  1. So back in the day I got the GameTrix 908 chair and loved it for flight sims. Fast forwards 10 years and I'm older now, need reading glasses, and got a herniated disc. So I had to take apart my home cockpit and use my desk now. Not as cool...but works. I miss the Gametrix 908 so I was looking for something similar that I could use that wouldn't hurt my back too bad. Saw the Woojer vest and decided to look into it. Didn't see any info on it being used with DCS...so I got it...and tested it. It would be hard to compare it to the GameTrix 908 chair because it uses the simshaker software. It's essentially a vest that's a subwoofer. But it does make things a bit more fun for flight sims. I made a video about my experience: Overall...its works amazingly for helicopters but I found it lacking for planes. But it is more versatile in that it can be used for other games (I tested it with Fallout 76 and felt like I was in a war zone) and also works with VR. So in my current situation it works well.
  2. Thanks for the info. Useful to know. Will try not to kill my generators during cold starts.
  3. So I've done all the tutorial missions and when flying to a waypoint you see that home plate symbol. I created a quick mission for myself to learn the Apache and I set some waypoints. But when I fly it, it doesn't show that home plate symbol. Do I need to do something in mission editor to make that appear? Also, since Apache has different waypoint types, is it possible to set those up in mission editor as well?
  4. His reply made sense...but the question is on a real apache would pressing those buttons cause the generator to fail.
  5. The laser issue was on a multiplayer server with a hot start apache. The laser was working as intended. I just wasn't seeing the symbology on my TADS that I would see when in single player flying by myself. Specifically the range calculation and the X shape lines. For generator issue, its the verifying them that seems to generate the issue. Took a video of it today: I am able to replicate the generator problem on both cold starts and hot started apaches.
  6. Generator failure: Start the Apache from cold start and go through getting her warmed up. In the tutorial it says to check on generator one and two. When I check on either one, it automatically fails. So if I don't check on the generator - everything is fine. Seems like checking on it causes the failure. Laser Info Issue: When playing in multiplayer I was a gunner and we were at the range. I found a target and turned on the laser. I didn't get any range info or the lines around the target to indicate the laser is on. I though I forgot a step but the pilot said that from his TADS view he can see it the info. I was able to laser and take out targets, just didn't have the info.
  7. any link for xbox controllers? I think a good xbox controller and thrustmaster combo will work great with this heli.
  8. I think reversing the modifier bumper on the controller would allow the d-pad to be used for George real easily. I think for single player gunners using George and the xbox controller will be a great tool. Can't wait until it comes out today. Also, where can I find a blank xbox controller template. Been creating my own thrustmaster controls, but want to document the xbox controller as well.
  9. Curious as well for the documentation.
  10. Is there a good resource out there for model files for 3D printing a cockpit? Was thinking of building a F-16 or F/A-18 cockpit and been able to some of the panels on thingiverse but didn't know if there was a good source for these. Have no problem paying for a full cockpit set if its well done. Been really enjoying making panels with my 3d printer and I'm thinking about building a full cockpit now.
  11. That would be great....not familiar with a 555 timer circuit so will look into it.
  12. Not sure how to do that since all my other cockpit stuff I've just mapped into DCS. Would I need another app do that with?
  13. So I was at work and noticed that they were getting rid of old fire alarm pulls and decided to grab one. My intent is to wire it up and use it as an ejection mechanism. Here's a quick video of what I have now: So I can have it simulate a momentary pulse....but I know DCS needs you to press eject three times to work. Anyone have any ideas how I can make this work? I plan on repainting the box box and making it look like more of an ejection handle in the future.
  14. Had to make one small modification...but it worked. _ = function(p) return p; end; name = _('Test'); Description = 'Test Top Down monitors' Viewports = { Center = { x = 0; y = 0; width = 1920; height = 2160; viewDx = 0; viewDy = 0; aspect = 0.888888888888888; } } GUI = { x = 0; y = 0; width = 1920; height = 1080; } UIMainView = GUI Thanks for your help!
  15. So I set up a GUI and set the UIMainView = Gui. When I load it it used the top monitor for everything...including flight. Second monitor was just all black. So modified my monitor file as follows: _ = function(p) return p; end; name = _('Test'); Description = 'Test Top Down monitors' Viewports = { GUI = { x = 0; y = 0; width = 1920; height = 1080; }, Center = { x = 0; y = 0; width = 1920; height = 2160; viewDx = 0; viewDy = 0; aspect = 0.888888888888888; }, } UIMainView = Viewports.GUI What happen then is that the top monitor has all the menu things like I wanted...but when flying it seems like each screen is independent: Any thoughts?
