  1. Extract the zip anywhere BUT the existing SRS folder or the DCS folder and run the installer from there. Then delete the extracted files.

So I don't replace the files in the srs folder with the zip files? Sometimes when I hit install/ update SRS, my SRS stops working

  2. Also, this is driving me crazy, on the TAD when I’ve hooked the cursor to BULLS I can’t get an in screen set of information that tells me the MH and distance from BULLS to the curser when the cursor is not on another pre-established waypoint or my aircraft. Any of the above questions answered would be great or send me to a document or videos that would answer these I would be grateful.

Hook something, anything, on the TAD and select "BULL to CURS" on the left side of the TAD. If you want the MH and dist from anywhere else to your cursor, then you must select "HOOK to CURS"

  3. AIM-7H increases the ability to attack small targets at low altitude. The RCS scintillation of helicopter may affect AIM-7. HELO uses different trajectories to attack low-altitude targets.

LOFT exists only in AIM-7H. But even AIM-7F can be used in games.

Do you know if this is all implemented though?

I haven't seen evidence that these modes are implemented.

    Ok thanks

  4. Does the HELO mode work for the AIM-7s? Does it change anything in terms of missile trajectory?

Also to what extent does changing the target size between SML, MED, and LRG change the missile behavior?

    Or is all this unimplemented?

  5. I run into the same issue yesterday when i want to use the canopy toogle as rio. I think there are two bindings for rio and for pilot. You changed the selection in the pilot controll settings but not in Rio Settings.

When you switch to Rio, you switch control settings and its the original settings.

    Please check that. :)

    Fixed

"occupy pilot seat" must be bound from the rio controls and vice versa

  6. Not sure if this is even a bug but as RIO, when i request ground power or air supply, or i request rearm/refueling the ground crew will reply "Copy" but will do nothing. Had this issue yesterday, had to have my human pilot make the request to ground crew

  7. I usually switch to pulse when the target is starting to enter the notch or within 15-20nm. In ACM you should really always stick to pulse as it's quite easy to shake pd that close in, this is also the reason all the ACM radar modes transfer to pulse.

IRL wouldn't ground clutter be an issue at such short ranges?

  8. I've gotten 3 and 4 wires with ACLS, it's not perfect.

That said hook skip bolters aren't really being modeled yet, you can come in at some stupid angels/locations and still catch the wire. So if ACLS missed, it missed by a lot because right now landings are really forgiving. How far out were you when you engaged it? 4 to 2 miles seems to be ideal to align the needles and let ACLS get everything right, shorter than that and it tends to aggressively over compensate if you're not already dead on the glidepath (which if you were, why bother to engage ACLS).

I wasn't dead on the glidepath which I should have been, so it did have to correct me quite a bit. Probably why it ended up failing

  9. Pulse mode is very vulnerable from ground clutter, requiring to be very careful that target didn't dive below horizon even when ground was tends of miles further than target against it. In this case they had 6° between flight level and horizon and were required to keep pushing lower if target was moving below them.

so essentially, unless you use it to search for/lock a target that has just notched you, its best to stay in a pulse doppler mode over pulse

  10. Currently the difference is not modelled but like has been stated the main difference would be the lesser range when guiding in CW.

I've yet to see any information stating that the CW function was removed in the later missiles, my understanding was that it remained as a fallback, especially as the flood mode only works in CW.

I might be wrong though and if you have sources I'd be happy to take a look!

Ah ok, even with later missiles though, is CW illumination the standard form of guidance, with PD guidance only available if the SP PD switch is selected?

  11. Depends on what Sparrow you are using, the AIM-7F is the last Sparrow to be able to home on a CW signal (it could also home on a PD signal which is why there is a switch to toggle between PD and CW guidance I think). After this one, the AIM-7M, AIM-7MH and AIM-7P could no longer do so, you have to use PD-STT for them to home in.

PD enables the missile seeker to acquire targets at a longer range amongst other things. Radar homing was more reliable in general using PD.

EDIT : I think this is not modelled in game yet, I hope it will be.

So AIM-7M, MH, and Ps could not be used in P-STT?

  12. Is there any advantage to using PD illumination, which requires PD-STT, for your AIM-7s other than a longer range?

In my opinion I'd rather use CW illumination with P-STT because in DCS, missiles are fired from rather close range and I would rather not waste a shot by getting notched while using PD-STT

    Anyone agree or disagree?

  13. I've been told that in real life, you cant switch between radar modes once a missile has been launched. This isn't implemented in DCS right now but at least in real life, switching to P-STT would not be an option because the missile is tuned to a specific frequency before launch (or something like that).

With that said, when firing AIM-7s, I see no benefit in using PD-STT over P-STT other than a slight increase in range. To me, the risk of being notched and wasting a missile is too big when using PD-STT, so personally I would use P-STT for AIM-7s.

    (Also, what's MLC?)
