Lost all keybindings just in F-16
Hammer1-1 replied to void68's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
yeah there are some aircraft I dont fly anymore, but I do fly a bunch of them frequently. Just this past 3 weeks Ive flown 30 hours in the AH64, 4 hours in the Mi24, an hour in the OH6, tried the Ka50 for about an hour as well....bunch more since I just got a VPforce base and I want to know what its like. Its a whole different world with it. -
Lost all keybindings just in F-16
Hammer1-1 replied to void68's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
There are 2 sets of key binds if you had previously bound keys: the modded one, and the default where there are 5 axes and 30 keys assigned to views for some reason on a keyboard...that need to be deleted before you start assigning keys. Never heard of power renamer though..I just click the device I want to load in with a previous profile and I have to search for it in the saved games folder, and then I have to find the correct one. There have been a bunch of times when I would find like 5, 6 profiles for the same peripheral...where they come from I dont know, but they're there. Probably from unplugging, cleaning my devices history from windows, then reloading DCS. No idea...the struggle is real. -

Lost all keybindings just in F-16
Hammer1-1 replied to void68's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
Every time Ive tried to use an old backup of a logbook, it never works. The keybinds are one thing, yes I keep them on an external disk. But how nice would it be to have the load up when reinstalling DCS on a fresh copy of windows and just logging on in DCS? Thats what I really want. The pain in the ass is from ALL of the modules you own. ALL. OF. THEM. Imagine having 15 sets of peripherals, all bound the way you like it to every single module you own. Like myself, theres my joystick, base, MIPS, TEDAC, collective, keyboard, 3 throttles....and try to map them all to EVERY SINGLE MODULE IN THE STORE. Never mind you have to find the correct one since theres also the default loading on every single peripheral, now you have to sort them out too. You have no idea how tedious that is......you know how many modules there are in the store? How many aircraft? -
Im going to continue using Windows 10. 11 can piss off; I have it, Ive used it for about a year before I got sick of it, now its installed as a secondary boot on my current rig. But after the AI announcement Im not touching it. If I have to use it, it will be offline only. If DCS can run on Linux after Vulcan is released, Im switching over to it immediately.

Lost all keybindings just in F-16

You know, there are a couple of things Id like to see being stored in our ED user profiles. Key bindings, pilot logbook...You know how frustrating it is to keep losing them when you reinstall? These files arent that big, so not sure why we cant have these uploaded to an online source associated with the aircraft. Literally have lost thousands of hours in the logbook from just reinstalling Windows once a year...Im not even sure how many hours I have in each module anymore. -
Mission 12 targets invincible
Hammer1-1 replied to Augermc's topic in DCS: AH-64D The Four Horsemen Campaign
Im getting the same issue here. Track is too big to post, but this is the only mission Ive had issues since I reported them first off months ago. Also noticed that several other units were not taking off or spawning at mission start like Ugly 2. Edit: I see what the problem is. Theres no message at the beginning to contact BATMAN for takeoff, so that script never gets triggered. I managed to find this out at the end ; I was wondering why I couldnt select the F10 menu to land back at Batman, but when I landed I tuned it manually to Batman 131.6 and the F-10 menu appeared. Clicked it and it cleared me to takeoff which surprised me. Then I clicked it again and it completed the mission for me as all those scripts finally caught up. -
Best place and aircraft to learn IFR?
Hammer1-1 replied to Hammer1-1's topic in Military and Aviation
judging from the aircraft they use on the HSI, its an old training video for B-58 crews. I seem to recall these images from some old B-58 training videos Ive watched on youtube once upon a time. -
I just recently decided to refund the F-15E. Havent heard anything - good OR bad - in the last 5-6 months that suggest otherwise, and frankly dont really see it going anywhere from here on out. Hope they do better at microprose, but wont be including me in that science project. Never again.

Sorry about the comment, but I have to know...how did you get the motion blur looking this good in this shot?

