  1. What were the proper orders? Thanks in advance, jda8818 (AKA: Major Major)
  2. Ran DCS.exe which was normal. Game ran fine. Closed out, restarted computer and ran the game process which included the updater. Updater ran normally (very briefly, no updates found apparently). All is well, and many thanks. jda8818
  3. Successful update to latest open beta today; game seemed to run fine for about an hour. Took a break, returned about an hour later and the updater ran continuously. No crash, just couldn't find any updates and kept looking. Love your product! jda8818
  4. Used Flappie's shortcut method, see reply to gunny following. Took less than ten minutes overall at which point i got a msgbox which said "Successfully updated to 2.7.15.26738@openbeta". Woo Hoo! Many thanks to all, but especially my new friend Flappie! jda8818 **Solved, Closed**
  5. Hello Everyone ... I'm thinking of moving from the stable version of DCS (Current) to the Beta version. Seems like I could erase (remove) the entire stable version and subsequently install the entire Beta version or ... possibly just download and install the Beta file on top of everything else?? Probably safer to entirely remove and then reinstall? Thanks in advance for any comments or suggestions, jda8818
  6. Seems to have Fixed It! I'm using Malwarebytes, but the same exclusion process produced the intended result! Can't thank you enough Rudel_chw !!! Happy Flying, jda8818
  7. Hello to Everyone: I've recently been seeing brief (1/2 to 1 second) screen freezes that might occur every one to two minutes, sometimes more often, seemingly at random. Sort of a very low frequency stutter. Reinstalled latest version of Windows 10, DCS World, etc., without success. Problem might have been related to a Win 10 update (older version of Win 10, 1503 I think) that occurred in the last week or so. Win 10 64 bit Pro, Version 1709 now. MSI Z170A M7, i7-6700K, 32 GB DDR4 2600, New SSD, MSI GTX 1080, AZUS MG279. Latest BIOS, latest drivers, etc etc. Problem persists, and i'm running out of things to try ... Many thanks in advance for any comments or information, jda8818
  8. HyperX Cloud II Headset New purchase, $100.00 plus tax. Seems to work very well. When used with the included USB dongle, by default the headset is the 'Default Communication Device', while HDMI audio output (in my case) is the 'default Audio Device'. This allows for airplane sounds to emanate from the HDMI Monitor speakers, while the Teamspeak 3 audio comes from the headset. If you want all audio to live in the headset, you go to 'sounds' in Control Panel and click on the HyperX 7.1 'default Communication Device' and it then becomes the 'default Audio Device'. This works for me on both a Windows 7 machine as well as a Windows 10 machine. Clicking again reverts back to the default. When you plug in the USB dongle the driver software is automatically loaded from the dongle itself. Apparently the dongle is a 7.1 sound card and includes volume controls for both the speaker audio and the mic audio. Pretty Cool ... jda8818
  9. Doodenkoff: Thank you for your response! In this case, since I only have two machines, one of them (the windows 10 box probably) needs to act as both a server and as a client as well. The problem, I think, is that each machine (DCS World Installation) can only be dedicated to one user's active modules. Trying to log on as user 'Joe' causes a 'invalid serial number' error if user 'Bob' has already activated modules on the subject PC. I have looked around and noticed that it is possible to either 'remove' or 'deactivate' a module from a machine. So for instance I'm thinking that if I 'remove' or 'deactivate' all of my active modules on the Window 7 machine it will then be available for use by my friend to activate his purchased modules and we can play the game. Each of the two machines will need to be dedicated to one of the two users. So: Win 10: DCS World 1.5 acting as server, user 'me', my active modules and Win 7: DCS World 1.5 not acting as server, user 'friend' , friends active modules That seems to make sense, but I'm wondering if I should 'remove' or 'deactivate' my active modules from the Win 7 machine? My guess is that if I choose 'deactivate' I will loose the activation on both machines (modules will not be available on any machine). so I'm going to try to 'remove' my active modules from the win 7 machine ... that is unless someone has some information to the contrary ... as always, thanks in advance for comments or suggestions, jda8818
  10. Hello everyone, Preparing for LAN Multiplayer setup. I have two machines (win 7-64 & win 10-64) behind a router. Both machines currently have identical DCS World 1.5 installations with one registered user (me) and three airplanes (A10-C, P-51D, F-15C) on each machine. I can log on to either PC and fly any one of the three airplanes. Both installations were made available to 'all users' of each machine, although only the Windows 7 box actually has more than one login user. In order to provide for multiplayer use, it seems I need to register another DCS user (done, using the digitalcombatsimulator.com website registration utility) and purchase modules for that user as necessary. Do I need to download and install a complete new (duplicate) DCS World 1.5 installation for that user (on the Windows 7 machine)? I'm asking because when I invoke DCS world and try to logon as the newly registered user my logon is rejected with an error message 'invalid serial number' for two of my three purchased modules (the F-15 and the P-51 which were purchases #2 and #3). About the only thing I can do is download and install (and register) a second complete DCS World installation on one of the machines (windows 7 box) and see what happens. But it seems sort of wasteful. So the question becomes 'is each DCS World installation limited to one user?' As always, thanks in advance for any comments or suggestions, jda8818
  11. Fixed! New Video Card! Thanks to all and my apologies. It's a famously fine flyin' machine! Fun! Thank you - may still apply Madog's trim tab method - sounds good. jda8818
  12. Yikes! Hello to all and thanks for your responses and good ideas! I have an obligation today but I will provide further 'feedback' (grin) this PM or tomorrow. Thank you, Jda8818
  13. Sryan: The axis controls (pitch, roll, yaw) all work fine; I've spent plenty of time tuning etc. There does not appear to be a way to modify the trim tab response. I'm not familiar with the 'stability augmentation system' and 'attitude enhancement' controls but I'll look those items up after I post this reply, and I'll try to get back on the forum with some results. I will be a happy pilot if these systems stabilize the airplane. Thanks for your interest Sryan, jda8818
  14. Hello, Anybody notice how hard this is to accomplish? It would be impossible to certify an airplane that is this unstable, and it seems to be worse in 'game' flight mode oddly enough. 2000 ft/min up, 3000 ft/min down, etc. Played with dead spots, curvature, saturation, etc. with some improvement, but still way more difficult than the real thing. I must be doing something wrong, but for the life of me I don't know what it is. I'm using a Thrustmaster Warthog and trying to make trim adjustments as delicately as possible, but the airplane acts like the CG is way aft. Any comments would be appreciated. jda8818
  15. Hello everyone, New install DCS World 1.5, & new Thrustmaster Warthog Stick/Throttle combo. Flying the A-10C. Windows 10. Seemed to work fine, very cool until recently after only about 3 hours of total time the slew control stopped working. Had been working but stopped. At this point the software does not recognize the slew control on startup and it cannot be added later. As if the slew control does not exist. The Thrustmaster TARGET Device Analyzer does recognize the slew control however, and it appears to work correctly in this framework. It is very sensitive, but responds. I'm not sure how to analyze the extent of travel, etc. I've mapped the slew control to the control stick POV1 with a LCTRL modifier, but I would rather have this new combo operate properly in the DCS/A-10C environment. As always, any comments or suggestions would certainly be appreciated ... Thanks in advance, jda8818
