  1. Thanks, I tried with an Abrams but same issue so it's Normandy - I hope they sort it as I love ground warfare games.
  2. OK, I've read the manual and still not working properly. I have a simple Tiger 1 versus 1 Sherman mission in Carpaquet. I set up as the game master and start mission. If I don't click on the tank and quickly go alt + J it starts firing automatically and all I can do is drive it. If I do get into it then I can drive it, sometimes move the turret, get binocular view and fire main gun ONLY with space bar, but can't aim, I get no information on reloading either - the markings in binocular view are black and it doesn't turn the turret and gun just the view. The mouse moves my view around in binocular view, I've tried pressing Q and E but no changes are visible. The sherman fires at me and I can only fire where the gun points - sometimes (I expected that though!) Now I can't move the turret and can't fire. I've checked the controls and they say left mouse or space bar fires = nothing, arrow keys turn turret = nothing. All I can do is drive the thing until the Sherman eventually hits a weak spot. I've tried changing from driver (Ctrl+C) to gunner but no joy. I've found and followed the manual but when it says change weapons using E nothing happens. It's so user unfriendly! Also it crashes a lot! my PC is powerful and I have no problems flying planes in DCS at full high settings. Driving me mad! I really wanted to shoot a few tanks up but alas no. Any tips please?
  3. Thanks for all the guidance, I've got it now! Lovely to see 48 bombs streaming down to target from a tight group. Things I found that worked: Number 1: Work on only 1 bomber first Set a long run in so that the bombers can formate (a real word???) All waypoints are "turning" Remember to make the altitudes consistent & speed 210Kts Set Adv wpt1 #1 as formation "WW2: Bomber element" & "Close" Set Adv wpt1 #2 as Bomb run: Set advanced wpt @ "ww11 carpet bombing"; "Bombs"; "All"; pattern 1500 or your choice. (always check pattern as it changes every time you review the bombing waypoint use "Bombs", some suggest Iron bombs but my regular bombs work fine. Build your group of 4 Save and run. Mine start out at waypoint 0 in a loose line abreast but at waypt 1 start to form a tight diamond shape - it takes about 3 to 4 minutes to form a tight diamond (lovely to watch from F2 view), then at target the lead opens his doors (only the lead) and they all bomb. Then when the Flak 88s start shooting the lead gets it and the others dive and run for waypt 2. I have to set the flak at "Average" or they easily take out 3 B17s of 4. Have fun!
  4. I've tried again and only the lead bomber bombs :( The formation, although set to close is rubbish wide. I do see a bit of bobbing up and down so I need more run in and turning points at same altitude I'd love a step by step for a formation of 4 but found the youtube video that was suggested and a bit confusing - he also had problems with formation but at least all his bombers bombed!
  5. Thanks cthulhu68, Will try that tomorrow when back on the PC.
  6. Hi, When I right click on my hardpoint 1 column nothing happens! no dropdown, nothing. I've tried right clicking everywhere but nothing other than the row with "Empty" on the left of it on it goes dark grey... so I'm going nowhere with no bombs! all it does is fly over the target... Also you add (normal) waypoint 1 then click on advanced waypoint = a blue line with arrow head off at an acute angle from waypoint 1, then drag the arrowhead the start of the bomb site then adjust all the numbers e.g. spread (I assume that's around the arrowhead) and "wwII carpet bobmbing etc - then add a normal waypoint in a line after the bombing one? Adding the others after to fly home again?
  7. Art J many thanks! finally got there, a lovely (albeit out of date 1941) colour scheme. I opened the .lua in notepad and saw at the bottom "GER", "USA" and "SUI". So I added Germany to my Axis team and voila! Brill, thanks!
  8. Well, it's got me beaten, I have put the skin directly in the game file directory in my dcs.openalpha alongside all the others and it is not offered in payload choices or Alt+' The dds and lua files are there with the JG27s etc with exactly the right spelling but no success. I even set up an OvGME to enable with the full directory DCS World 2 Openalpha\Bazar\Liveries\Bf-109K-4\Bf-109k-4_DIF_JG 26 Sprick_1941 Dirty which had the 3 x dds and the lua file. It looks just like your attachment Art-J
  9. Hi Art-J, it's actually from DCS itself, I love the look of the red one. https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/1193261/
  10. Hi Art-J I'd love to but I don't know how to attach a screenshot (DOH!)
  11. Thanks Art-J, I added a couple into the /bazar/liveries etc as per your directory tree and prefixed them Bf-109 K4 but they don't appear. Annoyingly the other ones are in that directory and show in mission editor but mine don't. :(
  12. Looking forward to CA in normandy, lovely vehicles to play with, any news of a release?
  13. Hi all, Now I don't need to use the prop pitch, or ball, I can take off every time and am not all over the place when the wheels go up either. Still want pedals though.
