  2. Since I updated on Thursday evening, I can no longer get authorisation, access any of my modules or saved missions. Module manager shows all modules installed. Of course I tried restarting the PC, reconnecting to the net, resetting my router, DCS repair utility and deleted the metashaders and FXO folders.   3. Had a flight in my spit this afternoon. Instead of my customary crossing the channel, I thought I would have a sightseeing mission round the coast. Came to the Thames Estuary and flew up it, first time I have been out this way. On the way to London I noticed two colourful "squares" of terrain, north of the Thames in the middle of the "black" terrain. Curious I flew over to them and found two fully detailed, yet still a work in progress patches of land, maybe two miles on a side and five miles apart. Roads had been put in around them, crossing the black terrain. The Eastward one hade a chain home station on it, thought Stanmore; yet it looked too far east to be there. Maps do not seem to show a radar station in that area. As far as I could tell having no landmarks, I would guess the patches are located somewhere around the Brentwood / Basildon / Wicklow areas. Following the edge of the "black map" I noticed other terrain creeping. Lines of trees crossing the black area denoting water courses or rail tracks and roads going nowhere. Last time I visited London, I am sure the detailed terrain ended in a more or less straight line. Are these detailed areas vestiges of an abandoned plan to originally make a bigger map and have always been there, or has someone been quietly beavering away, adding detailed terrain in the background?
  4. Concur. The day night modes work on the rotary switches but the display rocker switch +/- has no effect. On night mode the displays are at full brightness.
  5. Single player. VR. When bailing out, I as the pilot will dive out the bottom hatch and when chute opens I watch for the nav to get out. Nothing. I thought he might have got out first, so have a look behind and upwards. Nothing. On the ground I have a look around for another chute coming down. Nada. The Navs are getting very sniffy about flying with me now. I found a note pinned to my footlocker the other day. It said "Navs are not just for Christmas".
  6. Found the problem. My bad. I thought the switch with the bar between the two above the bomb panel was the cine gun camera / bomb photoflash selector switch. I did not realise it was the bomb master arm switch. I thought the gun master arm switch was to arm all the weapons.
  7. I guess there is no animation model for the pilot and the wing interaction. When you bail out in the air, you go through the bottom hatch. On the ground you go out the top, but the pilot just falls through the wing. I guess something is registering the ground as solid, then semi registering the wing as solid and goes into some type of logic error. The spitfire has the same problem, just that it the spit is still on its wheels, the pilot model gets stuck in the wing.
  8. I took on board what others have said. I just could not get off the ground without skidding sideways everywhere. The trick as someone advised is setting boost against brakes. So I trim nose down 1.5 graduations. Rudder right trim to about the T in trim. Aileron trim stbd to the M in trim. Start engines, taxi to the runway. Apply the brake and put the flaps down 10 degrees. Increase power to +4 boost against the brakes, check prop pitch is full fine, stick full back. Brakes off and slowly increase power to +8 boost over a couple of seconds. Let go of stick. By this time the rudder is becoming effective and the mossie lifts itself off with very minimal use of stick at around 120 mph. Just a slight hint of backpressure to drop the tail a little. Once off, there is virtually no ballooning at all. Using the correct technique I would say it's easier to takeoff than the hog. You don't need pull back on the stick at all, just a gentle nudge.
  9. Offline. Mission from cold and dark start, channel map. Two 250lb GP bombs in bay. Nothing on the wings. No damage incurred on run to the target and nothing untoward happened during taxi or takeoff to damage the shackles like tail banging.
  10. Hi. Just got the mossie and slowly working through my issues with it. Glad it's not just me that was having takeoff woes. The issue I have now is dropping the bombs in the bomb bay. I have successfully dropped bombs from the wings previously, but can't get the bay shackles to release. I'm obviously missing something. Run in to target. Bay doors open. Master switch armed. Bomb panel switches set for fuselage on and bomb fuses armed on. I press the release and nothing. Both bombs are hung up. Try again with every switch on panel on. Still nothing. TM warthog stick n throttles. Machine guns bound on first trigger detent. Cannons bound on second trigger detent. Bomb release bound on stores release button and double checked that it is still correctly bound to bomb release in control options.
  11. I wonder if the textures will be updated across the entire map to include the latest developments. I am a map addict, always buy a new terrain, but thought that ugra dropped the ball a little with Normandy on first release. It got better but still needs a revamp to bring it up to Syria and channel standards. I say channel standards now because after the last update, it is finally playable in VR. Still can't help thinking that ED and the third parties should be getting together with shared basic grid technology so the maps can be slotted together seamlessly. Instead of having to redo the channel map, then they could have gone North to East Anglia and Lincolnshire bomber counties, or gone South to italy.
  12. I have heard it said (from Simon Pearson) that ED plan to implement ray tracing /support DLSS in the future. Has anyone heard of any rough timeframes - even to the year? As mentioned elsewhere, airport floodlighting needs seriously addressing.
  13. Airport lighting will be reworked when they introduce ray tracing in the future. At present the game engine does not support multiple light sources.
  14. The Vulcan is my number one favourite aircraft but I doubt most here would like it very much. Anyone who ever sat in the pilots seats will tell you that the cockpit windows are tiny and the view out is pretty appalling.
  15. The thing about the marianas though, and probably why they chose it is that it is pretty much all sea that is easy on performance. Again a balance between low detailed areas and a few smaller but much higher detailed areas with no terrain mesh to be loading 40 - 50 miles ahead. I can see the past meetings when they were discussing how best to display the eye candy without a slideshow on lower end PCs. Very clever compromise.
