  1. There's so many squadrons posting recruitment messages. This isn't one of those. This is more of just a public service announcement, letting you know that we exist. there's a group of guys that have taken it upon ourselves not only to create the best non-toxic, dedicated but not overly serious, real life comes first, "squadron" in DCS. We are actively teaching new players on a regular basis. And we're not talking about that player versus crappy AI stuff you see. We mean really proficient. We fly every airframe including helicopters. We have our own server that is up and considered by many to be the best new server on DCs. Swing by and jump in chat. We will be glad to have you join us for some epic air, land, and sea battles. Server info at the bottom. if you're a PVE player and you just want to learn how to PVP and hold your own in BVR or the merge, you're more than welcome fly with us as well. Who knows maybe you'll find that PVP is what you've been desiring. https://discord.gg/4S8eu8q Angry Devils is our private server. Thr above link is only good for 10 invites so if you want to learn more feel free to hit me up directly. below is the Discord for the server. Any of you squadrons that think you are worth your weight in salt, show us what you got in this dynamic, ever changing environment. https://discord.gg/4S8eu8q Red Storm Rising - Syrian War.
  2. Awesome! Thank you. I noticed this two days ago. Huge difference. At least we have a change to run like hell lol. :-)
  3. Zeus said in one of the first posts about D2M and the Mirage C: "It has the capability, it just does not use it." It is really annoying that some servers block its use by leaving it default to off in the mission file. Just because the French didn't use it, doesn't mean it should be hard coded off. Online PvP servers are not "real" lol, especially the likes of Growling Sidewinder (air quake). So I think it should be defaulted to on, and left to the server to actively remove it if their community, mission, idea is to have it off. It's too much of a life saver for the under dog mirage that is competing with 120Cs, 54s, etc. Often I'm notching, and will get a warning of a second missile inbound. That can be super helpful when I'm busy not hitting trees, blowing dust off roof tops, trying not to eat a 120 or 3 120s fired by a 18 missile boat. Anyways, I think it's a poor decision, and make the mirage less fun to fly for those of us dedicated to the PvP aspect. I'm a dedicated mirage pilot, I will fly without d2m because I love it. I just don't like it lacking D2M and feel it drives other pilots away because it's such an underdog already. Side note - I said that in growling and someone flying a 16 replied "the mirage is great, you just don't know how to fly it." I replied with "if that's so true, how come I'm the only one flying it out of 47 people on this server." crickets.
  4. how relaxed or strict are you looking? Do you want just a good group of guys to fly with any learn any plane you want? If so, I recommend checking out Modern Cold War (soon to have a new name based on the player's voting). We are laid back to the correct level, yet are heavily active, on nightly, and yet organized to creating strike, and wingman tactics to be more effective. We all own many modules, and most are experts in 1 or 2, and we teach those modules to each other (ie. Mine is the mirage). I hope you can join us and see how you like it. Who knows, maybe if you join another squad you will enjoy the server style with that group as well. take care and see you in the air.
  5. If you want to learn, you need a good community. Growling Sidewinder is full of fan bois, and solo-ists. Why would they want to teach poker to the people they are trying to take the money of? If you want to learn, a server that is built on community interaction and working together for ACTUAL mission objectives that are generated by the players in the game talking, and generating the ground and air game is the way to go. Modern Cold War server is a great place, full of players that came from other multiplayer servers like you, but found working together, be it 15 minutes of flight time you get before real life obligations, or a weekend binge to blow up the opposing teams hopes and dreams, haha it's a blast. We all take the time to teach each other as well, whether you are new to the server or new to an air frame. They've spent hours helping me fly the F-14 and F-16, and I teach everyone I can the Mirage. If you get tired of flying fighters, or ground attack, like I do sometimes, I just relax by slinging an invasion convoy of tanks, and AA to send into enemy territory. There's something for everyone, and I can't stress the community part enough. feel free to join us on discord and check out for yourself. https://discord.gg/RNhCFg9 Respectfully, Airogue
  6. Modern Cold War - welcomes everyone I can appreciate your search for a more enjoyable Multiplayer environment. I can't say that I agree with the previous two posters as I have not enjoyed those servers much. I was looking for a community just as much as I wanted a dynamic experience. I tried the DDCS server, and that was a ton of fun, until they changed course to "steal players" from other servers. That maneuver ultimately made DDCS a waste, and not only did it forcefully remove players that voiced opinions contrary to the leaderships, but also made it unfun for less vocal players like myself. Many of the guys did however meet up, and through further discussions decided we can take what we knew was fun, and make the perfect server as a community of players. That server is up, and full as hell I might add. It is also evolving on a daily process because we have so many guys working to make this server fun for all kinds of players. In the first week we've been up it's already been the 3rd highest populated server in DCS multiple times. This is the Modern Cold War server. The premise is a fully dynamic experience where the players create the ground game, provide needed air support, and the ever present air space dominance required to be successful. MCW has it's own discord and I recommend joining to get to know the guys, and the many new players that join every day. It's not air quake, but the action is close enough to not find your self flying for hours to just get shot down. It's also real enough to find that the more you apply teamwork and tactics, the greater success you will achieve. Good luck on your search and I hope to see you in the skies of MCW. Feel free to reach out to any of the admins, developers, or heck anyone on MCW as we are all very active and love to teach the unique characteristics from slinging with helos, to anti-radiation deep strikes withe Su25s and F-18s. The discord: https://discord.gg/RNhCFg9 respectfully, Airogue
  7. For A2A I will need to provide examples. I will say that yesterday felt better than Thursday last week. Not sure if any small patch was pushed. One thing that has changed and I'm not sure if its key bindings or actual change, but CAS mode for guns does not bring up the radar alt piper. I get the 530 bore sight with the se button combos of before. I have messed with radar alt switch on the HUD and PCA switches. Anyone know if I'm just screwing up by using the old way to initiate the CAS piper?
