I could care less about my Operating System.

Ok, so move on. MOVE ON. Its not YOUR opinion, so respect it. Again, mind your own business. You dont like it? Ok. MOVING ON.

If it bothers you so much don’t use Windows and don’t play DCS

Again, If you’re so worried, then don’t use Windows. Solved.

We get it: you love Windows. Fk other peoples rights, right? You really have to mock those who would rather not be surveilled rather than accept the fact that we should have it both ways? You can laugh all you want; your best off doing it silently because all you're doing is making yourself look ignorant. Seems like you're really good at that. Tsetse fly, buzz.

Don’t you think that’s a little farfetched? 🙄 Just stay off your computer or the internet if you’re so worried about this stuff. But such paranoia isn’t something for ED to worry about. If 98% of their customers are using Windows then that’s what the game is going to run on. If you don’t like that don’t play the game.

I dont think you understand: its the principle, not the act of. If you had ANY idea of how intrusive Windows 11 is, I think (actually hope) that you would be shocked. IF you dont fight for your rights, you wont have any. Let that stir in your head and dont bother replying to it. Just stop with the argument because you arent going to convince anyone.

Most users have nothing to hide about their online activity. I can only speculate why this is so worrying to some people 🤔 Personal accounts are still secure regardless or at least as much as you can expect about anything online.

You ever watch or read Jack Reacher? A lot of us dont like being tracked and certainly not spied on. The government should not have a vested interest in my hobbies and it signifies a problem that the rest of the world is starting to ignore: stay out of peoples business. Politics is getting violent nowadays.

  5. helicopter pilots especially; when air starting, or by some reason the aircraft is in the air, it would be nice to have the ability to raise or drop the collective to the proper pull pitch before taking control of the aircraft. DCS already reads the position of the controls, and DCS knows the position the throttles already need to be in while the aircraft is airborne, it would be awesome if there were a graph or slider that pops up telling you to advance or retard your throttles to a certain position as well as stick trim and such.

    OK,

SO the F10 not showing at take off MAY be because the frequency isn't set correctly and therefore the trigger doesn't fire. Try setting the frreq away from 131.6, then back to it. This should fire the trigger. Have you been using PRESETS? Throughout the build process i had issues with PRESETs not being detected by the ME triggers.

No, I insert the frequencies all the time by hand. I didnt know to select F10, I just waited for a minute, scanned the messages to see if I missed it and just took off. I never got a hint stating I needed to use F10 to get clearance to take off. Normally I would get a message stating I was clear to start, didnt get anything in M12.

    but why redo all?

I would just  redo the aircraft I'm currently flying/studying ... why redo those aircraft I'm not flying anymore?

I doubt anyone uses more than 2-3 aircraft at a time.

yeah there are some aircraft I dont fly anymore, but I do fly a bunch of them frequently. Just this past 3 weeks Ive flown 30 hours in the AH64, 4 hours in the Mi24, an hour in the OH6, tried the Ka50 for about an hour as well....bunch more since I just got a VPforce base and I want to know what its like. Its a whole different world with it.

Don't really understand what you mean by this. I just keep the same structure in the input folder as always. And use PowerRenamer to replace the old GUID in the filename with the new one.

There are 2 sets of key binds if you had previously bound keys: the modded one, and the default where there are 5 axes and 30 keys assigned to views for some reason on a keyboard...that need to be deleted before you start assigning keys. Never heard of power renamer though..I just click the device I want to load in with a previous profile and I have to search for it in the saved games folder, and then I have to find the correct one. There have been a bunch of times when I would find like 5, 6 profiles for the same peripheral...where they come from I dont know, but they're there. Probably from unplugging, cleaning my devices history from windows, then reloading DCS. No idea...the struggle is real.

  9. Every time Ive tried to use an old backup of a logbook, it never works. The keybinds are one thing, yes I keep them on an external disk. But how nice would it be to have the load up when reinstalling DCS on a fresh copy of windows and just logging on in DCS? Thats what I really want. The pain in the ass is from ALL of the modules you own. ALL. OF. THEM. Imagine having 15 sets of peripherals, all bound the way you like it to every single module you own. Like myself, theres my joystick, base, MIPS, TEDAC, collective, keyboard, 3 throttles....and try to map them all to EVERY SINGLE MODULE IN THE STORE. Never mind you have to find the correct one since theres also the default loading on every single peripheral, now you have to sort them out too. You have no idea how tedious that is......you know how many modules there are in the store? How many aircraft?

Hi there! Since windows 10 eol is coming, and windows 11 is completely riddled with intrusive AI (features (esp. Recall)), forced updates that brick many people's systems, and coercive policies as well as DRM, there is no way people are going to use windows at any time soon in the forseeable future (after 2025). for this reason, ED should wake up and realize the fact that windows is already proving its inferiority while linux is doing the exact opposite. no need to find evidence to prove it - microsoft is already shooting itself in the foot.

That's why we believe that ED needs to either make DCS compatible with DXVK, Vulkan, VKD3D or OpenGL, so that they can be run natively on linux, or they can just publish their app as a flatpak (flathub) anyway without having to spend loads of time porting their apps to linux .

    The YoTLD begins NOW.

(btw, we already have a computer running mint, so that's the whole point of the this argument)

Im going to continue using Windows 10. 11 can piss off; I have it, Ive used it for about a year before I got sick of it, now its installed as a secondary boot on my current rig. But after the AI announcement Im not touching it. If I have to use it, it will be offline only. If DCS can run on Linux after Vulcan is released, Im switching over to it immediately.

  11. You know, there are a couple of things Id like to see being stored in our ED user profiles. Key bindings, pilot logbook...You know how frustrating it is to keep losing them when you reinstall?  These files arent that big, so not sure why we cant have these uploaded to an online source associated with the aircraft. Literally have lost thousands of hours in the logbook from just reinstalling Windows once a year...Im not even sure how many hours I have in each module anymore.

  12. Im getting the same issue here. Track is too big to post, but this is the only mission Ive had issues since I reported them first off months ago. Also noticed that several other units were not taking off or spawning at mission start like Ugly 2.

Edit: I see what the problem is. Theres no message at the beginning to contact BATMAN for takeoff, so that script never gets triggered. I managed to find this out at the end ; I was wondering why I couldnt select the F10 menu to land back at Batman, but when I landed I tuned it manually to Batman 131.6 and the F-10 menu appeared. Clicked it and it cleared me to takeoff which surprised me. Then I clicked it again and it completed the mission for me as all those scripts finally caught up.

The technique on the HSI/RMI/BDHI The TACAN station is always at the centre of the instrument.

Step 1 decide what Range and bearing you want to go to.

Step 2 note your current range and bearing on the HSI .... you are at the tail of the needle.

Step 2 In your mind take the greater of the ranges (current range versus new range)

Step 3 visualize the HSI as a map whose diameter is the greater range

Step 4 Locate your current position on the (scaled map HSI) use your finger 🙂

Step 5 draw a line from your current position on the HSI to the point you want to go through.

Step 6 transfer the line you drew in Step 5 to be centered on the HSI The line now extends to show the Track you need to fly to get to your new destination.

Step 7 Turn on to the required Track/Heading .... update the process as you go along.

Once proficient this process can be done in seconds with good accuracy.

    An example:

    Tac-ptpt.jpg

Is this saying "if I want 30nm east of tacan x, translate that to 30 degrees offset to your current heading north to the tacan @ 60nm away"?
