I've just seen the price. Wow. A £920 bet on whether it's going to suit you or not, and if your rig is up to it. And Gun Jam you are right. The optical engine IS the device, everything else is there to support it and hold it in front of your eyes.

Just wondered what people think of the new Steam Frame headset, in relation to potentially using it for DCS? I think it looks promising?

As per my post Calvin, I have decided to return the Super and stick with my OG Crystal for now. I'm seriously considering the Dream Air though.

I also wasn't blown away by the visuals or performance over the OG Crystal, but I'm going to stick with the super and hope it improves..
I would probably keep the Super if I didn't have the OG sitting there, but it's a lot of money to upgrade, and if the Dream Air suits me I will probably try that after seeing more reviews.

Still not resolved, they offered to send me another optical engine, but would have taken 1 -2 weeks, I probably would have gone for this if they had been able to send me the micro-OLED version but they said it wasn't available yet.
So having seen the performance and visuals, it's just not a big enough jump for me over my OG Crystal, so I will keep using that one and return the Crystal Super. Will certainly consider the Dream Air when I've seen more pros and cons.

I don't know but earlier today I waited 2 hours on the chat system and failed to get a human, that after waiting 2 days for a ticket reply. I would say it is unacceptable for such a high value product which has known quality issues.

Replying to my own topic... So Pimax replied to my ticket. Asked me to upgrade to the latest Pimax Play, which is an obvious stalling tactic as a buzzing headset that does not adjust its IPD is clearly not a software issues.
So they asked me for a video if the 'update' didn't work. So I have sent one, again possibly another stalling tactic as this must be a known issue and the video does not add anything over my original text description.
No reply now for two days. I had a very good experience with my Pimax OG Crystal, but I am now starting to experience what others have complained about with Pimax and starting to get annoyed. And only 5 days left on my trial!

Having been trying the system for a few days and having real trouble with the IPD, I realised the buzzing sound kept going on and the numbers were not changing. I read a few links which mentioned this issue.. anyone know about it or have a way of fixing it?
Otherwise I may have to return it, I have raised a ticket though to see what Pimax say.

+1 for this, I really hope this fix is included, I hate the complexity of setting up VR properly for DCS and this is just one more thing!

I'm in a similar position. Just got my 57ppd Crystal Super as an upgrade to my OG Crystal which I've been very happy with. I changed to the 57ppd as I'd read it would be better for flightsimmers which is most of my VR play.
Sadly the sweet spot issue is also a dealbreaker for me, glancing out of the spot its not only out of focus but also shows chromatic aberration. This is of fundamental importance for scanning instruments. I'm going to do some more research, play with the IPD but otherwise I'll open a ticket to try and go back to a 50ppd optical engine.
Lastly, I was also very disappointed not to receive the DMAS headphones I was promised with my pre-order.

I believe in previous releases these options were DLSS-SR Override and DLSS-SR Preset (0x000FFFF is latest and 0x000000A is J if it gives you hex values). It may still appear like that.
I definitely have the latest 2.4.0.11 but I still get these options:
Enable DLSS-FG override
Enable DLSS-RR override
Enable DLSS-SR override
Not sure why that is, or what these 3 refer to but I will do as you suggested. -

Just wondering what people think is the best way currently of measuring stats while the game is playing, particularly CPU/GPU load, as I know there are quite a few ways of doing this?
(Looking at what best to next target for upgrade, CPU, GPU, RAM...)

I was on the Nvidia website at 2pm hoping to get a 5080 FE, refreshing every so often. It showed initially "Coming Soon" but after a few minutes that changed to "Out of Stock".. They must have sold out in seconds! Oh well, think I will stick to my 4070 for now, I'm not paying the inflated prices for 3rd party cards.

I have MIG Killers, and it's great, but way to much A2A for my liking. I'm VR only, and I don't like using labels as it breaks immersion, and at typical ranges in a turning fight in a fast jet, you just can't get the proper insight into your opponent's orientation and energy level.
So I much prefer A2G. Need more missions for that please

Difficult to say unless a pilot has flown both types.. I guess someone, somewhere who has access to the actual stats (which wire, bolters and mishaps) could provide definitive evidence on that.

Interesting thread. Like many, I find air refuelling one of the most challenging flying tasks in DCS. In the F-4E I can connect fairly easily but very tricky staying on the boom, mainly due to the slow response of the throttles. It feels fairly realistic though.
How do you mute Jester, he's not really saying anything wrong, I just find him distracting?

I find this the weirdest thing about the Phantom. No other aircraft I have flown (sim or real life) you would roll using the rudder alone.. takes some getting used to!

Anyone getting into VR on a PC needs to understand this is still very much a hobbyist environment. I have been involved in the industry and as a player in videogame graphics for 25+ years and I still find it challenging to setup and configure a PC application with optimal VR settings. And even then the software configuration requires constant attention.
This is not to forgive Pimax, but there are a lot of "moving parts" both in hardware and software, not all of which are under their control.
Patience very much required...

I haven't had any problems with my OG Pimax Crystal, apart from all the usual PC VR nonsense with OpenXr, PimaxXr, Quadviews, etc. etc. but you'll get that with any headset tbh.
I did return my Crystal Super though, not a big enough jump for me in quality over my OG, and when I saw the price of the OLED 'engine' that was it and I returned it.
Waiting now to see about Dream Air SE. (I think the additional res of the Dream Air is too much for my rig)
