  1. Thanks heaps, problem solved. Now to figure out how to fly this thing!
  2. Got it, thanks. Do I then re-bind the pause button to the space key?
  3. Hi all, Newbie problem here. I can't start the training missions. They start with the introduction and I am asked to press the space key to unpause the sim. My space key is assigned to reset my VR HMD, but I have the pause function assigned to the pause/break key. No key on the keyboard will unpause the training mission and allow it to start (although the pause/break key does pause the game). I can't find the correct function to assign to a key. Please help, this is very frustrating! Cheers.
  4. Thanks to everyone for the responses. I’ll buy the module this weekend and give it a try.
  5. Hi all, Is anyone using the Vive Pro with this jet? I’m wondering what kind of performance to expect with an i7, 16GB RAM & 1080ti. I’d hate to purchase only to find it unflyable. Any experiences appreciated

    VR in 2.5

Hi all, Hoping for some advice. I was really excited to play DCS 2.5 on my new Vive Pro pushed by an i7 8700k at 4.8GHz, 16GB RAM and 1080ti. I searched the forums for some moderate settings and followed the recommendations but sadly the game is unplayable for me. It seems to be capped at 45FPS with occasional dips into the low 40s, but it is full of judders and occasionally reverts to the load screen. I'm really disappointed because the old version of DCS used to run great on my Oculus Rift and 980Ti. Am I missing something or is there a way to revert to the old game that seemed to be better optimised for VR? Appreciate any help.
  7. I received my Jetseat yesterday, quick postage to Australia. Easy to set up & I really like the effects, it's great in Iracing too (although I didn't realise additional $30 software was required for racing). I have a question, should I be using the simhaker software called DCS or AVIATORS? I installed both & both work but I'm not sure which is better. Chris
  8. Quick update, a week into my training on the A10C and I'm really glad I followed the majority of advice here and stuck with it. It's still a steep learning curve but that makes it all the more rewarding. I am now half way through the basic flight training campaign and doing things I wouldn't have thought possible a week ago like landing with an engine down, flying an approach pattern to strict margins and landing etc. On day one I almost quit because I couldn't even get the thing started! So glad I persevered. Thanks to everyone for the advice.
  9. Thanks for the advice everyone. I'm sticking with it and enjoying the journey!
  10. Thanks everyone for your advice and encouragement. After plenty of reading today I jumped into the training missions and eventually managed to successfully land the beast (with step-by-step instructions). I can now see how rewarding it will be to slowly master this bird, step by step. I'm going to persevere and stick with the A-10C, even though I did buy the FC3 module.
  11. Thanks for all the responses guys, what a helpful community. Considering that feedback I'm thinking the best way for me to start is to lean the basics in the flaming cliffs planes while reading the A10C manual & memorising the systems & terminology as best as I can. Does that sound like a good learning method? One problem I've already encountered is that making notes/ checklists is almost pointless in VR because it's so cumbersome to read them in flight. Guess I'll have to rely on my memory & practice.
  12. I'll narrow that question down for obvious reasons. I have no flight experience IRL & very little in sims, but I am committed to putting in the time required to learn this properly. My question for you experienced pilots is; am I being too ambitious by starting with the A-10C? Hardware wise I have a CV1 & Warthog HOTAS so I'd like to get started on this plane but the learning curve is STEEP! For example, I did the landing training mission last night and couldn't even find the runway! Should I start with an easier plane or just dive right in? I note there are plenty of beginner resources on this forum to guide me and I will read that 600+ page manual (yawn).
