What sort of quirks? I'm at work and have not been able to fly it out. Looks like a lot of ground looping has been taking place judging from the photos of a # of them lying on their tops :lol:

Definite must buy for me as it's always been one of my favorite civilian aircraft. Hard to believe the amount of negative comments that have been posted over the last few days.

ditto... Vista with all of the "stuff" off works fine for me as well. Is Win 10 free for Vista users as well? I was thinking it was free for the Win 7/8 people only.

That's good to hear! Thanks. I'm going to try again tonight, I think I was having an "off" night last night after downloading and installing. A computer restart was probably in order after being on all day and downloading but I was too tired to try LOL!

How is it performing under Vista as far as FPS, etc? I've also got Vista Ultimate with similar rig specs as yours and finally gave up last night after waiting what seemed like forever to load from the mission editor, realizing I hadn't set the mission up correctly and trying to exit which took another 5 minutes it seemed.

To each his own I guess, but personally I would prefer the FM to be as close to correct as possible? I seriously doubt an L-39 is going to feel "loose" compared to a single engine Cessna.

Thanks Don, I think I will see how well the card does with Vista, but definitely won't rule out upgrading to 7. I've got all of the "extras" in Vista deactivated (UAC, etc etc etc) so it might not hold the performance down too much ?? I decided to go with the 970 after reading all of the comments on here about how well it plays with DCS. Darrell

haha!! yes, it IS ancient, but was top of the line several years ago :lol::lol: Amazing how fast technology changes. I do have the 64 bit version of Vista and will roll with it to see how things go. That way, I can take the OS upgrade money and add more RAM as I'm currently at 6 GB. :D I'm looking forward to receiving the new card next week and will hopefully have time to get it installed before heading off for a weeks R&R at the beach. Can't wait to see how good everything looks after getting a decent card !! Darrell

I'm going to upgrade to a GTX 970 in order to fully enjoy DCS. My current OS is Vista. I downloaded the 1.5 beta and L-39 last night and it seems to work fine.... so far. Do I really need to upgrade to Windows 7 as a minimum, or will it work fine in Vista? I'm wondering if Vista will let me get the full use out of the GTX 970, or if there will be other issues down the road, game crashes, etc because I'm in Vista. My other system specs are, core i7 920 oc'd to 3.4 Ghz, and currently running a GTX 9800+ card. Darrell

Hi Blaster, I ordered the manual straight from TFC about a week and a half ago and received it today (I'm in the US ) I haven't opened it yet but the packaging is in excellent shape and shows no signs of being kicked, tortured, crushed, etc :D It was shipped in cardboard packaging rather than the bags the first ones were shipped with. I finally gave in and ordered mine directly from TFC rather than waiting on US Customs and Amazon. With my luck mine will get held up in customs too... Darrell

For those that live in the United States you can order Tactical Pilotage Charts from sportys.com, click on the pilot shop entrance and then charts. Another option comes up, click on "world charts". The charts to order for the Black Shark/Lomac area are TPC F-3B, F-4A, F-4D $23.95 usd for all 3 charts, but they're 1:500,000 scale. I ordered a set to have since they can be used for Lomac now and then Black Shark once it's available . Darrell

After a LOT of lurking I guess it's finally time to register and become a part of the DCS:BS community. Hopefully the English manual will be available soon so I can start learning about the Ka-50. Does anyone know of ED is planning on releasing a map of the area/terrain in Blackshark, similar to what was in Longbow 2 or Falcon 4? It would be totally cool if they did, preferably with topographic features, etc since a lot of helicopter tactics depend on "nap of earth" flying. Darrell
