  1. This is a good topic. I have a 6900XT that I’m very happy with and an upgrade to the 7900XTX is ideally the path I’ll follow. However…going AMD essentially locks you out of Pimax and Varjo headsets. That hasn’t been a problem for me to date, but I’m intrigued by the upcoming OLED MeganeX, but don’t yet know if it will support AMD cards.
  2. I also went from the S to the G2. As others have said the short answer is: yes - it's worth it, but with some qualifiers. The display is brighter and hands down better, despite the smaller sweet spot, and a VR Cover option will give you slightly better FOV. However, the WMR software is a pain and you're going to miss the more simple open-minimize-and-forget Occulus software. You're also, at some point, likely going to have a speaker that gets a static problem and the early G2's had a dodgy cable with a high failure rate (you're OK buying new, but careful of the cable if buying used). Controllers and tracking are also worse than the S if you play non-sim games. Finally, and this is particularly relevant to DCS, make sure you have a powerful GPU to power it. A pretty display is useless if you have no frames. Hope that helps; tried to give you a balanced view.
  3. +1 for the Hind Pirate Campaign! Reads like a plot from a 1950's Biggles book. Most campaigns gravitate towards realistic missions, which is what most people want, but something creative and a bit goofy like this would be a fun change of pace.
  4. I wouldn't go the sound card route. I get good sound from running a line out from the PC into an integrated DAC/Amp, which powers bookshelf speakers and has a line out to a subwoofer under the desk. This will give you good quality music/TV. These DAC/Amps also have headphone jacks so you can use headphones or earphones when you prefer. 4/7 EDIT: Here's the DAC/Amp I use as an example: https://www.ebay.com/itm/TEAC-AI-101DA-Integrated-DAC-Amp-for-Speakers-Headphones-Bluetooth-w-aptX/114753113402?hash=item1ab7d18d3a:g:F9AAAOSw7olgWueW
  5. It ships from Ohio, so if you’re on the east coast or Midwest it will be two days to most locations if you chose Ground. Ships UPS.
  6. Too early to tell in my case, I haven’t had time to dial in the settings to get the right balance yet. At native resolution this thing looks beautiful. Image is sharp, crisp, and bright. I dialed up a cold start in the Jeff and the cockpit was amazing (I’m coming from the Rift S)...just couldn’t fly it at 30 FPS /-:
  7. I'm still battling with DCS settings (1080ti here), but if anyone wants a quick preview of what the G2 can do in terms of clarity/brightness/contrast etc. download the free Aircar on Steam. It's not demanding so you can crank up super sampling to 3000 x 3000 res in SteamVR video settings. WOW.
  8. For power, the G2 plugs into the wall, so your math won’t change much when you get it.
  9. From HP on Reddit a few minutes ago... HP Reverb G2 Shipping Hello! We have received our final units and are so excited about the HP Reverb G2 product. We are officially in production and started shipping the first units to our channel partners. **What does that mean for you?** Pre-orders will start being delivered in early/mid November and continue throughout November and December. **When will the HP Reverb G2 come to my country?** The HP Reverb G2 pre-orders have now launched in 27 countries. We don’t have specific dates for additional countries at this point, but we are working to roll-out to additional countries. **Should I wait for the HP Reverb G2 Omnicept Edition?** The HP Reverb G2 is targeted for Consumers and Businesses. The HP Reverb G2 Omnicept is targeted for Enterprise and Developers. **Tell me something to get me extra jazzed....** We mentioned comfort and clarity in our last note and continue to be amazed by this. Kaiser’s favorite thing about the final units: Of course the lenses and calibration are great. But what gets him really excited is the production version of our controllers. The final texturing, fit and finish feel great in your hands and the trigger and button presses now feel “right.” **Thank you!** We are so excited for your HP Reverb G2s to start arriving. We continue to be grateful for the community, partners, reviewers and press. It makes our work really fun and worthwhile! Thank you for the passion for this product. We will see you in VR! 10. Buying on eBay is fine, but before you pull the trigger make sure you click on the seller. Read the feedback on them from other buyers. Ideally you want a seller with lots of previous transactions with 99%+ positive feedback.
  11. I spoke to Connection yesterday; the guy said they haven’t yet received the units but gave me the impression it’s close. Reading between the lines of his comments it sounds like early November for the first batch of preorders. First week of Nov is my guess FWIW.
  12. Here’s my experience - the full charge hit my credit card, but then went away after a few days. I sent a polite WTF email to them. Customer service was responsive and said it was to test the card and the full amount will not be charged until it ships.
  13. It’s been a tough time for music fans. The Jeff is skipping and the player on the Viggen was (still is?) crashing to desktop.
  14. Seconded, I see the same behavior. I have both the stable and latest open beta installed. The stable works fine but the open beta will play each track for about one second then skip to the next.

I'm halfway through a P-38 campaign in that other sim, and it's a really interesting, unique, beast and fun to fly. Dying to start clicking all the switches in DCS one day...
  16. Buzzed around Dover in the Gazelle yesterday and the detail is indeed fantastic. The map screams vehicular combat and for the first time I’m thinking about buying Combined Arms (shock horror) so I can drive around town and play hide and seek with Tigers and Panthers.
  17. Pre-order button is back on the HP website and you can now pay: https://www8.hp.com/us/en/vr/reverb-g2-vr-headset.html For US delivery it's currently $587 + $14 shipping + $38 tax (to CT) = $640 total.
  18. See if this direct link to the pre-order still works: https://ssl.www8.hp.com/h41268/live/index.aspx?qid=33354
  19. Re point 3, I have both on the same drive and there are no issues. If space is no problem add them both and use windows symbolic links to map the key folders in the second install to the relevant directories in your initial install (controller bindings, liveries, and missions) so you only have to maintain one set of files rather than two. This way you get to use all the new features of beta, but if there’s a bad beta update you just ignore it and play stable until it’s fixed. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  20. Thanks for doing these Rudel. I haven't tackled them yet but have no doubt they will be high quality.
  21. For future reference the I-16 ground attack instant action mission is cool as it’s set in a lightning storm.
  22. Great stuff, thank you. The campaigns get better and better, and will go up another gear when we get the WW2 damage model (in two weeks). Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  23. Hi Reflected, half way through Blue Nosed and enjoying it, so thanks for the creativity. I have a general question for you - now that tranche 2 of the WW2 assets pack has just dropped, what will this allow you to do, either in terms of updating existing campaigns or in new upcoming campaigns, that you haven’t been able to do before? Thanks Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  24. Thanks for the video - very helpful, and love the music player Deka! Also one suggestion for the devs: Having to label the music files "music_01" etc. is a little annoying because you don't know what the song is unless you write it down or listen to it. A simple change that would be helpful would be to change the filename convention to music_01_song title. Basically the app reads only the first 8 characters, and sees "music_01" like it does now, but we can then add the title so we know what it is when we're rearranging all the files. Please consider.