  8. was anything updated yesterday with the 16 release? It seemed like my radar was flickering, targets on and off and on and off again. That didn't happen before the update.
  9. Not really sure how anyone can argue for a broken module. That's like arguing that you are better off with only one show because you only need to tie one instead of two. Sure my other foot hurts, but it's still early. I just havent found the matching one yet. That's how ridiculous the arguement sounds. They should disable features that allow you to fly arcade modes. Otherwise we no long are in a simulator and just in a version of ace combat. That's not a good business model when Microsoft is about to drop a flight sim to kick the crap out of others. All the acrobatic guys may go elsewhere at the least.
  10. I guess I didn't understand the way it was written. I was notified of my error. But again, could have been written better for someone exhausted at 3am to understand it lol ;-)
  11. Mirage 2000 update, they broke my bird... So I get making it more real, cool. But when you change something, explain how to get the functionality back. Anyways, the problem is there is no unlock for STT/TWS locks, then you can not select special modes. So I can't use horizontal, bore sight, vertical; which means I can't use my snake eyes either. If anyone has info to correct this, I'd be grateful.
  12. Anyone been able to dig into the files and see how it broke?
  13. Not pleased with these animations. It was a waste of coders time in my opinion. Buttons are ridiculously slow, and it "broke" the code? Hmmm,... Game play value... -1 And yes, all I fly is the Mirage because it's the best in the game. But I don't like to have to "mod" the code to make the plane function correctly (switch animations being too slow).
  14. Thank you for posting. You answered some questions I had about using the gardena system.
  15. Anyone made the Gardena extension that has photos? I want to make this and I'm not really sure I'm purchasing the needed parts correctly.
  16. I second that Bone, curious if just the folder concept worked or if you needed to tweak some Lua's
  17. I agree, and I even think the current list we have is a bit heavy. I'd like us to look at the list that is assembled (I've added it to the first post) that contains all of Backy's and the recordings I made, plus the ones requested on here. Some criteria I think we should consider in narrowing down the list is Realism and possible, followed by usability and pronunciation, and lastly theme (ie. the themed call signs like beer: Bud, Coors, Miller, Labatts. Like Texaco, Shell, Exxon for tankers) Our list should be 50 for aircraft. 5 for AWACs. 5 for Refuel. 5 for JTAC (they have a lot already but if we are going to re-record, it's not a lot of extra work to just add call signs).
  18. I'll do my best to be available. I will keep Discord open most of the time I'm on, so we can touch base. Like I mentioned, I have time, just not a good schedule of it due to my flexing work. Here's the call signs I recorded previously. It's not great, just for some testing and learning. Recorded open mic'd from my laptop sitting in a conex so could be better haha, but it gives it a fairly good "radio" reverb. https://drive.google.com/open?id=1lKs4rI3CJfhonNGD_Bkd4Bx5lOt2oNrn These are just call signs, no additional scripts re-recorded yet. There may be some that Backy's does have, but I know there are some duplicates. Like you said Bone, I'd like to get an actual list together of all the "first gen" call signs so we can have multiple voices read for them.
  19. Bone, that sounds great. That's exactly what I expect for phase 2. You guys are killing it. I really hope we find a way to include many different voices, or maybe a way to set certain "characters" for say, ATC at a field. When I fly, I often deal with the same ATC if it's the same shift. You kind of get to know their voice and personalities, and expectations.
  20. Venom may be a F15, but Demon is also an F-15, just different squadron. Or sometimes Havoc and Chaos are the same squadron, but different areas of responsability (North vs South AO). Etc or different missions types, one on CAP other on CAS.
  21. For true realism, remember, flights were given callsigns that differe from pilot call signs. For example - first flight of the day may be Venom 01, and it might be a two ship so Venom 01 and Venom 02. Second flight may be Venom 11, etc. Similarly, if it's the next day, and say we have 5 lines possible, and Venom 4 and Venom 5 are up, Venom 1 might be taking off again, and each time it's a different plane and pilot. It's the "line" or "flight" that gets the call sign. So Maverick could be flying Venom 41 ;-) Clear as mud?
  22. sorry, apparently that message sent today when I finally reconnected to the internet lol. Badger, I will be returning to the US early Nov. Until then, I'm periodically available for chat between 1700 EST to 2000 EST (work load dependent).
  23. I see this as 3 phases, with a 4th bonus. Phase 1 is getting the names into one country - USA was the target because it's simple. Blending not nessasary in this phase. Just the option to have the names if you want them and letting the community both know how and provide some recorded ones. Backy had done some pre-work, ahead of me even, so salute to him basically getting phase 1 complete. Now Phase 2, Phase two is to get one country call signs recorded in one voice so it blends, that includes ATC AWACs etc, with both original call signs, and new ones, plus the original wav scripts (tedious, yes, do-able, yes) Phase 3 will be to get all the original recordings redone, with all new call signs plus original callsigns, and all additional script that needs changing. (the ground crew can stay the same, like a throw back, as they never use the call sign when talking) ;-) Hopefully, by this point, ED is willing to include the changes to their official release, which would include the changes and not effect integrity check. Until then, just saying two Lua's would be possible, and switching between them.
  24. Backy, can you post a list of the names you've compiled? I will write them out to my original post to try to keep a running tally of the names proposed, limiting the duplicate requests. Thanks for the tip BoneDust, I'm overseas at the moment but my wife has a mic set up that I can play with when I get home in a little over a month. Additionally, if we want to add foreign voices (like french or German AWACs or British JTAC), I have some good friends that fly and would probably help. I was even going to have my wife add a female french AWACs voice for variation (she's a native speaker).
