A quick footnote. The ammo crate is very difficult, the bundle of logs is impossible but the iso container is manageable. I cannot help but feel the programming is out somewhere. If a load starts swinging. I come to a complete stationary hover - no forward speed and no change in altitude - but say. the logs. continue swinging with the swing getting bigger and bigger until it gets higher than the helicopter then the line breaks. I don't think this reflects real life. Thoughts? ChrisJD

Thanks MAXsenna I do have the Syria map so I'll try that. So far I have tried 2 ammunition crate s, a 3ft bundle of logs and a 6ft bundle of logs. If I am very careful I can get to about 20kph before the load starts swinging then breaks. I was watching some you tube videos of slinging and they have the same problem, I'll keep trying. Hi again! Now that I have got that sorted, I now have the problem of the wildly swinging cargo. No matter how careful I am and gentle with moving off the load starts swinging which gets worse until it eventually snaps the line and the load is lost. Any tips please? Hi and thank you Art-J You were quite right (actually on both points) I found I had the radio set on main and also. even though I thought I checked. I had the ammo box set on USA. I had completely forgotten I had to change to the correct coalition For some reason my new controller has the radio set up on the joystick trigger! Anyway all is well and thank you for your help. Hi Thank you for your replies. 1) It is my own mission - just a test 2) Yes- the ammo crate is ticked in the 'can be cargo' box 3) Yes - it is set as Russia. What I have found is that R/Ctrl +R/Shift +P does not load the guide and R/Ctrl +R/Shift +L does not connect sling to cargo Basically nothing happens at all I am thinking that either one of the games updates or a Belsimtek update have caused this as I had sling load working perfectly the last time I used it - perhaps a year ago or more. My question is, are your sling loads working for the Mi-8 & if so. what command do you use to bring up the menu with F6? Thanks ChrisJD

Hi I have just returned to DCS after some time with MSFS 2020. I wanted to start sling loads again as I had done before. I have just landed my Mi8 next to an ammunition crate Now the problem. Chuck says \ opens the menu. I have a note that says I used # This brings up the Main menu with F5 F7 & F8 only - no F6. It does not matter what keys I use I cannot the menu showing except # - with no F6. Any idea what the problem is? Help please! ChrisJD

Thank you for your help - unfortunately it did not help! The actual path for Hercules is: Desktop\this PC\Videos\saved games\DCS openbeta\mods\aircraft\Hercules. I didn't put it there & when I found it, it was in the double folder - Hercules\Hercules - which I had carefully corrected in the places I did put it. Anyway, all's well that ends well & Hercules is up & running in DCS. Thanks again. ChrisD

Sorry to sound like an idiot - but how do you install this mod? Firstly, I did not have a saved games folder on C:\Users\Chris. So I added the following -\Saved Games\DCSWorld OpenBeta\mods\aircraft\ then added Hercules 6.5 ( NOT Hercules\Hercules) Nothing has shown up on DCS DCS is installed on E drive & is up to date. Any idea where I am going wrong? ChrisD Just to add - I have turned off the historical filter - with it on it showed 2016. Nowhere is Hercules showing.

I am surprised no one has changed the A8 to the F8. The biggest change is the bubble canopy - from the 190D maybe. Easy removal of the outer cannons? ChrisJD

Hi Just bought the F86, seems to have installed correctly BUT when I select, say, Free Flight, the program loads the A10C. When loaded the Briefing screen shows the F86 Free Flight, but the aircraft is the A10C. I am using Win10 & DCS is 2.5.5. Help!! ChrisD

Solved I think! Hi The Autopilot is NOT mentioned, nor is the EAC used for the this. The actual place is the LAAP. L Alt + A puts the Autopilot into Alt Hold. To change to other modes you press L Alt + A again, then select L Alt + 1 2 or 3 then press L Alt + A again & you should get Path hold or Path/Alt hold. I will have to have a play around to get things clear in my mind! ChrisJD

Thanks nessuno0505 Yes I have tried different permutations of L Alt + 1 2 3 4 5 No luck. The problem is that on the Control set up for the A10A, the Autopilot is not listed at all - so obviously no keystrokes are going to be recognised. Perhaps I will raise a bug report with ED. ChrisJD

