  1. That may be the case but I've done hundreds of those quick starts and only noticed this behavior recently. If it has been "corrected" then that's a good thing of course.
  2. Load up any of the quick start landings and pull power to idle. You should be entirely neutral in trim yet very gradually roll to the right. Whether it's accurate or not this didn't used to be the case. This is the only situation I've really noticed it as it's quite subtle.
  3. Hey all, As a massive spitfire enthusiast who doesn't have a lot of time on his hands, I do an awful lot of quickstart missions with the spit. I've noticed just now that my spit has a tendency to want to roll right a little with completely neutral trim and engine at idle. It's pretty off putting as I'm used to that massive pull to the left due to engine torque. But for the first time ever I'm actually having to trim the rudder left when gliding to the runway. I've got the control grid up and all looks normal with my inputs. Anyone else able to confirm or deny?
  4. Thanks Bunyap! Best 10 bucks I ever spent!
  5. For people asking about how to dilute the oil. Check page 32 of Chuck's guide. http://https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-uSpZROuEd3RmVCamxfZDNaOVk/view
  6. Awesome! Just finished my 3rd play through this evening. Not bad for 10 bucks.
  7. No. The missions themselves haven't changed and of course were made pre bombs/tanks. It's just the numerous updates to effects and assets really make it a whole new experience. I forgot to mention the clouds look much better now. I hope they do decide to release a new spit campaign. Something cross-channel utilizing the fuel tanks. I'm hopeless with the bombs though. Tragically inaccurate.
  8. Just thought I'd let people with the Operation Epsom campaign who may have played it a while ago know that it's a good time to fire it up again. There are so many new explosion effects, flak puffs, buildings etc that it is like a whole new experience. I just played mission 11 last night and it was absolutely crazy. You can see the front with the huge smoke plumes. There are still some bugs i.e enfield 22 and 23 were glitchy and got stuck taxiing. They eventually took off and rejoined. I won't spoil the latter parts of the mission.
  9. No worries toby. I must admit, I have no idea about any of the compass being expected to glow and therefore be functional at night. I've never really even dabbled with the spit at night, the closest I've gotten is when a multiplayer server first goes up at dawn and I need the left and right flood to start the engine etc. I really need that sun to anything worthwhile though to be honest.
  10. toby have you read the manual? This version of the spit has the P.8.M, quoting from the manual: "Under the glass is the lubber line - a thin wire..." Exactly as Vino posted, that thin wire IS the lubber line. Also refer to Chuck's guide.
  11. Any idea how we might be able to see it in Australia anyone?
  12. After having a proper experiment, I really like it. You can still cook the merlin, but you have to be very aggressive both with throttle and a low airspeed (i.e going vertical). I imagine that is more realistic. It's nice not having to glance to your right every few seconds in a dogfight.
  13. Hey all, Love all the new updates to the spit. But I've always flown it a lot and was used to having to keep an eye on the oil/coolant temps while dogfighting. Is it me or is the coolant temp much less of an issue now? I seem to be able to just crank the engine without it getting that high. Anyone else have thoughts?
  14. And it's here! Update 95% complete! Bombs away lads!
  15. I haven't seen anything announced, but it's definitely 1000x better on the beta. I just did the Normandy dogfight quick mission and got both bandits quite quickly which I'd never done before. My rounds seemed to seize their engines after a bit. Very cool! I think Philstyle covered it nicely here
  16. I experienced the crazy tailwheel. It visibly bounced like crazy and also you could see yourself bouncing around vertically while in the cockpit. I've played a fair bit of spitfire since they fixed it and it's been perfect while taxiing/landing. Though, as you say, it is apparently purely a graphical quirk and I've had my head in the cockpit generally.
  17. I think it's fair to say it's been a long wait. But it's great to see the finishing touches on the spit are just around the corner. The new assets, improvements to the Normandy map, and tactical implications of having bombs and tanks make me very excited about the news that additional campaigns are being worked on. Even though I'm gradually learning the F18 and have a lot of fun in the harrier, this is still my favorite module simply to enjoy flying. I'm pretty sure I won't be able to hit a large paddock with the bombs but I'm excited to try.
  18. This is also my preferred approach. You simply scroll the lever fully to the right and it will stay there unless I then use my HOTAS button for the brakes. It's effectively a parking brake and I like to do it before start up unless I'm scrambling.
  19. Don't think so. Was perpendicular at one point though. I'll try again. I think I mustn't have been as close as I thought.
  20. Hey guys, Could be all in my head here. Just had a quick MP session in the beta and flicked to DM mode while staring right at my target for quite a long time. I'm sure it must have been well within 5nm as I could see them very clearly but it didn't want to seem to lock. Eventually I just fired my sidewinder anyway and it hit. Anyone else had any issues here?
  21. Thanks guys. At this stage I mainly use the dmt so I'll keep it on a hat switch for now. Really hope it gets implemented soon though as it's such a nice slew sensor and currently I'm only able to use the click action for this module.
  22. Hey guys, Sorry if this has already been asked many times over. There are so many threads it's hard to follow. Are the tdc axis bindings working yet in any version of dcs? I've currently got it bound to a hat but I'm dying to use the sexy slew on my twcs throttle. If not, is it coming soon?
  23. Thanks mate! Very helpful as always!
  24. Hi guys, Been enjoying 2.5 and have started a bit of caucasus dogfighting in the spitfire. When I get aggressive in the turn the wings snap off like they're made of glass. I know ed said they haven't changed anything. I've just been flying other planes for a while. Are there any good rules of thumb for avoiding wing failure?
