you confirm that the entire map in High Detail requires about 120GB?

It is with great excitement that
and it's with great pleasure that I read this newsletter.
just a couple of questions
About the Mig-29A. Nothing is mentioned about the flight model. Are you forgetting this or are you planning to say something later?
About Afghanistan Map.
QuoteIn the above screenshot, you can see the area of DCS: Afghanistan that will be available in Early Access
Does this mean there could be an expansion or completion of certain areas and airports not available at EA?
Thanks for your work.

@IronMike thank you very much for this update. A little disappointed, but after reading (and I'll read with even more calm in the next few days) your explanations I fully understand and agree the reasons for the delay in release of F-4E. Indeed, I hope that the current adverse circumstances can be resolved as soon as possible and ALL of you can soon be fully healthy again.
You are creating an extraordinary module, with innovative features that will give us a degree of realism and immersion that is currently unimaginable. And for those who, like me, have been real pilots for some time, this means a lot, a dream that continues on PC too.
I am also really grateful for your way of managing relationships with the community, with honesty and transparency. Instead of quickly resolving the matter with "it's ready when it's ready" (an expression that is often used by some in a too simplistic and, in my opinion, even disrespectful way) you took the time to explain in detail, writing a lot, but a lot.
I pre-ordered the F-4E almost immediately, and I'm still really happy I did.
Thank you for your hard work and your genuine enthusiasm.
Best regards.

Module manager controls it all, if you have it installed it will update, if you dont want it to update it needs to be deleted from the module manager.
Copy that. Thanks.

you can stop the update at any time, it will continue where it last was after checking files
Thank you for reply BIGNEWY. I knew this, I was wondering if it's possible to update DCS to this patch, temporarily excluding the update of Syria module, but without deleting it from my Module Manager. Maybe it's not possible... thanks anyway.- 1

I've carefully read the changelog. WOW, a wonderful patch!!! Thanks to ALL of you (ED and 3rd party Partners) for this challenging work.
Now, sorry for this short off topic, although still related to this patch. I've to download about 53 GB of files and I think that, in my case, many of them concern the Syria update. My internet connection is quite slow. Can I temporarily disable the Syria terrain, without deleting it, and resume its update later? So I can quickly download files and updates of my planes and try them immediately. Thanks for attention.

The DCS: F/A-18C is undergoing significant improvements to its flight model and flight control system. These improvements center on F/A-18C landing behavior, landing gear articulation, using altitude autopilots modes, engine response times, and the automatic carrier landing system. Please read about all the new features and improvements we have been working on below.
Finally some good news on F/A-18. I had abandoned this module for over a year because I was really weary about these gaps. I'm really satisfied with your commitment. Thanks a lot.
17 hours ago, BIGNEWY said:Change log will have full details but yes its planned for the next patch
Excellent, this means I will soon be taking my seat in F/A-18 cockpit again. On other hand, such an announcement only makes sense if all these improvements will be in the February patch and not in the October one. Thanks again.

I much prefer to store all the pdf manuals that I have collected over the years on a cloud drive and read them on my Tablet .. they are great when learning as I can write annotations on them, or highlight the main ideas, and then find those notes quickly … and I’ve never printed a manual, just thinking of the trees makes me ill
@Rudel_chw Please check your PM. Thanks

Exceptional, a well done video. But above all, it was really exciting to see the stresses and performances of the F-4E during the airshow maneuvers. When I saw the first few minutes of the startup, it seemed like a dream. I never imagined I would enjoy tow-starter tractor assists in starting an F-4E (and in the future also an F-14 ). You at HB are doing a great job!!! Now all you have to do is grant us the privilege of flying on such a masterpiece.

The label was sourced from photogrammetry, so it was indeed misplaced in the jet we scanned, thus it's at least accurate to _some_ jets
Thanks for checking.

Very possible that that switch was misplaced in the real aircraft as well.
Probable, but the photo I found about it shows otherwise

This is just a little thing. While I was trying a more in-depth start up, I noticed a misalignment between the temperature switch and the related writing. For comparison, I attach cockpit screenshot and fig.2-20 from Natops. Again, it's a small thing, but you guys are very particular about details too and I thought I'd submit it. Thanks again for your excellent work.

The AGM-45 Shrike missiles .... In DCS, you will be required to select the seeker from a special weapon settings panel in the Mission Editor.
Really very interesting, an exciting further note of realism.

Buono a sapersi, in effetti è quello che mi aspetto. Nell'annuncio del 17 marzo avevano chiaramente scritto "we have made the exceptionally tough decision to postpone the release of DCS: F-4E until early Spring, with an absolute worst case scenario launch in May".
