  1. Looking at the image, the heading may be in degrees, which would align better with the direction of your aircraft in the screenshot, and there may even be a magnetic variation in there too. maybe fly past the target and see how those numbers change. If the heading becomes a 3 digit number, then that might prove the above. if not, then I'm lost too. If it is, and your heading doesn't equal the target's when you are flying straight at it, then maybe the difference could be explained by magnetic variation? Odd, but at least it would be an explanation
  2. If you haven't spotted it already, you might want to check out https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=268812, as that discussion appears to cover similar, albeit not totally the same, ground.
  3. Which is why i told 3 to return to base, as i've had that also. :p
  4. Most, if not all, of the built in missions I've flown have had the flight comms frequency already dialled in, so you will just need to press the correct PTT button to speak to your wingman/wingmen. There is a full list of commands in the manual, but some you might use are:- "2, engage bandit(s)" "flight, engage infantry with guns" "flight, close formation" "flight, rejoin" "3, return to base" "flight, anchor here" "flight, jettison stores" "flight, go echelon right" "2, engage AAA with missiles" I won't try to cover them all, but it is worth pointing out that you will need to put a slight pause between the id of the person/persons you are aiming your command at and what you want them to do.
  5. if you're talking about the Deltasim Electronics upgrade, then you definitely won't regret it. It's far more effective and easy to use than the original slew control.
  6. maybe check out https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=268806 , if you haven't already.
  7. Combined Arms - the DCS module that lets you drive and orchestrate ground-based stuff and now, apparently, water-based stuff too.
  8. you could switch to the f2 view quickly and see which wire you caught or maybe look over your shoulder if you are using Track IR or VR. Alterntatively, you could use @Bankler's mission and that gives you a full rundown on your recovery, including which wire you caught
  9. Maybe for submarines or other items that wouldn't be picked up by radar or via datalink from other friendlies and therefore never shown to a pilot via their MFD?
  10. You're right. I've never needed to refuel for a mission and probably never will. I must just have some sort of a masochistic streak that makes me want to try. :)
  11. and you have the active sound device set as Headphones (Rift Audio) in the Windows tray? Edit: ahh, I've disabled those virtual sound devices and just use Headphones (Rift Audio) and Microphone (Rift Audio). I couldn't get the virtual ones to work, so just hid them
  12. I struggle the most with the A10c. I fly in VR and I think it's the location of the refueling port that almost makes me go cross-eyed, when i get in close. Nah, it's probably just crap throttle control if I'm being honest. :)
  13. An interesting reply, although I'm not certain what prompted it? Have you had a bad day?
  14. don't you need to press the ENT key, after selecting a frequency, to make it active?
  15. But be careful about checking the "Hide On-Screen Text" option, as that prevents you from seeing things like the aircraft selection menus that appear in a fair few missions.
  16. It would appear that practising the right things will make perfect. I got a 63/75, my best ever, and it was so much easier to follow the ball down to the 3-wire from the right height at the wake. Many thanks @Lex Talionis. Your video was spot on and after only about an hour of practising the on-speed base leg turn, I think I'm finally getting there. If I keep on practising, a 75 might even be doable. :)
  17. Maybe do a repair, with DCS_updater.exe
  18. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=268299
  19. Maybe make sure that, in the Windows sound devices dialogue, your Rift is set as both the default sound device and the default communications device.
  20. Thanks guys. Practice, practice, practice and then when i've done that....yet more practice. :)
  21. I've just spent an hour or so on Bankler's awesome Case 1 training mission and although I am consistently only scoring in the 40s, at least I can get down safely. Well, sort of. :) It's the final 180 degree turn that appears to be stumping me, with the rates of descent, particularly after the 90, not being what they should. I need better throttle control methinks.
  22. Wags has done a great series of videos on Youtube, that should provide at least a starting point for your mastery of the Hornet. The first video in the series is at and that should provide links to the others. Otherwise, go to Matt Wagner's youtube playlists and you will find the collection from there. Good luck and stay safe
  23. I've been giving the FW-190 A8 Anton a try, via the 2-day free trial, and it would appear that the PTT window, in the Config tab, wrongly identifies it as the Dora variant. Whether this makes any difference to how it works, i can't say, but it definitely says "Dora" and not "Anton".
  24. hmmm, it would appear that I can now run VA/VAICOM PRO alongside the Anton, without any "bomb dropping" issue. I had closed DCS World, deleted the export.lua file, from Users/.../Saved Games/DCS/Scripts/ and restarted DCS, as installing the Anton might have been viewed as an update to DCS, but whether it was this or just a restart of DCS that solved the problem i can't say. Also, it does look like the Vaicom Pro config window thinks this aircraft is the Dora variant of the FW-190, but I'll report that in the VP thread.
  25. Never mind. It would appear that Voice Attack and/or VAICOM Pro were in some way messing with the bomb release, as closing down Voice Attack and retrying the mission appears to have sorted the problem. Now, all I have to do is figure out how I can use VAICOM Pro and this module together and whether it is worth the effort.
