  2. Very interesting tool, always nice to learn of such utilities. I am using Notpad++'s "find in files". Regarding our issue, the problem was using the MissionEditor/dedicatedServerGUI.lua file from version 2.7. So problem identified and solved. Many thanks
  3. Hi Maverick I am not sure what it is but we have worked around the issue by creating the required file (loadUserScripts.lua) and leaving it empty. Our hooks file has been the same for years. It even works on our stable server that is on 2.7 . Anyway thanks and best regards.
  4. Hi Maverick. Thanks for the response. The issue arises if you have any script in the Scipts/hooks folder. Our 3 servers have been in operation for 5 years non stop and this update is the first one with this issue. And we have seen issues over the years.... We have about 2000 lines of code implementing the on-line and game functionality of our server. Test it if you can and let me know. Thanks PS. I have tried all common fixes. Also standalone and server version behaves the same.

  6. Thanks Flappie. I suspect it has something to do with compatibility with windows server. I have used it because of networking performance. I hope it does not have to go. Cheers

  8. Hi Flappie No Compatibility mode enabled. Please note that the very same machine has been running (and updating with DCS_updater) for the Server for more than 3 years now. Plus the existing updater works fine. Doing a repair for example completes with no issues (see pic 01 Running the same exe for update end up in the sequence 02 (downloading) and 03 (failing) of the attached pictures. Please help as the server is now down for the third day. Never happened before even in the bad crash days... EDIT: Running the lates exe (2.11.2.89) with the cleanup parameter does give the same error msg. Windows logs show nothing relevant to the issue.
  9. Hi all I have not been able to update the game (for the JDF server) with the following error : "The application was modified". The server runs on Windows Server 2019 essentials All tricks tried, antivirus off, folder excluded, downloading updater directly from https://updates.digitalcombatsimulator.com/, temp files deleted etc Also tried new installation of server, after initial setup and desktop icons creation, the updater crashes with same error. Please help as the stable server cannot run 2.7.x Cheers

