If I knew someone who did CNC, Id have paid triple for it and Id send some business his way. I considered finding a shop out here that might be able to do it, but Ive no idea where to look. Its times like now I wish I still worked at Boeing..then I read the news and Im glad I dont again. Ive checked around Lowes and Home Depot for a sheet metal brake that I could rent for a few hours and the only ones I could find are for aluminum siding. I can probably get away with it, but sheet metal aluminum siding isnt really up to snuff and not sure if it could handle .062 7075 T6. I happen to have some titanium lying around in storage too...hate working that stuff.

I dont have any extensions for virpil or thrustmaster. the bases I had at the time didnt really have the strength to really use them and I didnt want to wear my stuff out so never bought into that. Ill give Moza a shot, but I want to see some reviews first because Ive heard nasty things about them from people on the sim racing side of the community.

yeah, countersinking it. gotta have a countersink for it. all my sheet metal stuff is in storage and I cant justify rearranging my entire storage shed just for one of mine...and at that point it would be easier to have someone else make it. I dont know if I have any cutters for them either...believe me, thought of that. Also, I have to have a joggle that goes over the seat mount on the frame and extend it aft a few inches. Its easier to shave plastic down. Id love nothing more to build this myself, I just dont have access to a brake.

So...just learned of the MH16 grip thats being released soon after the base. What a coinkidink. Wonder if there will be an extension to go with it....

I guess Im going to be that guy today, but hows the project coming along?

Is this thing still low res?? Still not able to load a Sniper pylon onboard either and after all that hype...its literally not much better than the KC135 and can still count the polygons on the main landing gear and wheels. Its like the difference between the Burger King Whopper on the menu and the one you get in the wrapper.

The warthog IS one of my favorite grips, but it should be retired. Ive had it so long, replaced many buttons, its missing some hardware, the paint is mostly flaked off from the trigger now because Ive so many hours using it...its mostly a sentimental thing now, so if I do wind up using another grip Ill wind up buying a new one. I just dont know how many more things are ready to go belly up on it now. Probably buy a cheap one off ebay for it. VKB joysticks like the MCE ultimate arent really sold on ebay much so itll probably fetch a penny or 3. But then again....Ill probably just keep this grip and base because I REALLY like this stick. Ill just try it with the VPF base and see if I can get it to work. Sometimes its worth the hassle.

I dont want to sell it, its such a great stick and base...itll be hard to find a replacement just as good as this one. Ive had the Virpil T-50CM3 stick, the Thrustmaster Hornet grip, obviously the warthog...this one is my favorite stick. So many options, so many buttons...

It looks backwards. The collective is to be installed on the left side and I need to bring it aft 5". The 90 reinforcement isnt necessary since its the mating surface, but the rest of it looks good. This is how I have it currently mounted. I also need to know that it wont shatter if I drill the part. I know, getting a bit involved...
-
It is one of your seats, so I dont expect it to be that difficult. I also recall you shipping through a buddy in Kazakhstan when I ordered this from you a year ago, that no longer feasible?
-
I could do it easily if I had a metal brake, thats the one piece of tooling I dont have or have access to. I would also have to use O material and have it heat treated else it wouldnt last very long. If anything I can always reinforce the plastic with something behind it, but definitely would have to be some sort of unbreakable plastic for it to work. . What would be the best material for it to work aside from CF? I could try kevlar, I dont have a vacuum form though...
-
sure you were. The size of the part might need to be adjusted an inch or two longer if its feasible. If the material is sturdy enough, Id be happy to buy a few of them from you. Let me know.

well, so much for just selling the thing afterwards...wonder what else Id have to get too. Aint technology wunnerful? I can convert it back, I still do have the old hardware stuff...but I really wont want to use that stick anymore. Invested almost 600 bucks into this stick alone, I just added an additional 30 bucks to keep that stick as well so I could use it on this base if I wanted to. Had that stick since it released back in 2010, so I kept it for sentimental sakes. Its just...retired.

for both the VPForce and Moza??
-
ok, yeah...yeah! I get it now. Basically I just made a mountain out of a mole hill. This would be one of them times where writing stuff down on the canopy would be beneficial and a map handy.
-
Yeah this is why Im asking, who wants to go back to thrustmaster when you have VKB? I do have a thrustmaster warthog stick, but its adapted over to the VKB base now (and Ive never even used it since)...so Im looking specifically for a base that will fit a VKB. I guess Ill have to wait for VPForce to build mine, heard it was def worth the wait.
-
and VPForce is the only one that makes an adapter?
-
I was asking about the Moza FFB. I did ask VPForce about that too, so thanks for that answer...
