For some reason, I can not get the VR Neck Safer to work in DCS. It works easily and perfectly in IL2 and I followed all the same required steps to get it working in DCS but to no avail. I have the Open XR version of Neck Safer because I run Il2 with that. I ordinarily do not run DCS with either Open XR or Steam Vr. I did, however, run DCS using Open XR just to see if the Neck Safer worked but it did not. Spent a couple hours trying different things to get it to work in DCS. Frustrating. Its really a good mod and a must have for dogfighting. Any suggestions?

I hope that multithreading improves Apache FPS
MADLOU1 replied to DmitriKozlowsky's topic in DCS: AH-64D
I certainly hope so. Especially in VR. -
I know. So what? I want what I want. I currently have a Quest 2 which I am very satisfied with except for the FOV which is basically the same as most headsets. However, that Pimax....!
-
Oh I see now on their website. The newest model is the E4 with a fov of 116 degrees. Still Meh. I want a Pimax with 200 FOV. Have to rob a bank first.
-
Which model is that? I spoke to a company rep who told me the FOV was 110 degrees but maybe they were referring to the wrong model. They emailed me a chart of their P1 and E3 series headsets, none of which had more than 110 degrees.
-
According the company, the FOV is only 110 degrees...meh.

Well hopefully this is not true, because if it is, since I'm only interested in playing these sims in VR, my multi-year relationship with DCS will have to come to an end.
-
I agree. I have an old weak system and the changing to OpenXR made a huge difference in smoothness.

I have the exact same computer specs as you and have the same experience as you. In that "other" flight sim, I can pretty much max out the graphic settings and get a very smooth, jitter free VR experience with good FPS, in both the tanks and planes, but not so with DCS. In DCS 2d, though, I can completely max out all the graphic settings and get a great experience. But alas, I'm one of those people who went to VR and can not go back to 2d. LOL. So I will put DCS on the proverbial shelf for now. I agree that the solution would be multicore and Vulkan instead of me putting out thousands of dollars for computer upgrades just so I can play one sim decently in VR.

Oculus Quest 2 DCS via OpenXR or OTT what do you guys use?
MADLOU1 replied to RoboHackfeld's topic in Virtual Reality
I haven used either yet.. I just got my Quest 2 a couple weeks ago and have been using the Oculus Debug Tool. Maybe I will try one of the others. -
Sounds good!

LOL. That video is from another sim which in my opinion has more realistic modeling of the p51's guns. I have both it and DCS. I have said before on this forum that the DCS P51's 50 cals are too weak as compared to the way they were in real life as evidenced by gun camera footage. But Im certainly no expert and others have agreed and disagreed.

I hear the same noise when I do the startup training mission for the Anton. When the canopy is closed, I no longer hear it.

Oh I read the entire background story before I even started flying, it was so mesmerizing. I felt for the pilot and his family. You should write a novel. Beware, Beware is definitely on my list.

Reflected, I am in the midst of playing this incredibly good Jagdflieger campaign. I have flown your Huey and p51 campaigns and must say when I got near the end, I was sad there were not more missions! I'm only on mission 5 now and I'm already despondent that there are only 7 more missions left. I'm having a great time and have learned alot about the bf-109. Gonna do your Spitfire and p47 campaigns next and set myself up for more sadness Do you plan on making any more p51, bf109 and huey campaigns?

Surprise Hellcat module?? I certainly hope so!!!

I've been THOROUGHLY enjoying this campaign. It is VERY immersive and engaging. I think this campaign will be thought of as a classic in flight sims. And that is the first time I have ever used that term in connection with a campaign in 27 years of heavy sim gaming!

I don't care which p38 DCS models or what theatre, I just want the plane!!!

Well this explains why I couldnt keep up with the AI in the Blue Nose campaign. Thanks. Will be starting this Wolfpack campaign soon after spending some quality time learning the jug. Have to learn to trim, trim, trim in the campaign.

enemy fighters AI difficulty
MADLOU1 replied to algherghezghez's topic in P-51D: The Blue Nosed Bastards of Bodney Campaign
Maybe its just better to run away when the enemy shows up LOL. On a more serious and unrelated note, when is your great new Huey campaign going to be released? Are you gonna do one for the Apache? (Please say yes!) Are you going to do one for the MIG 15b? Maybe the Soviet side of your F-86 campaign? (Please say yes!) -
Is there some kind of demo or try-out day for helicopters?
MADLOU1 replied to JetCat's topic in DCS: AH-64D
But what about VR? Does having VR make flying helos easier or make you a better helo pilot? Im on the fence about VR, hearing both pros and cons about it. -
OK you DCS geniuses, what is your best guess as to when the Early Release version of this much anticipated module is going to be released? Do you think the Steam announcement that December 1 is accurate? And ED I know that your official stance is that it will probably be released sometime at the end of this year. I just want to hear from the very smart people on this forum as to what they think.

I want it!