Best place and aircraft to learn IFR?
Hammer1-1 replied to Hammer1-1's topic in Military and Aviation
I dont know, I rarely even look at that aircraft too. I might look into that, but Im more interested in the tutorials concerning IFR using just the HSI and VOR/TAC. Im not too familiar with the red sides radio functions; hell Im still learning that in the Mi24. -
aint nothing big, its just text to a small screen that barely has use. Its just a LOT of work for just one thing that Im rarely going to use, thats all.

Im gonna give up on this...too much work for so little payoff. Thanks anyways.

I get stuck at this one point: In the extract zip folder go to dcs-bios-master\dcs-bios-master\scripts I dont see a dcs-bios-master anywhere in this folder.

I got a Tek Creations AH-64D KU pad and Im trying to get the display exported to this device. Ive no idea where to even start; how would I go about doing this job? TIA

Best place and aircraft to learn IFR?

Is this saying "if I want 30nm east of tacan x, translate that to 30 degrees offset to your current heading north to the tacan @ 60nm away"? -

Ive been paying attention to it, definitely going to be getting it...but playing it? Not for a while. -
Best place and aircraft to learn IFR?
Hammer1-1 replied to Hammer1-1's topic in Military and Aviation
This is the problem I face in the F4E takeoff and navigation tutorial. I vaguely remember how the TACAN works and radials and it snapped into place with me last night after I finished my last post (overthinking again), but yeah that still comes back to the HOW they navigate to LAT/LONG coordinates rather than TACAN. Can you even input LAT/LONG in the pilot seat? I havent really dug into the F4 yet. -
Best place and aircraft to learn IFR?
Hammer1-1 replied to Hammer1-1's topic in Military and Aviation
The hard part is knowing what to look for. Ill put that in the youtube player for some review later! Im familiar with VOR/DME, m just not familiar with what the F-4E has AT ALL...its also one of the things that put me off the Tomcat of all aircraft. Pilots nowadays have it good, I recognize that...but navigating by HSI and VOR/TACAN with offsets is a survival skill and Im trying to learn the hard way! -
Best place and aircraft to learn IFR?
Hammer1-1 replied to Hammer1-1's topic in Military and Aviation
I havent flown X-plane in such a long time either, mostly because Im really not much into civil aviation and there are no training missions for it. About the only thing I use MSFS for is the gliders (yeah that shts fun for me as its more of a science than anything else). The reason why I ask this question is because I really want to learn the F-4E, but you're basically navigating by the HSI and using the TACAN for the most part. The one thing I cant wrap my head around is how to navigate to a certain point from your current location using only the TACAN as a reference. Lets say Im near wp2. I want to navigate to wp3, and wp3 is bearing 135, 15 miles from TACAN X. The only thing I know how to do is change my radio to TACAN X and follow the needle...but that will take me directly to the station. I can do it if I have the map right in front of me, but thats really not an option. I would think this is what a flight plan is for, but most flight plans I see use only LAT/LONG appendices, not course lines or things like TACAN X radial 135, 15 miles. Guess I can simplify that question to how can I navigate from my current position using only the HSI and TACAN to get to TACAN X with the appropriate radial and distance? -
Best place and aircraft to learn IFR?
Hammer1-1 replied to Hammer1-1's topic in Military and Aviation
its been a LOOOONG time since Ive flown the 101....I didnt know about the training missions, Ill have a look-see at it, thanks! As for IFR in another sim, I have MSFS and all those missions there. My biggest pet peeve for that sim is setting up my controls for ANY aircraft. They've made that whole thing an ordeal. -
looking to learn actual IFR in DCS, basically learning how to navigate properly using the HSI. what would be the best aircraft to train in as well as where could I find some decent training material to learn from? Id like to learn the essential navigation stuff before I get too old to learn this stuff and would love to be pointed in the right directions! Theres only one aircraft in DCS I dont own, so pitch an aircraft thats best suited for it if possible. Thanks!
