Let me remind you, the US lost almost 10,000 aircraft during the Vietnam war, a war which the US lost, and dropping napalm did little to curb the North's aggressiveness.  The US had some of the most advanced tech at the time, yet it all meant nothing to the "2-legged creatures" who whooped our asses.

Please ED, or another third party, bring us a Vietnam map.

Don‘t forget those „2-legged creatures“ were supported and supplied by the Soviet Union.

  4. Actually every map is just a sandbox. It depends on yourself or the mission developers what you make of it. I don‘t expect some type of Mirage or the Sea-Harrier to be ready, when the Falklands map will be released - but maybe a few years later.

Die X-31 oder die X-29.. das wäre mal geil.  😄

Was sollte daran in DCS geil sein?

It's pretty funny seeing people asking for expanded Naval Ops, anti-subwarfare, expanded ground ops, expanded this, expanded that in a flight sim that even the flying part currently needs a lot of work. I mean, the one thing this game is focused on is still coming up very short with nearly non-existent AI (both on the ground, and also in the primary focus of air combat), no dynamic campaign yet (a staple of most 90s flight sims as I recall). The only foray into "expansion" we have currently is Combined Arms, which is very barebones and itself extremely hobbled by the entirely absent ground AI.

So what are we going to do, add ships and subs and what have you, and then ALSO not have AI or a dynamic environment to use them in? I say this as one of the hardest of the hardcore fanbois around here, not as a criticism of ED (as I'm quite lenient with these short comings). But at the same time... the core bits of DCS are nearly 20 years old, and even for 20 years ago these main aspects of AI and campaign were poor. So no, I'm not really a fan of "expanding" the game into even more half-baked diversions with awful AI and nowhere to use them? DCS only does two things very well, and two things only, and those two things are the modeling of the individual aircraft themselves and the graphics/environment (and that second a relatively recent addition). There are FAR more pressing concerns.

Who do you expect to simulate in naval ops? The captain, the radar officers, the gunners and what else is creeping around on and under the deck? We‘ve got lots of other problems in DCS that need attention.

  8. In my opinion the graphical represetation or animation of the pilot is absolutely irrelevant for a flight simulator. In a simulator you are sitting inside a cockpit while looking outside. Everything else is arcade gaming. So I don‘t need to see the pilot‘s eyes (wether blinking or not). The moving chest was a bad joke. Investing time in the pilot‘s face is a waste of time - especially as long as we have lots of major bugs in DCS.

artificial intelligence in common simulators is programmable and customizable but it is not intelligent.

true artificial intelligence is that which learns from its mistakes and corrects itself and develops to improve.

you can experience this intelligence in new quantum PCs but in a normal PC artificial intelligence has its logarithms and is based on these logarithms.

I suppose that by logarithm you mean algorithm…:smartass:
