1. I play on Open Conflict. As long as you don't team-kill, or try to kill people in the safe zones, no one much cares what you do. You can group up with people to do stuff, or go solo.
2. :rotflmao: cleans Dr. Pepper off his monitor :rotflmao: Stupid forums won't let me up your reputation to the stratospheric heights required. But seriously thanks for all the work you put into this. I hit the tip jar every month I fly.
3. Here is a link from the author for the Huey cockpit mod I use: https://www.dropbox.com/s/kgcnzfoy66itjfc/UH-1H-CPT-TEXTURES.zip?dl=0 He says it is always a work in progress which is why he hasn't released it. I think it is beautiful. Works great for me. Your mileage may vary. Some restrictions apply.
4. Blue Flag has been doing testing, with some longish down times occasionally. I can easily see some coming to OC to get a multiplayer fix.
5. Snazzy isn't it? Unfortunately I just found it linked to a Youtube video and I don't even remember which one. It is labeled "Skullleader UH-1H Cockpit", but I can't find where he's released such a mod. I'll email him and see about it.
6. *looks at the buzzing from the hornets nest he just kicked* Honestly I ain't mad. I just figured there might be some techniques I'm not using due to my high level of noobness :joystick: . On the other map there are plenty of bendy, twisty, mountains and ravines to hide in, but on the current map not so much. I still managed to make it back to the FARP alive 2 or 3 times, one time carrying my own rescue from a previous shootdown. My last trip last night I was on the ground at a safe house with another Huey pilot. He got exploded right in front of me and I took some damage. Looking at the screencap I took on the way back it was an F15 with an AIM120. I've blanked out the names on the screencap, but it wasn't the same guy who shot me down earlier. But I brought that pilot back to the FARP alive. Hell, even the copilot lived.
7. > Overwatch not dispatching players on a Medic helicopter *ears perk up* I've been killed just about every day in my gunless Huey. Everytime by the same guy, who I won't name because its perfectly valid gameplay. He says Gazelles are scary and he doesn't know if I am one or not. I'm already flying nap of the Earth at 100kts. Is there anything else I should be doing to avoid kills like this? I rarely even see the guy killing me before the missile hits.
8. Came back 2 days ago after a hugely long break. Startup DCS and Open Conflict today and *wind*... I have never flown my Huey in any sort of wind before. Apparently, you have to do a lot of pilot s**t :joystick:. Took me 4 minutes just to land at the FOB. It was very..... OMG it was AMAZING ! I LOVE IT. Thanks for developing and hosting this amazing server Mirknir.
9. I know Huey isn't the right helicopter and its just a white building, but every time I land at a forward hospital....
10. I didn't say it wasn't . It is an amazing accomplishment . I liked the video from reddit yesterday too (although the audio gave me cancer). I'm an EVE Online player who ganks miners and thinks its hilarious, so no QQ'ing from me. I was just pointing out what in my view is the hypocrisy of celebrating a fabulous gank :joystick: of a parked helo while complaining about AI shooting down armed helos in flight in the conflict zone.:music_whistling: Lets all be bros again, :pilotfly: even those of you who fly fixed wing.
11. I'm confused. An AI CAP ruins your fun by shooting down your helos in flight, but shooting a helo sitting on the FARP is ok. Wat?
12. On the Kashuri map, an AI once shot me up while I was starting my engines up on the Blue FARP. It was hilarious.
13. Looking like not only do you not get the fixes, you get a different set of bugs with the patch. http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2866283&postcount=3010 But that is what you get for coveting fixed wing upgrades when Huey is life.
14. I'd fly a Huey from server start to restart which I did in Round 7. But for Round 8 during my usual gaming hours the server is full. If a lot of people are sitting out, it isn't the Americans.
15. My life is empty and has no meaning....
16. Considering I have to wait to get on the server during US primetime, I'd say the current map is plenty popular. I loved Tuapse too, but don't stress about it Mirknir. We be havin' all da fun. :pilotfly:
17. I just have voice commands that do multiple menu commands for me. For instance, as a Huey pilot I have a command "chief rescue the pilot" that tells the crew chief to perform the rescue. That involves several F button presses, which is good because trying to press all those buttons while hovering is a huge pain. I also have ones like "report status pilot 1" which pulls up the chat window and does a "-re pil1" command. Or "report status capture 1" for "-re cap1". All that and I'm still terrible. But it isn't Voice Attack's fault, VA is fantastic.
