I got my Pimax 5k+ a few days ago and it really is amazing, completely lives up to expectations. The cockpit readability is mostly OK however I do have a few issues mostly on MFCDs and DDIs etc, (even with this improvement) though also on the odd switch or dial label. As I understand it this is mostly an effect of the following three settings: rendering quality in PiTool (currently set to 1), application resolution in SteamVR (currently set to 80%), and the in game pixel density (currently set to 1.4). I am curious how exactly these settings work together and in particular how they can be adjusted to improve readability of cockpit text. i7-8700k 2080ti 16 GB ram Thanks!

It's weekend and I'd like to fly the Tomcat...
The Integrator replied to Eldur's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Honestly, they are put together just terribly. My trackir is a patch work of cable ties, blu-tac, and elastic bands just to hold it together. Recently ordered a Pimax and I tell myself it's for greater immersion, but deep down I know the real reason... -

Has anyone had any experience using the Vive hand controllers with Pimax? -
ATC love, does it also mean taxiing?

Is there any word on whether this will include updated AI behaviour or simply better radio communications with the player? -

Pimax 5K+ DCS review and 2080ti benchmarks
The Integrator replied to *Rage*'s topic in Virtual Reality
What are peoples' thoughts on the Pimax 5k+ vs. the 8k for DCS? I have heard some people say that they are switching from the 8k to the 5k+ since text on e.g. the HUD and cockpit instruments is clearer. -
Mirage disintegrated while pursuing maximum level speed at 45,000' altitude
The Integrator replied to Pzkfw's topic in RAZBAM
Alright, I think the main issue here is that I have assumed that CAS and TAS are the same, it seems I misread a few definitions. If that's the case then we are discussing a semantics issue and not anything really fundamental. If we take the definition as given by Fishbreath above then sure CAS is a better measurement to use. I think we are all fundamentally agreeing with each other but using different terminology for the same thing. P.S. of course the real limit is temperature, this isn't my first rodeo :p , but that's not really the issue I'm getting at. -
Mirage disintegrated while pursuing maximum level speed at 45,000' altitude
The Integrator replied to Pzkfw's topic in RAZBAM
Is it not the case that calibrated (or true) airspeed, TAS, is the IAS accounted for calibration errors, air density, temperature etc. and wind? In other words, in zero wind conditions, it is the same as GS. This means that even if I am in a region of very low air pressure my TAS will not change compared to a region of very high air pressure, my IAS will. Surely then IAS is the best measure of dynamic pressure (which is what the pitot tubes and hence IAS are really measuring) and hence of airframe stress? -

Forgive my ignorance but why are aircraft structural limits in terms of calibrated airspeed? Wouldn't indicated airspeed make more sense since that's a more direct measure of how much air is hitting the airframe in a given time, and so a better measure of the stress on the airframe? -
2021 (and earlier) DCS Newsletter Discussion Thread
The Integrator replied to NineLine's topic in DCS 2.9
I am a little confused by something in today's (28 Sept.) newsletter. It states "we conducted calculations for the wings and stabilators in XFLR5 software...with a non-viscous flow model." I have no experience whatsoever with the XFLR5 software, but a very brief search revealed that it is designed for working with low Reynolds numbers (although, as in all too many cases, it does not provide a rigorous definition of what it means by a "low" Reynolds number...). Does this not invalidate the non-viscous flow assumption? -
Hey, just noticed this about the Sidewinder! :)

The sun is just ridiculously OP right now ED really needs to fix this, just unplayable. -

I've noticed this with the formation lights on the A-10C (although it's actually kind of useful for providing cockpit illumination at night since the flood lights STILL don't work properly).

Full screen multi-monitor support
The Integrator replied to Dr Zaius's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
My two monitors are 1920x1080 on the right (my main display) and 1440x900 on the left (for the MFDs). The bottoms of the monitors are aligned (so there is empty space, so to speak, above the left, smaller monitor). HawgTouch (Monitor Profile).lua -
Full screen multi-monitor support
The Integrator replied to Dr Zaius's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Slight necropost I know but I am curious about this as well. I use two monitors with different resolutions, the MFDs on the smaller one, and would like to know if there's a way to use full screen. -
The A-10 gets the target elevation from the DTS elevation map. From the A-10 FAQ: You can also input it manually (as a HOT elevation mentioned above). I guess the F/A-18 is the same.

I updated the OP with my first attempts and eventual success (at least in the sense that I put the plane on the deck, but it was not pretty...)

Alright now that the absolutely fantastic Hornet is in our hands, let's see those carrier landings! Whatever the weather, whatever the outcome, let's all embarrass ourselves in front of each other  Here are my first attempts, I eventually got a "successful" landing (any one you can walk away from, right? :P ) Now for the excuses: my only training, so to speak, was watching Wags's carrier landing video at the time it came out. I'm a little better now, but only a little :P

Could it be that different parts of the world get it at different times? Not deliberately necessarily but just because they're using different servers there could be differences. -
