That’s very normal for helicopters
Surely not at 7000ft in a chinook, and still remain flying with your rotors at 74%!
-
I've put a simple mission together (cold start) to rescue troops at elevation, in bad weather. Apart from fuel, the chinook is empty. I have noticed that I begin to lose rpm when I approach 6000ft ASL, and it continues to deteriorate as I climb, the whole time my torque is around 55-60%. At around 7500ft my RPM is 74% and I'm still airborne LOL

Awesome work, looking forward to its release.

Whilst wearing NVG ( in VR), Radar/baro altitude, torque and speed data are impossible to read on the VSD. I’ve switched the MDF’s to Nvg, and altered the brightness as well as the nvg gain. Even using the vr snap zoom, it is still difficult to read. Is it that difficult in real life, as those digits are displayed in green?
Is it possible to have the VSD in full screen mode?
Is there a way to dim the standby flight display? The bright/dim switch on the pilot display unit does not appear to alter the brightness whilst in nvg.
Maybe these things haven’t been fully implemented yet, or I’ve missed something, thanks.

An interesting mission concept for the near future would be downed aircraft recovery. Say, dropping off a detachment of grunts for perimeter security and mechanics for the preparation of the downed aircraft for slinging. For simulation purposes, this could be a 15-minute wait or less.

I have a buttkicker, this gives a physical alert to not only entering and leaving translational lift, but also if you were to enter VRS. This piece of kit, along with VR, gives great situational awareness of your a/c current situation.

Excellent, thanks mate, love the yotube channel too.

As per the title. This would be really useful for those of us who predominately fly in VR. To be able to read the manual whilst in game would help immensely in training and general referencing.

When entering instant action cold and dark start, the frame rate within the cockpit fluctuate between 10-15 fps. By reducing textures from high to medium, increased to 35-40 fps. It’s a temporary solution but hopefully it’s resolved soon.

Rename your "Saved Games/DCS.../Scripts/Export.lua" file to "Export.lua.bak", then see if things improve.
Unfortunately there is no improvement.

Sitting in the Apache in the instant action-airfield start on the caucus map. My frame rate are at 20! They were at 40 prior to the 2.9 patch. I have no idea why, any suggestion?

@Rabies Check if DCS starts fine with "pancake" (2d) mode.
if it fails, try uninstalling/reinstalling your GPU driver.
I have tried that, and now have resorted to a new install. DCS is still not launching, even in pancake mode.

Hi. Try this:
- Browse to "Saved Games/DCS.openbeta/Config".
- Rename your "options.lua" file to "options.lua.bak".
- Test DCS.
- If this doesn't change anything, rename your whole "DCS.openbeta" folder to "DCS.openbeta.bak" (you will need this backup folder - do NOT delete it).
- Test DCS. It will ask for your credentials and you will have default bindings. This is normal, and I will tell you how to get your custom keybinds back.
- Still no joy? Then run a DCS cleanup and repair.
Hi, thank you for your response. Unfortunately, DCS still will not start.
-
Anyone able to assist? DCS won’t start in either 2D or VR.

I run DCS open beta. Both ST and MT .exe fail to launch DCs post yesterdays update. Upon executing a start, apart from the cursor timer showing for a few seconds, nothing occurs. I don’t even get the small DCS window that opens as the game begins to load. I’ve tried launching from both desktop shortcuts and directly from the .exe within the bin-file.
I’ve undertaken a full repair, to no avail.

As the title states. It would be great to be able to randomly experience such hazards whilst operating in our desert/winter maps. It would also be useful to have as an option in the ME. Allowing mission designers to setup a brown/white-out location by simply designating a particular area, similar to the ability to remove objects such as trees, by setting a particular radius.

I was unable to run a repair yesterday whilst flying on the Rotorheads server. I lost number two engine. Returned to base and shut down. Ground crew refused to repair, telling me to shut down the engines. I restarted the apu and engine 2 oil psi was showing 20, and there was a faint engine sound that would disappear for a second or two then return.
I’d been flying for a number of hours so I haven’t even considered uploading the track file.
I’ve also noticed that my Warthog throttles disconnect from their throttle bindings post repair. Prior to restarting the engines, I use the key commands to move the throttles forward which then re syncs my warthog throttles. Any suggestions on how to resolve this?

I jumped back into the pilot seat after a break of 3 weeks or so. Obviously there have been a number of updates during that period.
When slewing my HMS to the CPG (George) TADS and selecting the targets from his list, my TADS display in the MFD slews to the target, however, I am no longer seeing a Cued LOS reticle in my IHADSS display so I can visualise where George has located the target. Am I missing a key binding to enable the cued LOS reticle?
Thanks

So this hasn't been fixed yet? I just noticed after my first weapons employment that I'm a much better shot in a hot start A/C than in a cold and dark one with having gone through the boresighting process. Either way, as supposed (right eye perfectly aligned to the BRU) or the supposed workaround (aim inbetween the crosses with IHADSS on both eyes), doesn't really fix that for me.
Did you try the other way? Right eye on the centre of the BRU and use the keyboard commands to move your head, up, down, left, right etc until the circles and dot aligns. Once boresighted, readjust your seating position for flying.
This works really well for me. -

That is usually when something has gone wrong during the calibration, please try running the calibration tool again as below:
1: Download the latest version for the calibration tool from my website (https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0011/5602/2282/files/Thumbstick_Sensor_Calibration_Tool.zip?11593063595637542780)
Make sure you have extracted the zip file after downloading. The "A10_calibration.txt" file must be in the same folder "Throttle Warthog Calibration (V1.07).exe" is run from.
2: Run the calibration tool and carefully follow the on-screen instructions. It should run through all the way through with no error messages.
Be careful to move the both the throttles to the OFF, IDLE and MAX positions when asked.
OFF is the fully back position over the detent lifts, IDLE is the next stop up or the minimum flight setting, and MAX is fully forward and over any afterburner lift.
If you have any custom afterburner detents installed, you may need to temporarily remove them for the calibration.
Hopefully that will get you working again.
Fixed. I hadn't been unzipping it correctly. Thanks for your help.

Today I fitted the TM Warthog analog thumb stick. I followed the instructions and calibrated the new thumb stick. However, in DCS Axis controls or the PC USB Game Controllers, the throttles are registering as either on or off when manipulated. There is no gradual increase/sliding on the power, its either full or off.
Any idea what has happened?
Thanks

After taking damage whilst flying MP, bitching betty called out engine failure for both engines. However, the engine MFD was showing engine 2 as functioning, although it was operating at an abnormal temperature. Externally, both engines seem to be displaying the same damage modelling.
Upon landing and shutting down at the FARP, I was unable to instigate a repair as ground crew requested for engine shut down. During the flight back to the FARP, I was experiencing a strange intermittent sound which I have never heard before in DCS. Maybe someone knows what that sound is replicating?
The incident was on the last flight. The track file can be found at the following link, thanks.

Low RPM at 60% Torque at altitude

I know performance deteriorates at altitude and temperatures. However, this is an empty hook, struggling to get above 7000ft, with rotor dropping to 74%. However, if I place a hook already in the air at 13,000ft, it’s maintaining rotor rpm at 100%.