Hi JanK I have been using DCS since FC1, so I am familiar with the keystrokes for the Autopilot. I am currently using the latest version of DCS 2.5.4.27430. The A10A has no keystrokes/joystick buttons at all for an Autopilot, & the F15C has 3 listed - none of which work. Since there is nothing listed for the A10A, I would like to know why this has been omitted - when the real A10A has an autopilot? Hardly realistic! ED, answers please. ChrisJD

Hi I had to re install DCS recently & thought I would fly the A10A & F15 again. So where is the autopilot for both these aircraft? The key strokes are listed, but have no effect. Am I missing something or have they actually been removed from the modules? ChrisJD

Final Hi norbot. Well! As a last resort I installed a fresh new DCS World. All my modules are there, the installed list shows the A4 & guess what? The A4 is now available in the mission planner & I took it out for a short circuit & it flies beautifully with no problems at all. I now have to set up all the controls again for all my modules but that's no problem. However, here is the thing - the new install did NOT make a C\User\Chris\Saved Games\DCS folder, but again made D\Chris\Saved Games\DCS & in fact used the same folder I had been using with my missions & liveries as well as the A4. Strange, but it works. Just wanted a new install to find the A4. So all's well that ends well - fingers crossed! Regards. ChrisJD

Hi norbot No luck with the repair - all it did was make a new saved game folder in D drive - so I had 2 of them. I have a feeling that when I got my PC a new SSD drive C was fitted just for Windows & I think any extra programs or data, etc were diverted to D drive. This is why DCS puts the saved games folder in D. So until the A4 is placed in the Mods folder in DCS it is never going to work for me - unless the devs have any other ideas. Regards ChrisJD

Thanks norbot. The odd thing is that on the D drive there is a folder called missions & on that I had about 6 of my missions which showed up to use in game. I certainly have many more aircraft than the 2 free ones. Oh well. I'll try your suggestions but I think you may be right about a re-install. We'll see. Thanks again. Regards ChrisJD

Right!! The problem is something I stupidly skipped over. I blindly assumed that the Chris\Saved Games in drive D was the one used. BUT the word User was not there. I then looked at C drive & found Users\Chris there. But there was no entry for Saved Games or DCS for that matter. so I added them all up to & including the A4. Partial success! The A4 now shows up on the installed list on the home screen. But it does not appear in the mission editor. So I assume the editor cannot find the A4 install location. Can anyone help with this? As an aside, I find I have a J-11A on the control set up screen. What is that? Apologies for wasting peoples time with my problem which is of my own making. Duh!! Regards, ChrisJD

Thanks Norbot Our posts crossed whilst I was typing. I will now remove it from the DCS root program where it is in the Mods folder. I only downloaded the latest version of DCS World yesterday so I assume it is the stable version? I'll let you know in just a moment. Thanks WinterH I have seen this point made many times on this post. Please be assured it is as you said it should be - in my case it is D:\Users\Chris\Saved Games\DCS\Mods\aircraft\A-4E-C & then the list of files starting with cockpit, encyclopedia, etc. Mods was not there so I added it + aircraft I have also added it to F:\DCS\Mods\aircraft. All my aircraft, extras, etc are there & show on the installed list on the home screen - just not the A4! Regards, ChrisJD

Another non starter Hi Just to clarify. I have the latest version of DCS World as mentioned, and v102 of the A4. I have double checked the folders & everything is in the right place. I have tried with the A4 folder in DCS/Mods/aircraft only & also Chris/Saved Games/DCS/Mods/aircraft only. Neither work. The A4 does not show in the installed list nor is it available for mission creation. I cannot see what is wrong & I am sure other people have installed the A4 with no trouble. So where am I going wrong? Help please. ChrisJD

Another non access Hi I have version 2.5.4.26825. My DCS saved games are in D drive - C is Windows only. I have placed the download (Yes the inner one) as follows: D:\Chris\Saved Games\DCS\Mods\aircraft\A-4E-C. I have also placed it in F:\DCS\Mods\aircraft\A-4E-C (F is the game only HDD) The A4 is not showing on my installed list, nor obviously in the mission editor. Any help appreciated. Regards ChrisJD
