Did lowering the textures help the stuttering on those servers? I never play in server with to many people or ping higher than around 120. Also, since I updated by video card to a 1060 with 6 g of VRAM I do not get stuttering. I wish I would have been able to help. Good luck.
I haven't tried lowering the textures yet...I thought they were updating today, I guess not.
Here are my specs again:
System specs:
Nvidia GTX 970
total avail graphics memory: 12023 MB
Dedicated video memory: 4096 MB GDDR 5
Intel Core i7-2600 @3.4GHZ
16GB RAM
I don't really know much about VRAM, etc. Does your 6 gigs correspond to my "total available graphics memory" or my "dedicated video memory"? So you think updating to a 1060 from a 970 might solve the problem?
Thanks,
Scarecrow

Are those server full? Ping issue? Only happens in NTTR or 1.5 as well? what was your average ping to the problem servers?
They tend to only have a few slots full out of 30 or so. Not sure about the ping...usually under 200 I think. The STP server was bad, as well as the Virtual Aerobatics server, which is usually the best and the one I fly in most.
The best performance has been in an air to air combat server with lots of traffic, actually. I can't think of its name, its a squadron name, but it is almost always the most busy.
Reflected, maybe I will try lowering texture resolution, as much as a bummer as that is.

Let's try something:
One the most common stuttering problems are Ram and Vram. How much you have of each?
Also; aero interfase, water, trees and grass/clutter. So disable the first a lower the other three.
Get your setting like my past post here
Don't mess with the Nvidia panel, all those default.
Test it, what happen? did it improve, the same, worst?
I turned off aero interface (no idea what that is) and turned down the water, trees and grass/clutter.
I couldn't discern any improvement. I get good indicated frame rates, but get stutters and mini freezes.

Nvidia GTX 970

Dedicated video memory: 4096 MB GDDR 5

I doubled RAM and got the card just for DCS...
Like I said, never had performance problems with NTTR, aside from a few specific multiplayer servers.
Thanks

Would someone please explain how to re-name the Saved Games folder, what files to copy over, when to re-start DCS/ the computer, etc...?
I checked that DCS is running on all my processors, still getting the performance problems...
Edit: I renamed the folder and it didn't help.
I have:
-deferred shading off
-MSAA off in game
-anisotropic filtering off in game
-above values set to minimum in Nvidia
-density sliders to less than half
-textures high (from my cold dead hands kind of thing :))
Still getting the stuttering, especially in Caen type areas.
I always got great performance in Nevada with maxed settings. Which wont open in multiplayer now - seems to cause a crash...
Would be a real bummer if these object counts are just too much for modern systems. Although I sort of suspect this got worse with last update, as Gizzy said in another thread.

Any development updates/ETA for the throttle?

Is the NTTR water texture any more visible in 2.1?
As it is, I can't judge the water surface distance till I'm in the drink.
It's completely flat. Hoping this was related to the low-res texture issue that is going to be fixed.
-
Any updates on the throttle development? ETA?

If you guys are interested in seeing this online, please chime in on my thread under Multiplayer where I request the Aerobatics Online server to include the Bell47.
I know they don't usually include mods, but maybe they can make an exception.

Hi Smil...
I'm pretty sure those f10 options are only available to the mission creator. Could be wrong though.
By the way, I would most like to see the Bell47 in NTTR (then Normandy, hopefully). Caucasus would be cool too though.
This thing's cockpit visibility is awesome with TrackIr, and it would be great for formation.
-
That sounds good...I'm on Mountain time in the US.
Maybe we can get a group together sometime.
I posted a request for the Aerobatics Online server to add the mod, but no one answered yet.
-
Anyone else itching to do some formation flying in this thing?
It would be a great way to explore Normandy.
BTW, no big deal, but my trimmer button doesn't seem to work.
-
Thanks for putting your site and these interviews out there, Sergio.
Very interesting, and you ask all the right questions.
I also thought it was interesting the Xplane guy has plans for making that into a multiplayer environment.
If there's one thing DCS needs, it's competition

Simulation of engine overheating is as important as the flight model?
It's a flight simulator, not an engine simulator...
I don't see it, but to each his own, my friend.

Support Developers. This is a niche market, only a handful of companies are making this. Be polite and respectful, Help them catching bugs and flaws in a educated manner. Enjoy what we have and give them time to polish, fix complete the products.
It has been an entire year since we all payed full price for this module.
Ridiculous.

Please consider adding slots for the Bell47 Mod posted recently in the Mods forum.
This is the closest thing we have to a light helicopter that flies like a helicopter.
Thanks

Would anyone direct me to up to date information regarding how to set up a server for 2.0?
I know very little about networking, opening ports, etc.
I used to be able to host servers on an old DCS build (pre1.5), but now my servers seem to not show up.
Thanks
Edit: nevermind, I am renting a router and that appears to be a problem.

Hawkeye had a good idea with that FM poll...too bad it devolved into another dead end "discussion". I would like to be able to revert to the original one too.
The Polychop guy stated recently that the FM is realistic.
There you have it. It isn't going to be improved.
We need to move on and look forward to the Bo105 from Oliver's new company.
Who knows how long that will take, so why not enjoy the Bell47 that was just released?
It would be awesome to get some multiplayer servers up with it included.
-
This strikes me as the best possible news...
Oliver had dropped hints about things not working out. The 3d work on the Gaz is amazing, after all...
BO 105 is back on my radar...hope it comes soon.
-
Got it to work, its really cool!
Thanks to everyone involved.
Good night for a Hot Blade server, eh Razorback?
Hopefully the VA server will add this mod...

"the SA342M Gazelle in the game flys very close to what the real thing is like"
Yes, ignore all points raised and offer more proof by assertion enabled by clapping seal sycophants.

;3123006']Did you copy the bin folder from the Huey to your Bell 47?
Nope...I will try that when I get home.
Anything else? Weren't there adjustments needed to the Huey FM?
No documentation showed up in my Doc folder.
Thanks
-
Thanks...is the Doc folder supposed to be empty? I don't have any instructions in there. Does this whole folder just get put in Aircraft?
Thanks
edit: I installed the folder under mods/aircraft/. I can only get it to work as an AI aircraft - even when it is set as "client". It loads as AI in "fast mission" as well. I have the Huey installed.
I don't know if I missed something, looks like it...

Thanks for the link, but I can't get the .rar to open...trying to use 7-zip.

Performance is in the hole and I am sad now.

I tried lowering textures, and it didn't seem to help at all. I kept MSAA off, deferred shading off, low density sliders, etc.
I'm still getting the stutters. Pretty much ruins the experience.
