This was it! I simply unplugged an MFD and launched the game and it loaded just fine with TrackIR working. It sucks that I am down an MFD, but it's the peripheral I could most afford to lose. I hope they get this bug fixed soon! In the mean time, thank you Flappie for your help with this and so many other issues other people have!

Thank you! I will try it. It’s weird though. I have not added any peripheral, and have been fine for years. Should I unplug one? Like an mfd or something?

Thank you. I have attached the log. dcs.log

I am at my wit's end. I recently (last update) found my gamer (openbeta) will not load. I couldn't figure out why until I accidentally tried to launch the game before I opened TrackIR and it worked. Since then, I have 100% repeatability in loading WITHOUT TrackIR and 100% failure to load WITH TrackIR running. If I start the game and load TrackIR while in game, the game goes to a black screen and locks up. I am running both TrackIR and DCS as an admin and have fully removed and reinstalled both multiple times. Nothing I do seems to change this. Is ANYone else experiencing this? If so, is there a fix or workaround? I literally am never going to play this game without TrackIR, so if this can't work, then every module I have is useless.

That's not accurate. The P-38 was used in all theaters. One of our family friends was actually shot down in a p-38 over Germany.

I hope this is the right place to put this. I have recently wiped DCS and started with a fresh install on a different SSD. Strangely, upon doing this I have discovered that the game will "hang" on the loading screen UNLESS I delete the MissionEditor file in Saved Games - at which point, it loads normally. Unfortunately, I have to do this every time I launch the game. Additionally, any and all settings I change in the "special" menu do not save, even without exiting the game. I have never run into a problem like this, and so far no repair or update has fixed it. I even deleted and started over again and am still getting the same thing. Any ideas?

Red Flag Rumble March - Mig-15 vs F-86
Whirlaway replied to 104th_Maverick's topic in Tournaments & Events
Showtime F-86 preference but I will switch to the MiG 15 if needed. -
I am REALLY close to purchasing this module, as I am fascinated with the plane, but I hear so many conflicting reports on the state of the module. I am curious, I currently fly Heatblur's F-14B almost exclusively, and find that module to be incredible, but am looking for a similarly fun full fidelity "knife fighter" compliment to the Tomcat's BVR baddassery. I am not expecting this to be to that level, but in it's current state is this a "must have" or a "check back later"?

Solved: New Computer, Horrible Performance
Whirlaway replied to StrongHarm's topic in Game Performance Bugs
WOW...thank you so much for this. I have been pulling my hair out trying to figure out why my performance in DCS is SO bad compared to everything else. I now have a good idea why! -
Basic Brevity Words and Radio Calls to know

Not gonna lie, this one video caused me to read the first three Jake Grafton books (Starting with Flight of the Intruder...which is SO much better than the movie). I am eagerly awaiting the Iron Tadpole.

No matter how I set my settings, as soon as I see water, the entire map then becomes covered in water...so that the land is mostly invisible. I cannot figure out why this would happen. I have uninstalled and reinstalled too many times to count. I am running an i9 7900x, 1080ti, 32 gig ddr4 on an optane SSD. I am never launching into a mission without the entire map first rendering on the mission generator screen. Has anyone else had this happen?