  12. Dear friends, What I see is two guys, that for all I know from past communications come accross as both nice, ruining their day and the fun they can have. We have two choices : We go on forever arguing "you did this, you did that" and get the discussion really ugly OR we can forget what has happened, make peace, SMILE, and think this over. We are locked in our houses, and I hope each and every one of you is healthy. There, first reason to smile. Then, we have nice computers, great simulators and nice servers. More smiles. We can play with things that are truly amazing... Do not let mishaps ruin this. We all have done things that are unfair or simply wrong and have made people mad. And since this is a game meant to give us pleasure and fun, I will ask you this from the bottom of my heart : Sort it out you two, because JDF would not be the same without either of you. The same goes for every single player that connects to our server. You are the reason I keep it alive, because unfortunately my time schedule has become hectic and free time is something that I do not have. @Maxsin, I have to tell you that Thrust did ask me twice to delete his account. This shows a decent guy. @Thrust : Maxsin straight out said that he does not want you banned in any way... Shake hands and give me some video of good fights to upload to the site. And forget about the score... And let's hope ED sees this and fixes the changing slots thing sooner than later. I will make another post at the closed beta forums. And I have to fix this thread. seems all broken up after the update. Angelo PS Maxsin if you want please delete the post with the pics. Point is taken and I would prefer to have this thread with only positive things in it.
  13. Hi Thrust and company. Going straight t the point : - 1 vs 1 have no rules regarding game play as you get to choose your opponent. It's then between the two what goes and what not. Someone can always just leave the "offending" player to fight himself. Plus, in 1 vs 1 slots people usually expect the other player re-selecting a slot with 100 % health, so no worries there. - Friendly fire is already taken care of, with the auto-kick - auto temp-ban system. Not much we can do in the limited time that I have at the moment. I hope is is good enough. Plus veteran players almost always help newcomers not making these mistakes. This is something nice and nobble. -If you are landed on a friendly base, you can change slots or eject; it makes no difference. And nobody is going to say anything if you are alone and change slots mid air. It's mid battle with someone on your tail that makes it bad. The idea is to run for your life, or stay and fight; but not to eject or even worse, change slots to deny the other player the kill. Plus, the AAA is there to save you, if you manage to make it and land. I know you are familiar with al this, I just repeat it for the unfamiliar reader. Do not go crazy over it though, we want a relaxed environment and people enjoying themselves (remember, you can even take off from the taxiways for God's shake :) ), but this slot changing was getting out of hand. Unfortunately the only real solution is to be fixed in the game. I hope it will be soon (ED guys are aware of it). The way it was before was "good enough" for multiplayer. Best regards to all ! PS A Kill to Death ratio report per month for Guns and AIR area is very, very amusing... I will not publish anything, but the ones that became VERY good VERY fast know... Also, all servers have full tacview tracks since the very early days. Just saying...
  14. Hi guys. The stats will be back. Also there will be a wall of shame. I will not publish anything from the past, but from the momemt that stas return. In the mean time all your score is registered, so do not worry about loosing anything (@Maxsin carry on fighting). To the best of my knowledge, no one is cheating with modified planes. The cheating I refer to is the changing of slots as to not register a death. We all know who is doing it (with lots of database proof), and we all know who is a good pilot. Closing this post, I would like to remind everyone that we all love planes and having competitive fun with friends, Let's keep it that way. I will do some database optimizations that are needed and all will be back to normal. I hope to find the time this weekend. Cheers all !
  15. Hi Pulsar, If the maps were all free, we could have a rotation system. Once the new free map arrives, this is a possiblility, time permitting. But at the end of the day, JDF is not about the map or the mission. It's about close air combat, and the air is more or less the same on all maps :) Cheers
  16. Hi Carlos and company. There is not much we can do to fix this. ED should return the system as they had it before - registering a death when the player leaves his slot if not on a friendly base. I know it's very very annoying but this is internetz for you. On the other hand, I am in no way inclined to become a policeman, especially for a game. The idea is to have fun, make friends and become better dogfighter gamers. I have noticed that all this mess causes a lot of friction and really bad and unacceptable reactions from players. I have seen some language that makes me want to take the servers down. Swearing/attacking other people's family or religion or skin color ? How sad is that ? JDF has been up 24/7 for almost 4 years now. The ban list count is just 4 players ! I do not want this to drastically change. Top 10 and stats is a nice thing to have, but I am afraid that makes things worse. I may very well take them down, this is the reason I did not have them since the early days. In any case, I have met some really cool guys on JDF, and I have to thank each and every one, even the ones that have occasionally expressed themselves with a bit more passion (if you know what I mean). Keep on smiling !
  17. Hi Willie If you haven't already done so, here it is : - Register on the site - Go to your profile page - Click on the "copy" link. This will copy your RSV code so you can paste it later - Launch the game and connect to any JDF server (stable or open beta) - Once connected, press SHIFT + TAB - The chat window should be shown, and you should be able to type. - Instead, press CONTROL - V to paste the coped code and press enter. You should get a "RESERVATION OK" message. More details with pictures here: justdogfight.com Cheers !
  18. Hi darkman Yes, a kill to death ratio is possible. As you say for some areas (like 1v1) it has slightly different definition as 99% of players just eject after a kill. For the other areas it's a bit more involving but still doable to a great degree of accuracy. At the moment the scoring system is on hold as I am collecting data to see the amount of storage required. This will play major role in database optimizations plus archiving data (thus loosing granularity in the process). Also note that at the moment the kills is just as DCS reports them (what you see on the chat area) without any extra processing. For the publicly visible stats I would prefer something generic as it is now. For members, one should be able to see much more details (as it already is now), including how he/she measures against individual players, stats over time etc. A lot of potential is there, and many ideas are on the table. I do mean it that it is one of the best DCS (and not only) videos I have seen. Captures the moment, the excitement, the action, and I better stop here or I will start sounding like those late night film critics LOL I have already posted it on the site news, but it needs a more prominent place.   22. Hey Darkman ! Very nice video indeed ! The "b2" server has them on. No bandwidth issues there. I have them on with no delay. I don't think it gives any advantage as the moment you spawn you are in the enemy's nose anyway. And I have to agree with you, it's a great learning tool. Cheers !

  25. Hi Contact ! The German server has loads and loads of bandwidth available so I have all exports turned on as so many people in the past have asked for it. As this is the very opposite of a tactical server, the position give-away of the system should be of non importance. Is there any reason that you want it turned off ? Please let me know if I miss something. Cheers PS You will also have to calm down all the guys with the force feel chairs that use these data to operate... :)