  14. Thanks Art-J for looking at this while at work, in the meantime please get back to your real job, later is fine for me. And I've got acess to the alternative skins using Alt + ' - thanks.
  15. The one that started it was K4_HellhoundV2.7z - it has the full tree The ones I really like are in Bf-109K-4_Jg_26_Summer_1944.rar Especially the totally yellow cowling ones but these seem to be just the very end of the tree in .dss and .lua files although it's not beyond me to add them to the right tree. I now have the English cockpit, DB noise, tracers and louder guns working in the main game tree, noting that DCS has to be totally closed before enabling then opening dcs. I am very new to this so would not having saved any games be an issue? I have yet to find out how to start a ca mpaign and save any games as there are none for me to choose from in the campaigns menu item. I notice there are loads of skins in the main game in bazar/liveries/BF-109 K4/ how do I choose them?
  16. Thank you, I have found the saved games folder but there is no tree starting /mods/aircraft/aircraft name/liveries Also do all mods OTHER than skins stay in the main game directory? in my case C:/program files/DCSworld 2 Open alpha/_MODS/ If I did make the tree in the saved games directory, how does OvGME (now got it downloaded) handle going to the main directory _MODS for some mods and the other directory for skins? Is that 2 targets? Skatezilla's description looks very daunting to me...
  17. hi, I am new to dcs so please forgive as I could find any "mods not working" threads. Having found the mods world I loved it and downloaded jsGME because my Trend micro security blocks OvGME !!! then I downloaded mods, then fixed my double folder issue! and got the tracer mod and English cockpit mod (more a test than anything) and DB engine mod all seem to work fine but every skin I try doesn't! I started with Hellhound V2 as it had the full file tree and moved it across with the others in jsgme but no skin change. I've tried others also to no avail. Some have only the dss and lua files so I don't know how to get them on a file tree as I am sure they won't work straight off the _MODS directory I've created. I've followed the tutorials and jsgme is pointing the the right place in dcs 2.0 alpha (-MODS) Can anyone please help as I am not sure why skins aren't working
  18. I'm not great with computers but would love to get these new sounds. Is there a (dummies) step by step guide on where and how to get these into the right places to make them work?
  19. With all the help here I'm getting better. Oddly I can land 95% of the time now without damage - I seem to come in at very low ata but it's the only way I can keep the kph down. On the 2 instances out of 11-12 I hit the trees just short of the runway! Otherwise I often end up on the grass but stay on my legs. I even took off, landed and took off again! Take offs are up at 80% with no wing damage, still very wobbly just after take-off- very tetchy this 109K. Thanks again all Not at 100% guaranteed but wait till I get some pedals...
  20. I've had a few bad goes today. Rough before the smooth I think. Trying too hard maybe. At first still too much stick back, nose lifting too much, lifting off the ground too early and stalling. I learnt a lot from view f4 as to what the tail was doing. I don't actually use the control ball etc, maybe I should... I am hitting 1.4 ata, so will trim that back. I'm certainly getting straighter on the runway and have hardly dragged a wing, I'm getting use to the rudder more and must let it take off by itself! take offs 60% success and feeling that will rise tomorrow. I even landed 4 times and crashed twice. Only one landing was damage free, but the others I walked away - from very bouncy ones.:D
  21. Thanks a bundle! to all, I can't list the helpers here. Found the RPM inc/Dec and now working! (of course must remember in all the hectic stuff just after takeoff that the switch needs to be put back on auto:music_whistling:) I appreciate that's only one small thing but it helps and I am focussing on getting the crate up. I am now up to 50% success rate. Still too high an AOA and lifts off too early - must push the stick back forward earlier. The full Rt rudder really helps Need to practice the stick positions Much better runway tracking now The wings seem to stay mostly level with the stick Going to try and get some practice today - I'll keep a full team of mechanics and scrap merchants busy. I'll report progress later. I know the next issue will be landing but there seem to be a good number of threads and youtube videos. Certainly the best flight sim for me and I've tried a few - back to when all we got was the upper half of the screen blue, the lower green and a grid of dots and a few rectangles or pyramids on the ground to represent trees, buildings and hills to give us a 'sense' of movement. DCS 2 is great - can't wait to see those B-17s up close. Meanwhile back to my research :book:
  22. I read in one of my many books that 10% of wartime crashes were on the ground increasing in latter years as younger pilots had to be draughted. It feels like a good flight model
  23. Mmmm, I normally do but in the last few attempts this evening after sorting take off assistance and auto rudder I have forgotten to trim the nose (1 or 2?) DOH! I definitely have over-rotated, the climb is too strong and the wing drops and down I go - usually upside down.
  24. Hi, I have game and avionics not checked and flight model is 109K real. Still having serious issues taking off, even with take off assistance and auto rudder, I tend seem to lift off and then swerve over to left/ drop wing severely and stall. 1 in 10 take offs over the grass if I'm lucky.
