  1. I am trying to set my custom views, and I know all about LeftAlt-C and RightAlt+Num0. What I can't seem to figure out is how to move my view laterally, not pivoting like moving my head. I have tried holding down my middle mouse button, but the view still swings. I want the camera to slide laterally left or right so that I can zoom in on the MFDs and capture the custom views. I've tried every combination of ALT, Ctrl, Shift and WIN keys, to no avail. Any input would be greatly appreciated. P.S. - I do have TrackIR, but it is centered and paused in the normal pilot view, if that means anything... P.P.S. - You can close this out. I found the magic combo: RIGHT CTRL+RIGHT SHIFT+Numpad 4 (or 6). It was in the Camera Alternative list. I'm gettin' too old to do this anymore! -= Florida =-
  2. I currently have 3 Cougar MFDs, and since I lost my X-56 throttle, I'm trying to use the buttons and switches on the middle one to assign functions for my A-10C II. The Controller page shows both the left and right MFDs programmed for the TAD and TGP screens, but will not let me assign MFD #3 for anything - if I try, it simply swaps it for one of the other MFDs. It does show up with the F-18, which has 3 MFDs in the cockpit. But it won't allow 3 MFDs in the A-10. Is there some way I can force #3 to be listed with the other 2 so that I can assign the buttons and switches to things like the Boat Switch, etc.?
  3. I just (tried to) fly the same mission again, and as part of my preflight, I checked the fuel, and both wing tanks were full, and the fuselage tank was empty. There are no wing tanks. Now it appears I am having intermittent problems with the throttle side of my Logitech X-56. As I was attempting to join up with the flight, the throttle, mixture and prop controls stopped working. It seems the controller just stopped. Had to reboot, but I'm thinking now that the throttle is crapping out on me and I might have to switch over to my Honeycomb TQ to complete any missions. Wish I had bought the Warthog instead of this thing. JUst had problems with two different Logi mice, and I'm starting to think that Logitech has stopped making dependable products.
  4. Art,it was the Missions screen, and the top two in the first section and the first two in the lower section (4 entries in all). And I did check the choices in the Main set-up...it's set up for Simulation and not for Game. And you probably have something about just going online and taking my lumps. I almost made Storm of War before they shut down. Any recommendations as to best servers?
  5. Okay, Art: And maybe in the process, you can tell me why there are 4 entries on my Mission screen for this. Thew mission is "Atlantic Wall Raid - Bomber Escort" I do own the WWII Assets Pack, the Normandy and the Channel terrains, so I should be good to go. The aircraft listed in at least one of the 4 missions says "P-51-30-NA*1". When I load to the start screen and open the Controls screen, it comes up with "P-51D Real" so I don't think I'm flying in Game Flight. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm trying to learn how to fly these missions before I come online and make a total fool of myself.
  6. I have both folders in my Saved Games folder. SO - first off, how do I even know which folder I am modifying? IOW, when I load the Mustang in DCS, which one am I loading? If I knew how to pick and choose, I'd do so, but if I heavily modify the one I load (not knowing which one it is), then how do I go to my folders and copy/paste that file into the "other" folder. I have no idea what I'm doing here, and when I open the .lua files, it's even more confusing. ADD: I just went into the Mission mode again and picked the first one - something didn't work (Gear Up/Down) so I paused the mission and went into my Control Options. And, WTF! The controls were all set differently. I believe they were set to P-51D Easy. So when I load one of these missions, whoever wrote them decides what I am flying????? I mean, I'm still in the Mustang, but the controls are junk. I just went and reassigned my gear and other switches to Real, but I don't have any idea what will happen when I go back into the mission.
  7. I know where my specific "Saved games" folder is. Maybe you could give me some advice as to what I need to edit in these .lua files. And Art, the only mission I have attempted so far is the very 1st on the list, accompanying bombers. I don't know who the author is - I'll check.
  8. Well, my bad, but as part of a DCS included mission, I guess I assumed I was fully fueled, so I have no idea what I had on board. I know from flying the P-51 in other venues that you always start on the left tank due to overflow details. I will double-check before I start the next mission attempt. However, I also know how to use the fuel switch, and I knew I was switching to the actual right-hand tank. I een went os far as to turn the fuel boost switch on before moving the switch to the right side. The only way the engine would run is on Left! I will go back and be more observant next time. I will also make sure to fuel up my own aircraft if possible.
  9. Trying to fly one of the missions (the very first one, escorting bombers) and well into the flight, I decided to switch tanks to the right side. Shortly after, the engine quit. I immediately switched back to the left tank, and everything worked fine. Sorry that I forgot to check on the fuel gauges before I started, but I am assuming that my plane has been fully fueled up before escorting bombers over Germany. Any reason for that?
  10. I was constantly having that problem, and panicking, when I finally realized that my Mixture was randomly going to Idle Cut-off. I still have the problem - no idea what is causing it - but I now have a switch on my throttle with 'up' being RiUN and 'down' being Idle Cut-off, and a button for Full Military Power. And as soon as I hear that Merlin cough, I just click on 'RUN' to fix it. I also thought that I may have a duplicate binding I didn't know about, so I went to that binding and deleted everything connected to Mixture, including the keyboard commands. It still happens randomly, but not as bad. Tell the truth, I'm beginning to suspect my X-56 throttle control, because I have also had both gear activations and flap activations with no physical inputs. ..both controls are on the throttle control.
  11. Maybe I've missed something, but I can't remember ever seeing a choice between the 25 and the 30. Where exactly is that choice? I have been frustrated doing the tutorials in "the P-51, and flying it quite nicely, and then getting into some of the campaigns and can't even taxi the plane. And I also have random occurances of the mixture going to cut-off in the middle of a flight, or the gear deciding to cycle. Anyway, much of this may have to do with differences in bindings between the two models.
  12. Thanks, Art! I wanted to play around on Phil's server, and don't do any of the German birds. Fly the P-51 right now, but want to figure out the Spit. I'm about to give up on the tutorials...I set binding for trim control (rudder and pitch) and while doing the taxi/takeoff class, I trimmed the rudder back and forth for 10 minutes with no results, using the trim top-hat on the stick. Then I found out that the tutorialonly responds to the mouse doing the trimming. I'll look up some of the others' tutorials. Phil's instructions on changing the pitch curve saved my ass a lot of trouble.
  13. Got it fixed! Renamed my Spit directory, and DCS wrote a new one. Had to set up all the controls all over again, but the problem was solved. Must've been something in my bindings that I just couldn't find. As an aside, always had problems taxiing the Spit, until I solved it MY way. Binding both rudder pedal toe brakes to the wheel brakes, all I have to do now is step on the appropriate rudder pedal and hit the toe brake. Lot easier to control. Now I just have to figure out how to fly it.
  14. For awhile, I even suspected my Voice Attack app, though I try to mute the mic when I'm not giving a verbal command. Thought maybe it was picking up garbage sound and interpreting that as a valid command. But even with VA not running, it's the same thing, the same few controls - flaps, gear, mixture - that keep autonomously activate. Back to the investigation.
  15. Well, first of all, that extension wouldn't work with my X-56 stick, so I'd need a new, more expensive rig to do it. Right now, I've mounted my stick between my legs where the grip would be, and after watching Philstyle's "Twitchy" video, finally figured out how to trim the stick to move properly. But thanks for the input. I doubt I'll ever get around to those expensive controllers - the most I've spent so far is for the Honeycomb Bravo throttle quad.
