  1. The fact that my only quibble so far is the spelling says quite a lot about how much I've enjoyed it so far.
  2. I wouldn't worry too much about this as it comes across more as 'I can't do it' rather than 'It's not very good'. It is great that you are open to constructive criticism as that will hopefully improve this and any subsequent products from yourselves. I have only played the first mission and I absolutely loved it. The 15 minute wait at the start of a 90 minute mission was not a problem for me at all, I felt it pulled me into the world/scenario very well, more so than perhaps just jumping in and taking off. Obviously everyone is entitled to their opinion but that doesn't make your choices good/bad. Please continue to make the missions for yourselves as there is no way you're going to please everybody. My constructive criticism would be that there are too many spelling errors. Some of them are quite amusing but it does detract slightly from an immersion point of view. I'm sure plenty of people on here would be happy to proof read for you
  3. More Admiral Benson. "Didn't realise you were with us?" "I'm with you old boy, but I've left my stomach behind"
  4. People do realise that it is not compulsory to buy the module before release, right? So much entitlement in this thread, just relax and wait for March 20th.
  5. I don't really understand this whole advanced warning of release talk. We already have a date, granted its a latest possible date, and we are all able to pre-purchase at a discounted price. Why do we need another date? Its a very kind gesture from HB to offer advanced warning but its definitely not something we should expect. Not having a go at anyone, just adding to the discussion. My entry to the pant-wetting release announcement sweepstake is 2 weeks notice of release in today's newsletter for a Friday 15th Feb release. Don't let me down HB!!:joystick:
  6. Not enough eye rolling and head shaking in the world..... Sorry to hear that the trolls got stuck in. Take comfort in the fact that you got to actually fly Hornets off the deck of a carrier whilst they can only take comfort in flying their almighty keyboards. Really loved the videos I got to watch, little bit annoyed about the ones that were on my watch later list. All the best and thanks for the insight that you provided into a life most of us will never experience.
  7. I too am learning the Hawg. I fly some week nights and Sunday evenings, UK based.
  8. Looks like you've got the bug alright..... .....amiright lads........lads?
  9. Thanks. Would you also happen to know exactly when it'll be released?
  10. Does anyone know if I'll need the Open Beta for this?
  11. Had my first quick trip on this map in VR and it is amazing. It looks incredible and plays really well too. I was particularly impressed with the undulating runway.
  12. And yet these people still play in VR? They must have serious issues, they definitely can't be enjoying the experience. Any serious upgrades to an already impressive piece of kit can only be a good thing.
  13. Looking forward to this so much it hurts sometimes, drooling over every little bit of information that is sent our way. However, I am happy to wait until HB think it is ready for me. The wait gets harder and harder the nearer we get to its release but I have full confidence that HB will do the big cat justice and all the pain will be forgotten once they deem us to be worthy. Thank you HB for bringing the virtual cat to life, your work is truly appreciated. Now cough up the goods and get to work on the Tornado, there's a good little dev studio.
  14. It probably makes better business sense to give it away to be honest. I probably wouldn't be playing DCS if they hadn't offered the free teaser package. I have since gone on to spend an amount of money I am scared to total up on this wonderful sim world. I doubt I'm the only one as it is almost impossible to describe how good DCS is without getting someone to try it themselves. Keep up the good work ED and thanks for the free new map. I eagerly await every new release and would no doubt throw money at DCS Ironing Board if it were to be released.
  15. My current steed. Can't wait to get out again!
  16. Thank you for the replies, I'll make sure to check the links. I should make it clear that I am interested in flying all types of aircraft, I'm just more proficient in the older aircraft due to the lack of advanced avionics.
  17. I'm not sure if this is in the right place or not, mods please move if necessary. I have been playing DCS for a few months now and made my first sortie in the online environment last night, on the Burning Skies server in my Spit IX. It started well with 2 kills on my first flight but what followed can only be described as a total shambles. It became very clear to me that flying on your own is a big mistake, which brings me to the reason for my post. Where can I go for my training? Are there any other new players out there looking to buddy up or perhaps a squadron that would be able to provide some level of guidance in a combat environment? I am from the UK I fly (/my modules are): Spit IX - just need an element leader/wingman F-5 - I have an understanding of the systems, I just don't know how to employ them in combat UH-1 - I can fly it (sort of) just haven't tried combat yet F86 - I am most proficient in this module A-10c - Lots of learning/practice needed Viggen - Not up to speed yet I have a few other modules that I have not really flown yet such as 109,190,P51,Mig15+21, I also have the FC3 aircraft although I prefer the full fidelity modules. I have all three versions of DCS installed, including Nevada. Any help would be greatly appreciated, or if I could be pointed in the right direction at least. The community here is amazingly helpful and knowledgeable, I just hope I don't come across as being too needy. :joystick::helpsmilie: TL DR - Can you be my friend?
  18. Wait, what?! I have to download the Beta for this? :chair:
  19. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did, it certainly brought a lot of value to my Sabre and Mig modules
  20. Initially, after watching the trailer for this campaign I was quite sceptical regarding the premise for the story. I haven’t been DCSing for very long but it is the incredible realism that has sparked and retained my interest. Being new to the sim, I wanted to play a campaign with a less complex aircraft than say the A-10, so I decided to take the plunge, despite my reservations. At the time of purchase, I also added the Sabre (one of my all-time favourite jets) and Mig-15 to my stable, so I was a complete novice in both aircraft. I read the back story and the first briefing (after a brief sojourn through the training missions) with the thoughts that at least this campaign will give me some structured learning. I couldn’t have been more wrong if I tried. Sat in a cold and dark cockpit at the start of mission 1, the story was immediately my own, I was fully invested no matter where the story took me from here. The learning curve was perfect for me, a complete Sabre novice, teaching me the basics of my aircraft at first and introducing further aspects at a reasonable pace. That’s not to say I wasn’t challenged because one of the early missions left me slumped in my seat with very sweaty palms. This was a combination of my novice mistakes compounding a tricky but very well designed set of mission parameters. Just as I was thinking I was getting the hang of the aircraft, the campaign would throw up another curve-ball. I was repeatedly served up with difficult situations that I just about had the knowledge to get through (remember, I am a novice at this point), leaving me a little flustered to say the least, but also with a sense of great satisfaction and pride at triumphing in the face of adversity. Without realising it, I had gone from complete Sabre novice, needing written checklists for start-up, checking and re-checking systems to make sure everything was just so, often keeping friendly forces waiting as I lumbered through my start-up procedures, to a pilot knowing exactly how I wanted things, finishing my check-lists as I rolled down the taxi-way, canopy open with the whistle of jet engines on a busy pre-ops base. The briefings and documentation are top notch, as are the many voice-overs, which all add to the immersion. The missions themselves are varied and interesting, not to mention a lot of fun too. I genuinely felt part of the struggle, albeit a very small one. It’s difficult to write a proper review without spoilers, but I hope this goes some way to help people who may be still on the fence. So, what of my early reservations regarding the setting and story? Since completing the campaign, I have taken my Sabre out for many sentimental dusk flights and enjoyed many lazy turns, slow rolls and gentle climbs that only peace-time flying can bring. I didn’t play the campaign, I lived it.
  21. The translated version is called 'The Big Show'. Along with 'First Light' by Geoffrey Wellum, I'd consider both to be essential reading.
  22. Bumps-a-daisy, its enough to make you weep.
  23. From spring chicken to sh!te hawk in one easy lesson........
  24. I don't even like the Viggen but the hype is so massive that I'm counting down the minutes before the stream! Day one purchase!:punk:
