DCS A-10C damage model screenshots
HitchHikingFlatlander replied to EvilBivol-1's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Uh oh Cat_101 your disappearing wing problem might not go away LOL! Thanks for the screens! -
LOL Yeah I seem to lose hydraulics or an engine or two usually! Although I have lost wings too. The question shouldn't be what are you getting hit with but how are you getting hit in the first place............... Any sight of the Hog and the enemy should be running! In a perfect world at least.

Thanks for the link Hassata!

Ground attack vs Air to Air
HitchHikingFlatlander replied to Callsign.Vega's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
^+1 My favorite " It can survive having a 2002 VW Beetle launched at it at extremely high velocity by a Russian-made Volkswagen Cannon" Ain't that the truth? Runner up: " launching missiles shaped like those giant oversized boxing gloves from the cartoons which give enemy commanders the middle finger before punching them in the balls, and then detonating with enough force to create a volcanic eruption on Mars" Derka Derka that sucka! -
This is exactly what I need to try. I recently fried my Saitek Rudder pedals and to fix them I wired the pot to my old Logitech Wingman Digital pot wires. I had converted this joystick to a switch box sometime ago but never used the axis'. The rudder fix worked but I think I'm missing the full left/right outer movement (probably about 20-40%). I think this might be the tool I need to fix that range issue. Thanks a ton for the info and links! I should check if I can adjust this in game first though.......

A great classic happy ending story for the Hog and it's pilot. I've read that one quite a few times.

Ground attack vs Air to Air

^^LOL Better yet how much A/A combat thats taken place in the last 30yrs that wasn't practically a one sided fist fight. Most of that A/A combat was poorly matched! Not all cases but I'd guess most. -

Great progress that's going to be an impressive pit!

Nice pit and nice stereo system! You just need some 20" landing gear rims! Great example of why I love home pit builders!

Mating Logi Wingman with Saitek Rudder Pedals

Mating Logi Wingman with Saitek Rudder Pedals
HitchHikingFlatlander replied to HitchHikingFlatlander's topic in Home Cockpits
I'm going to use the existing pots already in my saitek pedals IN place of the old Logitech ones . Can I assume the existing rudder pots will be sufficient? I'm not planning on getting any new pots What about these numbers I'm really trying hard to interpret or understand what I'm reading and how I'm reading them. Or are you pointing out that it really doesn't matter. I'm not an electronics guy and my skills are limited. Thanks for the help! -
Well a couple nights back while plugging in my simpit I crossed the power adapters on my two USB hubs. I caught the mistake instantly but apparently it fried the electronics of my Saitek rudder pedals. I already came to the conclusion that its dead so I thought I'd combine the rudder pedals using my old logitech wingman joystick. I took the joystick apart some time ago and soldered switches/buttons to the board and didn't need the pots so I stuffed them inside the project box. What I'd like to do is wire those old pot wires in the logitech to my rudder pedals pots. The problem I'm running into is that I'm not sure how to read the resistance of the logitech and saitek pots respectively. I have the right tools (Fluke 83 III Digital Meter). But testing the Logitech pots gave me readings of 24.xX-95xX low and high (or turn one direction to other). I haven't gotten as far to take my pedals apart again to test those pots yet. Do the above readings sound right? What should I be careful of? (the way I understand is the pots have to have the same range ie: 1k, 10k, 100K, etc....) If all fails I'll just get a Leo Bodnar board but by using the spare pot wires in my old Logitech board I'll save time and money. And I need to hold onto cash as we have a newborn! Just to not confuse anyone I don't plan to use the actual Logitech pots (they're cheap plastic) but use the wiring off the logi. board to my rudder pots. Thanks for help in advance I know the expert pit builders here will have some good advice!

Xifos +1 Sir, I think you nailed it on the head. I for one will admit I'm 75% on it already. The other 25% is reserved for real reviews after it comes out. I think one thing we can all agree on is that this will be the most exciting controller to come our in a LONG time! Whether your skeptical of quality or dislike the questionably high price it's still the baddest looking combat flight controller since the Suncom or early Cougar days. -
Thanks man I now have The Clash's Brand New Cadillac and for some reason Wrong Em' Boyo stuck in my head. And then I get to the end and now I can only think of Peter Griffin on Family Guy singing the Bird Is The Word! Great vid and flying!

