  1. It'd be cool if there could be a single button/combo of buttons to toggle a video recording of the screen. Maybe there is...?
  2. Before I got Track IR, I couldn't get the other tracking system to work at all. I was using the mouse to look around. The only way to get used to it is actually use it...for me, it was just a matter of keeping my head still, and only making minimal movements. Especially if you turn your head fast, everything becomes impossible to see and it's easy to get disoriented. Look with your eyes (that doesn't change the view on the screen), and if necessary, turn your head smoothly and slowly (not like molasses slow, it should take 1-2 seconds to turn your head about 30^ (as if you're looking at the outer monitors of a 3 screen setup. That far should be enough to adjust the viewing angle so you can see behind you.)
  3. Yes, TiR is the way to go. Never used "Altrack", but did use the freeware "freetrack NoIR" and couldn't get it to work at all. It took me awhile to get used to how often my head bobs around and twitches...and of course that shows up with any head tracking method. Keep your head steady with slow movements, and practice using your eyes more than moving your head. Re: turning.....a normal turn involves a 30^ bank, a lot of new-to-flight-sims people tend to put the plane on its wingtip and pull hard....that's a skill for later (and it usually involves full throttle LOL). Enter the turn at 350 IAS, roll to 30 degrees and use the rudder and pull a little back on the stick. Keep your hand on the throttle so you can gently adjust the power as needed, and use the rudder to keep the nose aligned with the horizon. It is an acquired skill to do a "coordinated turn", and there are videos on YouTube from both civilian instructors and the USN from WW2 that give really good visual instructions. 4. One of the YT channels offers RAF style training in the DCS F-5, check out the Fast Jet Performance channel. Have fun!
  5. It ain't over until the fat lady sings....or until WE say it's over! Was it over when....the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?!
  6. I know of two servers that are very patient and skilled for new people (there are several more, but these I have experienced): Yappy's Training Server (Link to their Discord is in the description) Sidekick's YouTube channel (specializing in iron bombing, link to their Discord is in the description) d0ppler's formation flying practice mission
  7. Awesome! I do have the LEDs on, and I have noticed when using a rotary for zoom, at certain points of zoom there is a fluttery effect...that was always fixed by adjusting zoom a little bit, but if the LEDs are the things causing these issues that would be great! (I do like the lighting, but I will keep this in mind) Thanks!
  8. Lately I've been having a ghost input on my X56 throttle...seems to be associated with moving the throttles. What happens is one or both engines shut down (mostly flying VSN F-4 and SU-25), which can be....exciting as one pulls up from a bombing run! I replaced the powered USB hub, no change. I took off the back plate and examined for pinched/shorted wires, none found. Tried wiggling the wire bundles to find an open. Nada. When I used the Win10 gaming controller doohickey, I could duplicate the ghost issues. It was on the first two toggle switches (near max throttle position). Coincidentally those two are the ones I used to turn the engines off and on, so I moved the "off" function to the switches behind the original ones. Still ghosted the engines! So what I did was reset the "off" command back to the original switch, and added a control function (an unused button on my TM WH) to both switches. Took a couple of test flights and did not have any errant shutdowns, so now I can crash into the carrier during landings by my own hand, not because the *#_&+ engines died at the last moment! We'll see if this fix lasts. I'll update with any changes.
  9. I've been flying the F-4C for awhile now, in the A/A config. It's fun and all, but then I decided to try bombing runs...did you know it can carry 24 Mk 82? Heh heh heh.... Turn left switch to ripple, right switch to "all", master arm on...so awesome to watch 24 Pickles of Doom™ fall away and WHOOOMP WHOOOMP WHOOOMP in a good ground coverage! So much fun! Tomorrow I'll try to aim at something LOL!
  10. There was an article written by an A-4 pilot who mentioned how sensitive the stick was in creating movement. You definitely have to be gentle with the stick, moreso than other planes. I've also read that most people think of pilots "yanking and banking" the stick, when in fact one needs much more finesse.
  11. So....you're trying to put the kneeboard in the mirrors?
  12. Before, you had open beta. After the update, you have DCS. Now everyone has DCS.
  13. Speaking of which....here's a website devoted to real-world A-4 stories, including a very tall pilot getting out of the plane via ejection....use Ctrl+F and search for "Skyhawk Tight Fit!"
  14. You wouldn't be compiling the mod + updates for everyone to re-download....you'd be compiling them for new players who are interested, but perhaps don't have the patience nor inclination to search out all updates, and then wonder "Is this all there is, or am I missing a hypothetical "205" update. Make things easier for people, you might see more getting the mod!
  15. I've seen BSG Viper builds, X-wings, and a few others...this is AWESOME! (Note: In spite of the word "homemade", this is an actual F-111C fuselage section being repaired/refurbished as authentically as possible)
  16. Incirlik has some incredible mountains to the east. Syria map has it! Mountains = TFR land! Set 200', hard ride, 700 mph...
  17. That, or the over-G damage may be cumulative...
  18. Hi, Right now, I've got a triple monitor setup ((1920x1080)* 3 = 5760x1080) and considering upgrading to a 34" curved monitor (3440x1440). It's 20% fewer pixels, so my system should be able to handle it, and I won't be annoyed by the bezels anymore (they're minimal anyway). Has anyone done this? Was it worth it? Should I know anything about this swap before ordering it? Thanks in advance!
  19. Seems easy enough to duplicate...10% fuel, no stores, low alt., max horizontal turn.
  20. Thank you! I've always perceived it to start out with "right low", probably because the R needle is lower than the left....but on that side of the gauge, "lower" means "more".
  21. Hi, discovered this over the past few times I tried cross-country in the F-5. Full internal fuel, take off get to altitude and after some distance (30 miles-ish) I notice the right tank still shows full, while left is decreasing. Flip the transfer switch to "right low" but after some more straight and level flying, the right tank still shows full while the left went down to half. This used to function properly about a month ago. Track file included. (Edit: transfer switch is thrown about 7:30 into the flight, by 10:00 it is clear that left is going down while right is not) Thanks! F5 Fuel Trf problem.trk
