  1. Hopefully I'm just missing something here, which is typical of my DCS career, but I can't find the new Iorn Flag A10C II training campaign listed on the ED campaign page??? This is not a day one purchase, this is an hour one purchase. And BTW THANK YOU for doing this for all us weekend part time Warthog jocks. MUCH appreciated!
  2. I had an outdated version of OB 2.5.6. Module purchase would not show up upon login. Ran OB updater from bin folder in explorer, and there she be for downloading. Been waiting for this for a VERY long time. First days of school. Folded more aluminum in the last two days than the last two decades combined.
  3. I have been awaiting this day for a VERY long time. It's the first day of school.
  4. I lived in a small Alaskan community for over 30 years. You could always tell when February had arrived (besides it being -30 outside) by reading the editorial pages of the local newspaper. People get a bit “snarky” about then. Cabin fever is indeed a reality. There are A LOT of armchair pilots here that have been “holed up” way too long…. Hit the off button. Go outside, get some fresh air. Spend some quality time with people you love and tell them why they are important to you. I sit in my “pit seat” with my F18C and all the high tech toys (TM WH, TrackIR etc.) surrounding the seat with my headset on and crash after crash after crash…. Get up, dust myself off and hit “replay”. Again and again. I have a notepad next to my HOTAS filled with “X’s”, one for each hour of hi tech burning balls of fire. There are times while learning to fly and learn the F18 I truly am awe struck by the breathtaking technology I’m using and am simply in XXXXXXXX amazement. For the money I have given ED I have been repaid beyond measure for what I have been given entertainment wise in return. Value at the cutting edge highest level. Simply unbelievable technology. Having said all that… I spent most of my life in mid management of a Fortune 500 company. Goodwill is something that once lost, is seldom, if ever, regained. Building breathtaking entertainment technology and maintaining customer loyalty and trust are two separate, and more importantly separately managed, tasks. You haven’t, but if ED were to ask me what to do if I were KING, I would tell them to get ALL senior management and owners in on the same conversation, for whatever time it takes, and lay out a detailed prioritized roadmap, in order, of what you’re going to release for the F18, and when, and why, in chronological order. If it were my sandbox I would suspend ALL work on other modern jets and focus on completing the F18 and the Supercarrier. Doing so will gain you goodwill beyond your expectations. You have a serious company image issue here and I believe you realize that by now. First the Supercarrier MP issue, now a pandemic caused priority EA definition undertasking issue. One of my favorite sayings: “Leaders Lead”. Cold, but true. Once you lay it out. STICK TO IT, come hell or high water. People are VERY forgiving if your honest, reasonable and transparent. You have an amazing product. I was going to close by making a passing comment generalizing the character of many of the posts in this thread, and yes I read them all, as being somewhat akin to over privileged snowflakes or something along those lines, but I will catch myself and not be so judgmental. There are some very SERIOUS issues in our society and the world today folks, and this is simply not one of them. My completely unsolicited opinion. Cheers.
  5. Thanks for posting this, exactly where I'm at with the same issue. No one mentions the use of the speedbrake as they make the break. Do you gentlemen raise the board into the break? Once at 250 IAS does the board go back down or do you let it stay extended? Thanks!
  6. Looks really great. A true labor of love by the looks of it. Time to just enjoy it!
  7. Deleting the inputs folder and running repair (after learning how to do it from the command line) seems to have done the trick. Took some time but I believe I have a good jet. Still lots of issues to work through with TrackIR and a few other things. At the start of most training missions that start in the air, the jet starts rolling violently as soon as I press the Fly Now button. I can recover, takes a bit. major PITA. Any suggestions? For the most part I can continue my training.
  8. Gentlemen... Thank you. I REALLY appreciate the direction. I'll giverago!
  9. Setting up a new computer. I copied all my DCS OB folder onto the new machine, went through the digital keys to get all the modules back and I appear to have a good transfer. Since I have an empty folder in the new computers Saved Games folder, I simply copied my old folder onto the new machine. I have a TM HOTAS and Throttle, Crosswind rudder pedals and two Cougar MFD button boxes that were all set up and running fine when I tore down the old computer. I’m running into issues getting my controls to work. When I look into the saved games, dcsopenbeta, config, input, A10C I saw two lua files for all devices. I deleted the new ones, yet the program fills all kind of crazy inputs into various devices and I cannot seem to get control of it. Is there a way, since all the TM stuff is suppose to work “out of the box” with the A10C to reset everything to defaults and start from scratch. I press the default button on the controls and it leaves all the mis placed controls in place. Thanks!
