  1. I've been wanting to slightly modify this mission to spread out the spawns of ground units and move some tasks up near anapa and krymsk. But i can not figure our where the zone screen pulls the co-ordinates from.
  2. ooh, you're right. well what if we assume non-super variants then? if prices drop significantly I might go for a non-super
  3. I'm looking at upgrading my PC in the next month or so, will likely wait to see what the super cards look like, but if price ratios are about the same, my question doesn't really change much. What would be more beneficial in DCS? I play about 50/50 between SP and MP 6GB VRAM with 32GB System RAM or 8GB VRAM with 16GB System RAM? Keeping in mind that i play at 1080p 60fps and not interested in getting into VR.
  4. I've been thinking of picking up the Normandy map for quite some time for a change of scenery. however i keep seeing people saying that it's incomplete and the performance is not great. Is this still the case? i'm well aware that it's incomplete but i'm wanting to know what kind of performance hit to expect (which seems to be because of the trees). currently without v-sync on, im able to achieve around 90-100fps in Caucasus with my settings., sometimes dropping under 60 momentarily when rapidly looking around in forested areas System specs that matter i5 7600k @ 4.5Ghz (OC) 16Gb ram GTX 1060 6Gb installed on SSD Is it worth it to pick up? i don't intend to fly it in MP so servers dont matter, or should i wait for an update?
  5. I have been able to hit things from 12nm away a few days ago.
  6. Reports over on Hoggit about it too. Guess i'm not doing the update yet then.
  7. Just getting back into DCS again and trying to catch up on all the updates since last time i flew, I was going through the updated thread and saw this in the notes "Laser code input updated" does this now mean that we can use our own custom laser codes or are we still restricted to 1111 or 1688 and just the way the laser code is physically put into the UFC was updated?
  8. No. you cant complain about DCS not being realistic for (reason) and then turn around and say that we should keep non-service weapons, because of "freedom"
  9. I mainly flew MP on the TTi maps but recently am discovering the fun of singleplayer again and making my own missions. I remember quite a while ago there was a way to get AI wingmen to join you on flights but i have not been able to figure out how to do this. this it still possible to do this and if so, how?
  10. I've looking at getting 2 small monitors to use as MFD exports which and plan to attach the cougar MFD controllers to. The most popular brand seems to be Lilliput. However they are quite expensive in my country and shipping from the US makes it worse. Does anyone just use generic/unbranded monitors or are there cheaper alternatives to Lilliput? i would love to get 1 large monitor and just attach the MFDs to it, but my desk space is hurting at the moment.
  11. It's likely not modelled yet. All the display brightness knobs just change the display from off to on at the moment. Might be implemented later
  12. even will all your responsibilities IRL, you still somehow find time to make these. you are a gentleman and a scholar
  13. a cheaper alternative, if you have a smart phone or tablet is Roccat Powergrid. basically the same thing and much easier to use
  14. I've recently been flying the Harrier, it's now my favourite module and have been trying to create a night mission since, you know, it's the night attack variant. but have been trying to find if it's even possible to have moonlight at night. everything that I've tested so far has just been pitch black. I run night missions with gamma at 2.2 but doesn't really help much and if i put it higher it just looks terrible. Is it possible in 2.5 currently? i know there are issues with the lights from building and stars being barely visible at the moment, so i'm assuming this would fall into the same category?
  15. Lately I've been messing around with the mission editor setting up solo missions to learn the different aspects of the harrier and occasionally jump online every now and again. However i've wanted to make a mission with a bit of randomization with AI wingmen. the player can either help attack the targets or act as an airborne FAC. Due to the way I'm wanting to set up the mission I don't think waypoints (search and engage) are really going to work. is it possible to mark a particular unit, or group of units with any of the above methods and get the AI wingman to engage them? or will they just attack what ever is in the general area they are in? Admittedly i have not don't much with AI wingman in any capacity outside of a few campaigns, is it possible to buddy lase for the AI, apparently the A-10c can for other A-10s, is this implemented for the harrier??
  16. Does it only happen when the predator is lasing? I have not had this issue with either self lasing or buddy lasing from another player aircraft. With that said i have not used any AI for buddy lasing.
  17. When binding the different switches (up and down) they do not reset after the control is actioned, they stay in the switched state as seen in the screen shot below. however can still be manipulated as normal. Seems more of a model/animation bug also the binding for Quantity down (1s)s actually changes the interval down (1s)
  18. 60hz monitor here, FPS locked to 60, not issues on my end
  19. Been looking into getting the Harrier for a while. now that 2.5 has dropped I've been getting back into DCS and looking for another ground pounder than isn't just the A-10c. I've always been a fan of the harrier and it's such a unique addition to the sim. But how would you rate it in terms of it's usability in it's current state? Im aware that being in EA there will be quirks and missing features but most of the things I've been hesitant about appear to be mostly implemented (at least in some form). Something I've seen in Youtube videos state that there was an issue with the TGP and LGBs stating that once you lock a moving target, if it had moved too far away from the lock point the system doesn't update the release point and might be too far outside the range for it to pick up the laser.
  20. I'll stick to my TrackIR thanks. Covering my eyes completely negates plans for my flight rig and my existing controllers
  21. So i'll be upgrading my flight rig at some point in the future and would likely go with either the GTX1060 or 1070. How's the 1060 currently holding up in 2.0? at the moment i'm only flying in 1.5 however would like my rig to be good enough for when 2.5 is released soon™. the GTX1060 is obviously cheaper and would prefer to go with this however would it be recommended to go a 1070 instead? keeping in mind that the primary use of this computer is for flight sims as i have a laptop that i take around with me while i travel which is technically my "main computer" for day to day stuff and gaming, it's just not great with DCS, it's not bad, but it's not great. I play at 1080p, no plans to ever go to VR and not planning on moving up to 1440p or 4k any time soon
  22. yeah thats what i was looking at, no idea why the previous generation of CPUs are so expensive, but still cheaper than having to get a new cpu, motherboard and RAM. I've essentially discovered that i would have to get the CPU form amazon in the US since all the places in australia i normally buy from dont stock anything but the 4460 and a xenon e3 and then just worse CPUs. I'll probably start with just the GPU, see how it performs and hopefully the 4460 will be able to last until 2.5 comes out (i dont have NTTR so i dont really need the power at the moment) since i'm guessing that's going to put a whole lot more pressure on the hardware with all the new lighting and graphical upgrades
  23. Well being in Australia, prices are not consistent. But essentially I was looking at the gtx 1060s as the GPU upgrade and since I'd only be upgrading one thing at the moment the budget would be the same for the CPU (500aud)
