  1. If you want to get in that kind of vein, I would prefer something like personal nose-art that can be used with applicable planes. That would probably be easier to implement as well, as it could work in a manner akin to bord numbers, whereas a helmet would need to scale to a variety of pilot models.
  2. Apparently yes.
  3. It's not only the reflection but also the tint.
  4. Having a possible keybind to switch it on/off manually would be really good, especially since the logic governing when it appears automatically is wonky at best.
  5. Need is a very strong word.
  6. Big question: would you want to wait around for an hour or two to see it actually arrive then?
  7. Some of them do look a little garish, but I'm afraid just making them longer causes problems in some places, where there just isn't enough space. Not sure if the terrain engine is capable to finding where the next road node would be.

Yes, but it requires me to know all the set frequencies of the mission beforehand. A lot of other modules (including BST/ED modules) have an automatic export to the kneeboard, which would just be convenient and - as it is around for so many other modules - supposedly not too hard. That is not to take away from the initial suggestion of having an option to change these in some way still.
  9. I like the idea, but perhaps it's easier if the concept of 'trial days' just catches on a bit.
  10. Just want to point out that a lot of new sub-missions have been added to this, and they are great fun!

It would be a big step forward to include a kneeboard page simply listing the set frequencies for when you are flying missions other people have created.
  12. You could just not include the weapons in question in the mission you are building. Remove them from the airbase warehouses and you're done.
  13. ♫ We're the wingmen and you know we never miss, We just shot our flight lead down and now he's f.ing pissed ♪
  14. The way I see it, all this thread shows is the surprising fact that, yes real life politics do impact your hobby. Same for all of us.
  15. While it's sure nice to have I personally find the wide range of submarines in DCS a little puzzling at this point, considering they have very little impact on the battlefield as of now, and even once they do, that is mostly impact the player has very little interaction with.
  16. Perhaps having a 'manuals' subfolder with all installed modules' manuals in the DCS start menu folder would be great.
  17. No offence, but: I thought I had. You can set up a mission to include music playing as a radio transmission from somewhere. Thus you get music when you switch the radio to a certain frequency. For a video, of course, you could also just use a little bit of clever editing. I think that's how it happened in the ol' Huey trailer as well.
  18. Korrekter Wert für TAS (und damit Machzahl) erfordert natürlich auch korrekt eingestellten Höhenmesser?
  19. My difference in perception might be linked to how well certain groups seem to grasp the differences between simulations, reality and propaganda.
  20. Hm, this thread took a bit of a weird turn all of a sudden. Wholeheartedly agree with the sentiment of 'lighten up, Francis' here. If you mess with Ponyville's CAP it's not going to end well.
  21. Re: minimum speed of rocket employment I recently heard that the British Army found that out in the Falklands Conflict flying Gazelles with SNEB rocket pods. As they are only mounted on one side on a Gazelle, employing them from a hover apparently resulted in the helicopter spinning around its axis (and consequently not being overly accurate). Not an issue in forward flight and a slight dive, although that of course brought its own problems.
  22. You are right. I was certain I had read that, though. Perhaps it was just in the 'update-thread' and consequently lost down the pages since.
  23. You do realise, though, that that is a painting, right? Perhaps the Chinese model manufacturer's illustrator just didn't care so much for internal differences between a 2000C and a 2000-5.
  24. One of those stranger kind of battle damages.
  25. If I'm not mistaken this changes the 'center offset' of the HMD sight. If you bring that sight down to mark targets visually, it is by default not put in the center of your vision, but a bit above. The advantage is that you can mark a target looking out the window and at the same time look at the Shkval screen for example, for a quick ID. Pending your display settings, exact way of handling these things etc, a different displacement might be better. For example, if you zoom in a bit, the HMD reticle might be outside of your field of view quickly and you'd want a smaller displacement. If you find yourself having to go back and forth between designating and looking down at the panel, you might want a higher value.