  10. I'm upgrading my DCS computer and am looking to add a mouse with a number pad on the side. I have a Corsair IQue on my old system that has WAY too small keys for my size hands. I'm looking a the Reddraggon M908 and the Utechsmart Gaming mouse. Thinking of using programming the numbers for radio comms by programing the number keys for # Functions. I don't have much gaming or multiplayer experience. I might be using Simple Radio also. Does this idea make sense and does anyone have any experience and a recommendation for a gaming mouse with larger number buttons?

    F14 or A10

The A10C also has a very polished manual, dozens of top of the line tutorial videos, dozens of friendly experienced pilots that can help you with just about anything with the aircraft. I went through the same back and forth numerous times with the A10C and the Hornet. I almost posted a thread entitled "Would Someone Please Make Up My Mind!". If you're going for the long game, I would suggest popping the small fruit with the A10C. By the time you have some logged experience, the F14 will be a bit more polished. It's not going away.
  12. Thank you for taking the time to answer in such detail. It is truly appreciated. Your well spoken thoughts confirm my thinking and make me more comfortable with my decision to fall down the A10C rabbit hole over the F18C's. I truly went back and forth and back and forth again and back and forth yet again the past few months. I did my RL solo in May of 1990 at PAJN. Lived near there most my life. Owned a Stinson 108 Voyager taildragger for a bit then a small Cessna. Have not flown a real aircraft in over 15 years. To give you an idea of my spending time with one aircraft flightsimming, I have over 2K hours logged flying the DC3 with DC3 Airways. Great bunch of guys. Thanks again for your thoughtful response. I may PM you and draw on your experience if I can’t get through something by RTFM if that’s OK. Hansangb... Thanks! I do have those resources set aside. Need to learn to fly before blowing stuff up! I also want to set up the 476th NTTR range. It's on the short list.
  13. The A10C manual is almost 700 pages. I've thought of making hard copy of the most useful "hands on" sections. A small fortune to have it printed in color locally. I can print single sided and throw them in a binder, but again, that's alot of pages. I have a Surface I can view the PDF from, but I dislike jumping around the pages and the print is too small on the Surface for my old eyes. I also don't like having to go hands on to move around yet another screen. I know it's a personal decision, but what have you found useful and what did you do that you regreted? Single sided? Double sided? Color or B&W? I'm getting ready for a long cozy up to the A10C manual. Would appreciate hearing from other pilots what worked, and did not work, for them. Thanks!
  14. Thank You! for taking a moment to respond. Very helpful! I experienced some of the frustrations of being new to DCS and A10C at the same time and having to chase through forums to utilize the Maple Flag training missions. They did an excellent job, and I'm sure I'm going back to them. Much of the issues were simply out of their control and they can only pay so much attention to looking backwards if they want to keep the doors open. And... there is plenty of A10C support around here if needed, which is great! After going back and forth for months trying to decide what rabbit hole to fall into first, the Hawg or the Hornet, I'm going for resume my study of the Hawg. I just know from other learning path experiences that whatever you "cut your teeth on" tends to influence, often to a great degree, your path going forward. I'll get around to carrier ops at some point. The Hawg manual is so well laid out and so full of useful info that crosses over to all DCS modules, it just seems the smart way to go.
  15. I had a very difficult time for awhile in my close in formation flying with the A10C. My squadron trainer came to realize something was very wrong with my ability to trim. Turned out my Crosswind rudder petals were in need of a decent calibration. I was flying with a slightly deflected rudder and trying to maintain smooth trim in formation flying became a chore. Got it all sorted out and it was like flying a different aircraft. Don't know your rudder situation, but thought I would mention it.
  16. I know eyes are probably going to roll over this real NOOB question, but after spending considerable time reading through forums and looking through Youtube, I'm still unsure of the direct answer, so please forgive my ignorance. If I decide to fall down the F18C rabbit hole and purchase a TM F18C stick, will I be able to set my F18C Control bindings back to default, use Chucks or Redkite's throttle bindings and leave the stick as is and just bind the throttle? I guess I'm asking will I experience the same ease of use that the A10C has with the TM Hog stick. It's all pre mapped. I also have two TM Cougars, (3 actually) and understand that MFCD 1 and 2 buttons will, by default, pre mapped, but I will have to work on #3. Thanks!!!! Appreciate the community putting up with a clueless old man trying to have some fun.