18. The Huey was fine. He was happy. I use Voice Attack. Been using it for a couple of years for Elite Dangerous. Works OK in DCS, you just have to take care to put the menus themselves in a known state before you start using voice commands to work the menu. For instance, when you take off if the menu doesn't go back to the main menu, then you need to manually put it back there before doing voice commands. There is probably a way to get the VA command to insure the menu is in a known state, but I haven't found a 100% foolproof way to do it.
19.:cry::cry: .... nah just kidding... I'm a noob, noobing it up daily :D Only the 3rd time for me. It was also my 3rd hour flying with my replacement HOTAS, the mighty Warthog. I was so nervous. I was just glad I didn't crash into you. The supply base is challenge to maneuver around. I liked that you went up one part of the Y to turn around and I went up the other. Kept us separated very nicely. I put every rocket I had into those tanks on the sides after you RTB'd. I couldn't destroy any of them. Tough little buggers. Lets do it again sometime!
20. I did that today! Me and an amazing pilot Hummel and other guy whose name I foolishly can't remember did a 3 Huey gunship flight to the Listening Post. Then Hummel and I returned to finish it off (I didn't know to attack the buildings next to the towers, I was attacking the towers). A hilarious bit of fail where me and the other guy crashed our choppers trying to do a rescue; Hummel had to rescue us. Then we reshipped and flew on to take out the Spec Ops incursion without dying. Don't get me wrong though, I'm not complaining about being bored. I'd fly Medevac all day, it is a lot of fun. I was just trying to understand why I couldn't get into deliveries which also seemed to be my bag. Thank you it does help to better understand what the possibilities are. I'll mostly stick with the Medevac and gunship and leave the deliveries to the Mi8s. I saw what you did there. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Yours is wrong. But you are entitled to it.
21. Delivery Missions Mirknir I'm sure you have stats, but are people doing a lot of the delivery missions? I thought I would like doing them, but I've found otherwise. On the new map I used to do the Blue Forward Carrier whenever I was around for restart. It took two trips in the Huey, but only 15nm so who cares. But then I had nothing to do around the carrier. Sometimes a pilot would be on the cruiser, but even when I'd pick him up, it was better to go inland to a safe house and then on to the FOB. Better meaning: I'd find more stuff to do with little downtime. So now I don't do the carrier much any more. For the rest of the places that need deliveries I would need to fly a long ways to pickup supplies, or respawn in a new aircraft. I hate respawning because, well as you saw above, I like to see how long I can live. Not sure I've ever supplied the field hospital, although I have dropped off pilots there. So mostly what I do on the current map is spawn at the Blue FOB. There I am immediately greeted with a bunch of safe houses that need pickups. While I am doing those, usually PVP pilots are dropping around that same area. Is there some change, other than not flying a Huey (Huey is Life), that I can make to my play style to be able to do more of the deliveries? It would be nice if supplies, maybe in limited quantities or random intervals, spawned at the FOB. And I'd love to take pilots to the Forward Carrier more, but it seems like the FOB is always closer, and those boys need medical care most rikki tik.
22. I'll go against the grain and say I like it. Anything that makes the server events more dynamically linked. One of my favorite things is how PVP kills result in NPC rescues being spawned. So anything else that can happen dynamically like that is super.
23. You want to see this. Oh yes, you do. Oh what is this? What is it? Look at it! Have you ever seen it????
|YES, YES, it is...... the Huey LOW FUEL LIGHT!!!! YES!!!! LOW FUEL!!!!
And in case you think I'm some sort of cheater who would use a light fuel load just to score fake Internet points, check out those real Open Conflict points. 3hr30min of flying all in the same airframe. Good landings and unusually no non-consensual sexy time from Redfor fighters.
24. I have that mod installed. Maybe you can't tell because I have the volume down a bit. Do me a favor and take a screenshot of your audio level setup in DCS. I've fought that thing for hours before trying to get a nice sound that doesn't make me want to wear ear plugs inside my headphones.
25. I didn't list it because I couldn't find a published source. Just a link to a dropbox file on another video labeled "UH-1H Cockpit textures mod by Skulleader". But the mod isn't listed on the ED site or the forums as far as I can tell. This is the dropbox link. Use at your own risk. https://www.dropbox.com/s/fe1pfg4r0ccwvc0/UH-1H-CPT-TEXTURES.zip?dl=0