Wags why couldn't they have been beer holders? Could they still be dual purpose.............?

Protos amd Logite it's just a HOTAS when it comes down to. Yes an expensive one but a HOTAS. You guys should chill out and argue the real points in more constructive manner. We are a passionate sim community and we all get (myself included) a little too heated sometimes! Let's all have a beer! ^Good point Bearitall. Most complaints are based off the cougar issues, price or the fact it doesn't have an ancient port for simpeds. I completely understand unhappy Cougar owners they have every right to be skeptical of build quality. But the I agree with your views on the pricing complaints. Like I said earlier today. This Jaguar costs too much, count me OUT! It's not Jaguars fault they don't make affordable cars, they're a luxury car maker. Thrustmaster is one of the elite stick manufacturers, its really no different. -

With all the E3 news about DCSA10 and TM's Warthog I thought those details screamed dual release, as it would make for one hell of a package deal and close to Christmas is good too. I think I might have a idea to put on my list and everyone in the family can contribute LOL! And since I'm a New Years baby it can be a dual X-Mas/B-Day present. Man this is looking so bad now, I think I might be able to keep one of my kidneys! -

Not only signing your own death sentence, it's also like "here use my gun and bullets too". I don't have to feed my wifes stuff to the dogs I just let the wife leave her stuff lying around. Although at least they only like socks so far, my wifes socks that is! -

Its not a fanboy thing though its a REPLICA controller thing, thats reason number one for high price. I should add that other than a cheap USB gamepad I've never owned a TM product (no fanboyism involved). I can see the Warthog HOTAS for what it is based on what everyone knows right now. TM is the only company I know of in almost ten years making off the shelf replica controllers anyways. As for comments from many that say I'm not buying it at that price, duh! You wouldn't have bought it in the first place because you guys fit the X52, X65, G940 market not high end controller market. Its like you can afford a Honda Civic and are complaining that a Jaguar cost too much and you won't buy one (of course you wouldn't have). I have to say personally I fall under the Civic category (more like Used Hyundia) and do everything on the cheap. But some things are worth saving for and a Jaguar is one of them! EDIT: Another quick example: I've ridden freestyle BMX (Flatland) for almost 10 yrs and have a BMX (20") bike with $2000 invested. Kids ask me all the time how much it costs and think they need a bike that expensive to perform the tricks I do. In reality I learned on a cheap bike and worked my up as I got better. This Warthog pricing scenario is similar you can sim with an X52 or you can use a Warthog, there are always different ends of the spectrum. My main argument isn't to say this controller isn't for poor people just that the pricing is in fact very fair in terms of simulation gear. Go to http://www.mycockpit.org and track down some of those guys vendor links. Some of these companies charge a first born child and kidney for things that aren't even as impressive as the Warthog. Hope I haven't offended anyone because thats not my intention. HHF -
You mean a heated/detailed debate with your wingman on Air Force Polices...............

LOOK FOLKS $500 dollars would be a FAIR price for this system. Why do you ask? Take a look at your generic X-52, X-65, Logitech FFB, etc..... notice none of those are metal or authentic in regards to a real A/C. Warthog is a "REPLICA HOTAS" not a "HOTAS" a REPLICA. That right there is a big difference alone. Logi's FFB HOTAS and Saitek's new X-65 aren't cheap either : X65F - $329.99 Logi FFB - $251 It's a replica not a space ship controller so no wonder its more money not to mention a replica is just that, before you factor in that is also a HOTAS! There is almost NO market for replica controllers and the companies that do make replica parts and controllers sell their stuff for much more that Warthog is going to cost. If you can't afford it then go buy a Suncom on ebay and mod it with a Leo Bodnar controller. Just don't act like TM is trying to rip people off because they're doing a noble thing by making a real HOTAS in the first place. Theres Saitek Evo Sticks and then there are Warthogs. Its not apples to oranges more like diamonds to oranges!