  17. I have been reading with great interest the opinions of veteran Hog drivers of the new cockpit and the reading of the tea leaves of what is coming down the road for the A10C. I have been seriously waffling back and forth between continuing with the A10C or turning my attention to the F18C and carrier ops. Given I'm beginning to realsize becoming proficient with either is going to take years, I'm finding it a decision I am truly having a very hard time making. Over the past two years I have accumulated all the A10C content from DCS with the intent to learn and enjoy it after I retire from a very demanding career this year. Got it all when the sales came by and it is just sitting there awaiting my attention. Given all the discussions from both DCS and the community about all the changes coming to the A10C, which is GREAT news, will that already acquired content all work without endless forum research going forward? The expected answers will go a good way to helping me make up my mind. Which I will do at some point, eventually, maybe... I never thought I would be so undecided and waffling back and forth over something like this. Something is telling me it is a very important decision going forward. Thanks!!
  18. I’m in the process of upgrading my flightsim rig pre retirement this year. Some guys buy high end golf clubs, I’m buying a nice high end flightsim rig. The new rig will sport an 11GB RTX 2080 Ti. My current monitor is a BennQ 3200U, 3840x2160, 60hz freesync monitor. I have an opportunity to recoop a good deal of the cost to a friend who does graphic design work. He would buy it. If I do so, I would of course still have to rub my neck and write a check for the difference for a new monitor with higher refresh rates. I’m spending considerable time learning DCS modules, specifically the C-101EB and the A10C. I own many more, but those were purchases for the future and to support DCS and 3rd party developers. So many awesome modules, so little time. There is a high degree of likelihood I will do some WW2 warbird flying, but it will be down the road. So….I’m looking for informed opinions about whether or not I would see enough of a visible difference in eye candy and most important, the ability to more clearly see other aircraft in the air if I were to sell the BenQ and buy another monitor with higher refresh rates. Would most likely stay with the same screen size. And… I’m 100% blind in my left eye and my good eye is 65 years old and getting weaker as the months roll by. Without good glasses it just ain’t happening anymore. (Enjoy your youth!) Thanks for any thoughts. I appreciate them.
  19. +1 Thank You Sir! I look forward to going through ALL your playlists. Subscribed.
  20. After a few hours of trial and error, the only way I can get my TrackIR to work is to first load it as admin, make sure it is responsive then load DCS and it will load and work. No other order of events will get a working system. I cannot get TrackIR to load with DCS and work.
  21. Started up DCS this morning to find TrackIR completely unresponsive in game. Track IR starts when I start DCS OB 2.5. My profile is loaded fine. I have one green LED as per usual. However when I load any scenario, mission no second LED, no track IR. It gets weirder. If I back out and look through the options menu, I can see a category for Track IR. However, not a single aircraft has an entry when I look under the Track IR column. All blank. Every aircraft. When I’m on the ramp and press escape and review Adjust Controls for every aircraft and mission, nothing. Track IR column empty. I have also discovered, related or not, that my A10C UFC unit now has multiple entries for HOTAS POV1 for 360 views, across every aircraft. Any thoughts? I did turn off Track IR autoload and started manually to made sure Track IR was running under admin mode. Track IR itself is running just fine. It simply will not communicate at all with DCS. Thanks! Edit: when I go into TrackIR and change views to camera and back through the various views, Track IR connects to DCS and runs fine. Unless I bring up the Track IR control panel and go though view changes, I cannot get Track IR to connect to DCS.
  22. I waffled about a bit on which aircraft to use for Phase 1. Going with the C-101EB. Spending time getting it airworthy. Also setting up the suggested spawn sites and flights Delta Mike suggested. I have about 40 hours in the A10c and another 10 or so in the F18C. Time to do this right. A different feel flying the C-101EB without the MFD to see your position. Learning to use the F10 map and Tacan to find my way around. Starting to do some basic turns about a point, level changes, working toward to short trip south and back. Each time I take it up it smooths out just a bit more. I have two Cougar MFD's and am programming them for snap and map view. It will take some time but will be worth it once done. P.S. Your location sounds like a nice place.
  23. Excellent! Thank you DM. Will provide some direction and motivation. For anyone else downloading and setting up, Gass Pass is between PA62 and PA63 just northwest of Nellis. Could not find it labeled on the NTTR map. Quick Google search found it.
  24. Thank you both for the suggestions. I will take them! One more small inquiry if I may. If I want to become familiar with the Cadet 0,1,2,3 training grounds on regular basis as I become familiar with the MP world, where should I set my ME up to do pattern, navigation and other familiarization work on the NTTR map with the C-101EB? I have read through all the syllabus materials on the Academy Discord site. I can see some of the check ride routes there. I also see the Tuesday Night NOOB server from Hoggit. Is this worth exploring also? Edit: A little looking around and I see the Georgia at War Training server is the Tuesday Night NOOB. Guess I'll start there. I really am out in the weeds here. It must look pretty uninformed! I'll get there. Thanks!
