  1. When you are pulling in the collective, watch your rotor rpm, it’s dropping to the point the generators are falling offline. As mentioned above, your are probably at max-weight or above, rolling takeoff is the way to go. You could share your mission file so we can replicate your takeoff.
  2. You young grasshopper I’ve been waiting since I first played Gunship on the ZX SPECTRUM 128k in 1986
  3. Looks like early access will be at the end of January 2022.
  4. I will use the combination of my UH-1 collective along side the Warthog throttles. The combination should suffice the clicking requirements whilst flying in VR.
  5. Being from a Cold War aviation unit stationed in Germany. I would honestly enjoy a campaign from that era or an adversary with todays military technology, of facing a modernised mechanised armoured unit of Russia or China. Back in the day, my unit was given less than 24 hours of combat effectiveness if the USSR decided to cross the East German border. It’s time DCS players faced a contemporary adversary and not some dude with an AK-47
  6. Well the Marianas map is free. You could set up an amphibious landing/invasion similar to that of Grenada with a twist of Apaches over Libya were British Apaches operated from a naval vessel. Limit fix wing to harriers, so you’re not having F-18 and F-14’s swamping the region. And slowly island hop through the region. The smaller islands can have militia like activity while the larger ones a well entrenched military with decent air defences.
  7. I think they may plan to release it in line with the Apache, the ultimate cooperative play.
  8. I’m very happy with it, I’ve not had any issues and it’s very comfortable to use over a long period of time. My model was an earlier version which I purchased in 2017, the latest models look far superior and also have the starter trigger implemented.
  9. I currently use the maxflightstick huey controls. But I will be placing my warthog throttle next to the collective to allow individual throttle control and more key binding.
  10. “George” is a gender neutral name and will keep the woke-people amongst us happy
  11. Did anyone else notice the short glimpse of the Apache without the Longbow Radar?
  12. As per the title. I realise force feedback joysticks are out there, albeit limited options. Having the possibility of purchasing a miniature butt kicker implement that can be attached to the shaft of your joystick (those that have them) would be a great immersion factor. Especially for someone like myself that just flies the helicopters, having constant feedback would add to whole experience. Does this sound feasible?
  13. The best thing I purchased for flying helicopters is a ButtKicker. It gives constant feedback from engine and rotor rpm, through to entering VRS, translational lift, weapons fire, to being hit etc. It really helps in giving early indication of what the aircraft is doing or about to do, that coupled with VR and motion platform, I’m in heaven lol.
  14. There is the possibility that when you are heavy and attempting to hover or transition from hover to forward flight, that your main rotor rpm may drop, resulting in insufficient anti torque being available to correct any rotational tendencies. However, I do wish DCS could implement LTE in all helicopter modules.
  15. The new civilian airframe paint job caused a weight increase
  16. I always take off with max fuel and max load out. I simply do running take offs and pull collective at 70+ kph. At the mountain helipads on the Caucasus region and in the Syria map on multiplayer, regardless of temperature, I do running take offs over the edge and dive into the valley, picking up speed and transitioning from an aerodynamic brick into a flying machine. I love finding the limits of the machine and then exploiting them.
  17. You sound like the type of person that would argue the fact that if you were to be marching out of step in a military parade and the Drill Sergeant were to inform you of that fact, you would argue to the contrary and state it is you that is instep and everyone else is out of step.
  18. Split into two parts, the second has some awesome footage and detail in its role with the soviets in Afghan war 1979 - 1989.
  19. The video also explains the reasons behind the fitting of the GSh 30 mm cannon on the side and not as a turret mount.
  20. Hopefully I’m not duplicating this post.
  21. Upon inserting troops via helicopter, they advance only so far towards the enemy and eventually stop at a specific location marked by a flag. Is there anyway you can move that flag in multiplayer so they continue to move and engage the enemy?
  22. Hi John, I like your videos. There is one error in your start up video. You failed to turn on the inverter on the panel where the generator switches are. Because of this, during engine start, non of your engine, rotor gearbox gauges etc. were working, they only came to life after you opened up the throttle and turned on the generators and inverters.
  23. Personally I have not found the Mi24 to be so susceptible to VRS as the Mi8, and on those rare occasions, recovery has been straight forward. When you are slowing down and entering the realm of possible VRS, it’s imperative that you monitor your VSI. Eventually your intuition will be applying suitable power as you slow down.
  24. I watched these videos in the late 1980’s as part of learning USSR helicopter tactics.
