  1. Same thing here, and TWS-A steers the radar cone away from the actual track most of the time.
  2. Can you already tell if notch resistance is going to improve with the new API ?
  3. My understanding is that you can't switch to TWS-M while guiding a Phoenix until it goes active. However, since the correct missile behavior isn't correctly implemented, my guess is that we are stuck in TWS-A far longer than we should. Hopefully, a dev or SME can confirm that.
  4. Most of the time when I crank after missile launch, the AWG-9 loses the current track and quickly creates a new one for the same target, and the same happens if the target starts maneuvring/changing direction. So if the AWG-9 can't correlate them, it's going to be very difficult to hit anything :noexpression: For example, I launch a phoenix on a target flanking right, but while the missile is in the air before 16s TTI, the target makes a sharp turn and is now flanking left. If I understand, with a quick change in direction, the AWG-9 will switch to track hold on the old track flanking right, and create a new track flanking left. In that case, if it can't correlate the 2 tracks, I guess the missile is lost with a simple turn ?
  5. Are you using PD-STT or P-STT ? In PD-STT, the bandit can break lock fairly easily by notching (MLC) or going cold (ZDF), but not in P-STT
  6. Cross control means that you put the stick opposite to the rudder. For example if you want to turn to the right at high alpha, you put left stick and right rudder.
  7. So in the context of DCS, if jamming was properly modeled, not even the 54C could be used against the most modern fighters like the F/A-18C or the F-16 ?
  8. Are we really going to start the whole "the Phoenix wasn't designed to engage fighters" discussion all over again ? :D Btw, do you have any documentation on the performance of the phoenix with its latest upgrades against 20xx era jammers ? I'm always happy to learn :)
  9. I'm not sure if I understand your post correctly. If you are firing an AIM-54 in P-STT, the missile is supposed to be active off the rail (when the new API is implemented), so the target won't be able to notch your radar, but will still be able to notch the missile itself. But I agree with you on the fact that the Phoenix is pretty easy to evade atm. Regarding the new changes on the AIM-120, I feel like it's a lot less sensitive to notching and countermeasures, so hopefully the new Phoenix will be the same in the future.

    F-15E UFC poll

    Modern for me :)
  11. I'm also curious to know. To me it feels like it's a lot less than 150Nm but more like 50 Nm most of the time :)
  12. Not sure if it's possible, but that would be great. Or in 2 weeks ? :D
  13. Is it just me, or the Tomcat feels easier to trim after the update ? Spotted this line in the changelog : "Adjusted default starting pitch trim"
  14. Hey guys, After a Phoenix launch, the Jester menu makes certain options unavailable such as Scan Elevation, Scan Azimuth etc. That's probably because we are supposed to be stuck in TWS-A after a PHX launch, but until when ? When the missile goes pitbull, at time out or as long as the missile is in the air ? I couldn't find that info in the manual so if anybody has it, please feel free to share :D The only way I found to go back to the normal menu is to select RWS after 16 sec TTI.
  15. That's probably the source of a lot frustration. I agree that there are a functionalities missing like IFF, P-STT locking, hooking, or prioritizing the correct TWS target, but apart from that he generally does a decent job.
  16. It'd be nice to know how ineffective the phoenix would be indeed. But they are already quite easy to notch when being shot from quite far away, and a pilot who knows what he's doing won't expect it to hit :) However I agree that people shouldn't be able to split S right after the shot at 50 Nm with the missile still tracking...
  17. Oh yeah, I didn't think about that ! Thank you  Absolutely ! I find DL on the 14 to not be very consistent and it looks like I'm not the only one. So either it's something normal and I'm more than happy to learn something new, or it's a bug and in that case HB shoud be made aware of it :)
  18. Any update on this guys ? I am experiencing the same thing. It happens quite frequently that AWACS calls out targets at 60-70Nm, 20K feet and nothing on DL. (multiplayer)
  19. You cannot guide an AIM-54 in P-STT, but it will be active off the rail along sensor LoS right ? So when the missile gets fully implemented, I am curious to know what's the max range we can fire it and make sure the missile tracks the target (no other targets around). I guess around 15Nm ?

    AIM 54

That's great news ! Once fixed we'll hopefully see an increased PK against the AI at greater ranges since I find the AIM-120 a lot more effective atm.

    AIM 54

Hey IronMike, what do you think about chaff efficiency on the Phoenix atm ?
  22. Also, it looks like datalink is not working as it should. In MP, I have friendlies on DL marked as bandits and I also have bandits not showing at all (no terrain and not notching the AWACS). Anybody else ?