  16. So I have two monitors set up on my pit mounted in a top bottom orientation. Both are 1920X1080. I've been using the top monitor to fly with and the bottom one for Teamspeak, SRS, and discord. But today I wanted to see what it would look like to use both screen in DCS. So I set my resolution to 1920X2160 and did some test flights. I really like that looking forward the hud is position in my natural looking position and I don't have to zoom in like I did before. Really enjoying the view and did some dog fights and was really happy. Only issue is that before flying in the menu screens, things are cut off and hard to click on. So if I go in instant mission, I have to select something at the top or the bottom of the list. Also makes it hard to select files in mission editor. What I'd like to do, if possible, is have it use the top screen for everything before flying. Then once the flight part starts, use both screen. IS this possible? I read the dummies guide but that talked about left right monitors...looking to see if can be done in an up and down method.
  17. So I belong to the DCS group on facebook and a couple weeks ago someone posted how they got a HGU-55/P military helmet to work with DCS. Got me thinking and I started looking at helmets on ebay. After some time, I finally won one and it arrived yesterday. My goal was to use it with TrackIR (and still is) and get the speakers and microphone to work with DCS. After using a voltmeter to test the plug, I found the speakers were not working. Taking apart the connections for them, I discovered the cable was cut. So went online and ordered new parts. All during this time, I was in contact with posted from the facebook group about ideas. He mentioned that he eventually wanted to get an oculus rift working with it. I have one, but initially though the size was too big. So last night after doing a 3 hour mission with my squad, I was like - lets see. Turns out, since the back part is pretty flexible...it does actually fit. Since it was 1 am...didn't do a flight. Today I woke up and wanted to test it. So I got everything set up and started recording. My GoPro seems to have an issue after about 30 minutes of recording where it loses a second of recording...so in post editing I had to re-sync a lot of footage. But here's some general notes: 1) There is a line on my head from the helmet or oculus, I suspect adding better padding in the helmet will help. 2) when the mask is on, you can't hear me talk right now (since I don't have the microphone working from the mask), but you need to make sure the mask is tight. If it's not tight then air escapes up and goes into the oculus via the nose opening and fogs it up. 3) The mask goes around the nose which tends to push the oculus rift up and unfocused things. I had to manually push it down a couple times. I'll try in the future to tighten the rift more before putting the helmet on. 4) I suspected the helmet might block some of the sensors, but it didn't. I have three sensors (two in 360 mode, and one right in front of me). Tracking, once I put the front one correctly, was not an issue. 5) Dogfighting with it could be physically straining...since you have to move more. I'm going to see if I can find a 5 point harness to simulate that as well to see how crazy it gets. Overall...tons of fun and will make another video when I get the parts to make it work with TrackIR.
  18. Great mod....any way to keep the camera steady when using trackIr? seems like locking trackIR doesn't work well. Any recommendations?
  19. I have the F/A-18 Hornet. I want to but it for a friend. But when I log int with my account it says I already own it and can't buy it. Creating a new account just to buy it for a friend would mean I can't use my bonus bucks. So is it possible to buy a module you already own and gift it?
  20. So found a couple issues I want to see if others can reproduce. First issue is with bombing. I was following Wags video on setting up programs when I noticed something. I set my first program to CCIP, and then my second program to Auto. But when I went on my CCIP run, the program changed to Auto. Trying to select CCIP shows CCIP for less then a second on HUD, then goes back to auto. Wasn't able to get back to CCIP at all. I have a video showing this issues, will post link here when it's uploaded. Second issue I found was doing a night time flight. I set all my DDI's to night time and I noticed the HSI was still bright. Turns out the HSI is the only display page that doesn't seem to have a night mode. I was able to put it on either left of right DDI and it was still day bright. Another night time thing I saw was that there is a little light bleed above and to the right of the master caution panel...even when the master caution panel isn't on. Again, I have a video showing this as well, will post here as soon as it's uploaded. Anyone else see these issues?
  21. I think it was called APN or APS...something like that. Only aired three episodes and I remember the third had a cliff hanger when one guy couldn't get the F-15 to stop on the runway. I was able to find the DVD's for the show and have them at home. IM me if you want me to send them to you.
  22. If we had the hornet for the weekend, we could do a nice fly over using the Normandy map...we can reach the palace on that map right?
  23. Currently in Manhattan for work training...so my wife is coming up and we're going to hit the town and do dinner and a show. Bad part is I won't be back home until Saturday so if it does come out tomorrow, I won't be able to fly it until Saturday night.
