DCS was the first flight sim game for me that was fun, because it was not just about flying but about a full 3d cockpit with clickable stuff.
-
I think there is a pretty large segment of the customerbase that are not flight sim fans. What? You might say. I don't even like flight sims. However I still own almost every module except for the Hawk, CC101 because they are substandard products. And I am still very sorry about the halfbaked Mirage I bought. I even bought the Albatros, and all ww2 planes. Why? Not because I like flightsims. Because I like playing with a complex machine. And that is why DCS provides. A highly interactive game where you get to handle a complex aircraft. And if one breaks down each dcs module to the level of cockpit complexity or clickable switches, then the Mi8, Mig21, and the Viggen are very fun to play. Because of the complexity it provides. The ww2 planes however are all the same unless you want to geek out on aerodynamics. And for the non-flight-sim customer, a viggen next to a spitfire will make the spitfire look very boring, simply for the lack of stuff to click.
-
Well, If the customer can shoose between a rickety flimsy ww2 prop plane and a modern jets with 2 different shiny systems in the cockpit, for the same price, then the Spitfire is going to lose out. And ED gets 100% of the spitfire cut, while they only get 60% from the viggen (guess). So yes I am 100% sure the Viggen will not be out before the year ends.
-
That sounds good. Also: I think this might mean they will release this before the year ends. However I don't think ED would want it to get in the way of the spitfire sales.
-
Here is the thing. LN did not show that thing off in the trailer. So it won't be working when the module is first out.
-
Why did you delete my whole post? Half of it was about the Harrier. My point still stands, that cockpit is a low-poly mess not worthy of the DCS standard or its price tag.
-
If they sell something for 60$ they got to deliver something far better
-
That is not good enough. Substandard compared to fully priced ED products. Look at the canopy parts. I can count the polies on the cylinder. this has to be WAY rounder. Look at the F86 for example how it is done correctly.f

So, it says 28:11:00 Which is 5 weeks away. I still do not believe that they will release it just like that. There would be first sneak peeks and interviews on flight sim sites weeks and months ahead to boost PR. Them silently releasing it like that on that day, only visible to a few people reading a forum would be bad marketing. My guess, either nothing, or they will just "reveal" the viggen with a distant pre-order date in 2017
-
I dont see a release date
-
Where is proof for that?
-
Cobra also said there would be 3 modules in 2016.
-
I don't think that is the case. Did cobra say something about a real release date?
-
They won't release that thing soon. -Spacehamster rule: at least 8 months between first official showing and release. - They won't interfere with the imminent Spitfire release. Either because they do not want to or because they can't because of contracts. -The plane is shown without texture work. Means it is still far away from release. -They would not go for elaborate teaser videos if they had something more complete to show. -LN own estimates on anything have always been at least a year off.

Nice video, but I don't get the 1967. The video and music is clearly mid-eighties.

I have added a track replay in this post. What I know is that the left side RSBN/ADF switch controls not just the compass but also the audio. For example when you enable all the switches on the right hand cockpit side after powering the engines, then you will hear white noise until you switch the left hand switch to the other mode. To respond to your post: I took of at one of the airfields near batumi, but not batumi itself. Can't remember the name. Around 240km away from sochi. Then I dialed in the correct ARK channel for Sochi and took off. After about halfway, I got a signal. But that signal suddenly was lost on the compass about 80 or so km out. But the morse tone was uninterrupted. I have used ARK and RSBN many times over 2 years and only recently I kept getting this problem of the compass suddenly losing signal. That is why it looks like a bug to me. Virtual Aerobatics public server v1.5.4u7-20161005-063638.zip

The morse code was the same all the time. And I switched it to NDB on the left side of the cockpit and selected the correct ARK channel for Sochi. It was not a Batumi signal because it appeared only when I was around 130km away from sochi, and I took off at one the airports close to batumi. And after take-off there was no signal. (And how would rsbn and ADF work at the same time in a mig21? There is a switch that has an ARK or RSBN.)

How about a "Cobra weekly screenshot?"
Spacehamster replied to Spacehamster's topic in Heatblur Simulations
It's all cobra's fault. If he would post a screenshot every day people would be too distracted to argue. It is a scientific fact that every cobra screenshot keeps angry posters off the streets for a day. So please, think of the potential rioters and post a screenshot each day. -

= Mig21 in its current state. -
The compass appears to be bugged. I flew from a southern airfield to Sochi. After some flying, it picked up the signal, it played the morse beep. However then suddenly the compass reset itself to a weird angle, but the morse code was still playing. It happened randomly, about 85km away, and the plane was at 9km altitude, so terrain obstruction could not have caused it.

What are the differences between the 3 ww2 planes?
Spacehamster replied to Spacehamster's topic in DCS 2.9
That is intersting. However I found the 109 much easier to taxi and take-off, because it has a clean lock for the brake and not the wobbly stick-pulling brake, which gets tricky on take-off. Also, why is the 109 so difficult to fly straight? I have to use a -11 aileron pre-mission trim to somewhat keep it from rolling at 50% throttle. Why is the 190 less affected by this? weaker engine or aerodynamics? -

So, the 190 is the most inferior plane then? The 109 climbs faster and is faster at all altitudes? -

What does not help yours is that you just cherry-picked a few games that had delays, while ignoring all the games that are on time, and great.
