  1. Yeah I wasn't sure. I've never done aerobatics in a powered airplane if that makes it any better. Sorry for the confusion anyway.
  2. I'm not sure how applicable this is to the Yak, but I regularly fly a K-21 and anti-spin aileron will usually lead to recovery in that thing, even if it takes longer than the normal recovery procedure. At first the aircraft will bank away from the spin but then it will pitch down soon after, which leads to an increase in airspeed and therefore recovery, although often at moderate-high sideslip angles. Pro-spin aileron on the other hand will have next to no effect, maybe increasing the yaw rate slightly. I've also flown a Pilatus B4 which needs pro-spin aileron all the way through the spin, or it will recover instantly.
  3. I find this whole debate a bit pointless. The reason why trainers exist in real life is because students can not afford to make deadly mistakes, and trainers are supposed to be easy to fly and provide a good learning experience. Having said that, you can buy the F/A-18, crash it on your first takeoff and nobody will care. This notion of trainer aircraft in sims is ridiculous. Simulator were conceived as an instrument of training, so we don't need to do it again. Sure, you'll probably become a better pilot if you work your way up from the Yak-52 to the L-39 and then over to any of the more advanced birds, but it's by no means a prerequisite. I often see people recommend the F-5 as a first module because it's "easy to fly and a good trainer". Why? Say if you only had the money for one module, the Hornet would absolutely be my first recommendation just because of its versatility. Don't get me wrong, I don't have a problem with trainers in DCS. In fact, I'm very glad that there is both a Yak-52 and an L-39 module because I have great personal interest in these aircraft, but suggesting a newbie to buy a plane to "learn how to fly" is counterproductive in my opinion.
  4. Oh alright, thanks. Seems like the manual isn't quite ready for release yet.
  5. I followed the startup checklist in the manual and have trouble completing the warmup. I set up a mission on Caucasus in winter with about 10°C OAT, and while keeping the engine at 41%-44% RPM (and both oil and main radiators closed, as suggested in the manual), the oil temperature wouldn't rise a noticeable amount, certainly not to 40°C. Then when I put it at 51% RPM the oil temperature still would barely rise, while the CHT was well above 200°C. After I took off and had flown at full throttle and about 98% RPM for almost half an hour, the oil temperature was still way below operating level, while the CHT had normalised after I opened the louvers. I suppose this isn't mean to be that way, or is there something I'm missing?
  6. What is the wheel brake purge function in the controls menu? I searched the manual but didn't find anything.
  7. If just one is out you can do a crossbleed start, if both are out you'll have to do an APU start, but that has a very restrictive envelope, so go check that out in the NATOPS.
  8. 1. Don't think so, but don't quote me on it. 2. Not sure again, but you probably shouldn't be dropping bombs under G-load anyway. Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk
  9. It's definitely implemented but it's more for anti-icing than deicing purposes IIRC, also I think it needs AC power. Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk
  10. Are you talking about full deflection? That depends on airspeed and various other flight parameters. I think if you're around 200-250 KCAS and not too high you should get almost the full 40° to either side, so you can try that. However, sluggish/ineffective rudder response at high speed is to be expected. Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk

  12. Can't comment on how long it'll until it's there. As for the display, you can have it on both DDIs and probably the MPCD too, although I only recently found out the MPCD can actually show all the DDI pages. I'd previously thought it only shows SA and HSI, so I'm not sure. Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk
  13. Try to reset your viewpoint. You should be able to see all the info on the HUD. Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk
