  1. I for one would NOT be happy having to pay for something that should be part of the core sim experience
  2. This idea was suggested many years ago (on these forums I think) , but nothing was done about it by ED Hyperlobby cannot support DCS due to a lack of functionality on the DCS side of things
  3. It would be simpler just to add commandline support , that is all that is needed for a game to work with hyperlobby -connect address:port for connecting to a server -host configfile.txt possible implementation for a host to launch game with a config file that sets everything up
  4. Hyper lobby was amazing Back in ye olde days we had a great time using it , it was brilliant for organising games il2 , lomac etc DCS could support it and give use a better way of organising flights ..... But sadly ED seem to not care about us All they would have to do is add command line start-up options to the game, then we could use hyperlobby to play together Consider that command line options have been arround since the 80's, its not asking too much is it ?
  5. if you want to disable updates on windows 10 you can open a dos window as administrator and use sc config BITS start= disabled sc failure BITS reset= 86400 actions= ////// net stop BITS sc config wuauserv start= disabled sc failure wuauserv reset= 86400 actions= ////// net stop wuauserv if you want to disable ms installer service (to stop stupid apps being re-installed after you remove them) use: sc config msiserver start= disabled sc failure msiserver reset= 86400 actions= ////// net stop msiserver I have attached a bat file with a menu on it (easier to use) must run it as admin tho update_control.zip
  6. hmmmm 1. Try making sure dcs.exe is enabled in your windows firewall (are you using any other firewall software) 2. Is the server set to public ? (in the create multiplaer server bit of DCS)
  7. NOT the best idea if it is a windows based PC, fully exposing it to the internet is not the best idea if you dont want it possibly getting hacked
  8. is there a new moderator ? AH the banner at the top , doh Its nice
  9. ...... Once had one come in ... from an office in a quarry , entire inside coated with about 10 - 15mm of heavy dust was awefull And yeah smokers ones are terrible to work on , sticky smelly crap over everthing
  10. The havoc training server (no PVP) has it for you to fly around in
  11. I have all the helis , my fave is the MI-8 In order Mi-8 ka-50 huey Gazelle
  12. I use water cooling in both my media pc and my gaming rig Corsair H50 and a corsair H80 , they have both been rocking strong for 5+ years now without issue, my i5 is overclocked from 3.3Ghz to 4.4Ghz and it stay pretty cool under the H80
  13. IS there a benchmarking track anywhere that can give good consistent results every time it is run ?
  14. Nope thats port trigger , not port forwarding On my router it is Go to Advanced -> NAT forwarding -> Virtual servers Find your internal IP (from your computer hosting dcs) Create a new rule TCP and UDP port 10308 and set it to your host PC ip
  15. I toyed with the idea of upgrading my current aging system but decided against it (it was going to cost a lot to go to 7700K or 6700K based system) i5 2500K at 4.4Ghz with a zotac 1080ti amp edition The best thing I did in the last year was to buy a 34" Asus Gsync monitor , it was the thing that made the best difference to my gaming experience
  16. Nope sadly after 8+ years there is still NOT a dedicated server, its a damn shame Also now server hosters (hosting not playing) will be expected to purchase maps assets etc just to host a game , which no one else does
  17. Sorry if I confused you , BUT I NEVER said 2 hours to make a dedicated server if you had read my earlier post Quoted here What I was refering to was a small change ........... Once again sorry for confusing you, a small change like this could be done quickly I was not refering to creating a dedicated server in 2 hours Is that any clearer for you ?
  18. You are correct, right now there is not way but ED have the source code and could spend an hour or 2 from one software engineer to change it so that it does I have outlined a couple of possible software implementations to deal with this situation
  19. Yes you do have to buy it (unlike just about every other game in the universe) ... even though you will not be actually playing on it ... just hosting .... it almost seems like they dont want to support the mulitplayer community that help to promote their software
  20. Yes I am painfully aware that after 8+ years they still have not given us a proper dedicated server Errrrrr , they wrote the software so YES it can distingush If host does not click on a plane slot it is a server Pretty simple eh ? Probably a few lines of code to implement this Thats all that would have to be done to work out if it is a player or just a server hosting but not playing A command line startup option of for example -server could just lock any player slots and stop them being clicked on
  21. Yes if you want to host a "dedicated" server By dedicated I mean running the game ONLY to host in multiplayer for other to connect to So to host NTTR (neveda) server for others to connect to you have to buy NTTR map .... or Normandy or Assets pack NO ONE else out there does this, they allow you to host a game server WITHOUT having to buy the DLC for the server
  22. ^ THIS Unlike all other (cannot even think of an instance) games that have multiplayer facilities , DCS World wants you to pay for content so you can host game servers ..... which helps to promote their software???? Content that if you are hosting a dedicated (non playing client) will not even use Personally I think it is a bad idea, no one else does this (having the source code means they could choose NOT to do this but sadly do not) I only hope that sometime soon they will see the light and reverse their decision
  23. Do your self a favour before overclocking use something like acronis to take a backup image of your system That way if it goes badly wrong you can restore your OS without too much trouble I use : intel burn test 20 runs (will make your CPU get as hot as it ever will) OCCT for 12 hours memtest for about 12 hours To make sure my system is stable (not OCed) , then overclock and do it all again to be sure good luck
  24. Dont assume that because it boots it is ok I recommend you do a proper memory test, the windows one is useless http://www.memtest.org/#downiso Get this use it on a cd or usb stick reboot pc and boot from the cd or usb you stuck memtest on I have used this one on 100's of machines Hirens boot cd also has a version on it (its older but works well)
