  1. You can't compare numbers across different benchmarks at all, especially 6 months apart. Different OS version, different game version, different settings, different RAM speeds, different cooling and clocks etc.
  2. Here is an excellent review from Digital Foundry: https://www.eurogamer.net/digitalfoundry-2022-intel-core-i9-13900k-core-i5-13600k-review?page=2 It shows the 13900K and 7900X blowing the 5800X3D out of the water in MSFS. 20-30% gains with the 13900K and 11-20% gains with the 7900X. Digital Foundry is the most reputable hardware tester out there. I think it is all about settings and test scenarios and even the Windows versions as the new H2 update messed up some of the newer AMD chips. Personally, I would pick the 7900X as the winner based on this review as it has the best 1% and 5% lows which is what matters the most for stutters. Although it might be a good idea to wait for the Windows bug to be fixed first or just get the 7700K which doesn't have the scheduling issues. The 13900K has higher average FPS but will have more stutters. Also, higher average is misleading because that is due to high 1% and 5% which are completely worthless for gameplay. So if you remove those outliers from the average, the AMD wins in the average too. The 5800X3D is just not in the same league which is what should be expected based on how cache works. Cache is only useful when there is a cache hit. If the 7000 X3D chips can retain the speeds of their base models while adding cache, they will win. But that might be tricky to achieve IMO.
  3. @Hoirtel Rumours are for three X3D SKUs this time around. I think it makes sense financially, but not sure if they can do it technically. Anyway, I am fine with whatever it ends up being: 7800X3D, 7900X3D, 7950X3D or all three. I too think option 3 is the most logical. I think AMD dropped the ball by not launching the X3D along with the rest of Zen4. That would have murdered Intel in gaming. But its probably just not ready yet.
  4. If you guys are giving CPU upgrade advice, I would like some too. I currently have a 3090 with a 10700K and I am waiting for my 4090 to arrive. I need to upgrade my CPU as the 10700K will def bottleneck in flight sims in VR. Option 1: 13900K with a nice mobo and nice DDR5 RAM (already ordered the RAM since it can be used in Option 3 as well, 6400 MHz CL 32) Option 2: 5800X3D with a cheap mobo and my current DDR4 RAM. Then ditch this whole setup in ~6 months when the 7950X3D arrives. Option 3: 7700X with a nice mobo and nice DDR5 RAM (already ordered the RAM). Then in ~6 months, sell the 7700X and pop in the 7950X3D. No budget constraints, but I would prefer to minimize wastage. Thoughts?
  5. I was almost ready to pull the trigger on the 13900K but then I saw the tomshardware review. While the 13900K is winning in some games, 5800x3d is still beating it in some others. The most important of them is MSFS!! And its beating it quite handily! Will we see something similar in DCS?? Because if so, the 7950x3d or whatever will definitely be even better.
  6. Hey MadDog, sorry for being a bother but it seems like mission 10 (War at Sea) has some issue where my bombers cant take out the US CV. Even if all my bombers and SEAD planes survive, they are unable to take out the CV. They manage to take out the cruiser only. All their missiles and the ship launched cruise missiles get taken down. BTW, I was a bit surprised to hear an Aussie accent coming from the Kuznetsov. Nice! ;p @VC, did you manage to complete this mission?
  7. Oh, ok. Thanks! I guess I was confusing SS and PD to be the same thing. I thought 200% SS = 2.0 PD. It seems they have a squared relationship then? 1.4^2 = 1.96 or about 2.0. So SS is the number of pixels as a percentage of base while and PD is then the fractional increase in each of the x and y resolutions.
  8. I am a little confused. I have a 1080Ti and run high settings, 2x MSAA with 200% SS in steam and I get around 11ms to 16ms in Caucasus which seems pretty good compared to what others here are getting. Although in Persian Gulf I can even cross the magic 22 ms barrier which is when I start noticing stuttering. Am I missing something here?
  9. I wish. I wold have bought at that price in a heartbeat. Its USD ~1050 here but I bought it anyway. Such is life in a welfare state. High taxes and all. Thanks to everyone for their inputs but I do have a quick question. I am just graduating from the FC3 aircraft to the full modules and just started the training session for the F-18. I really have to bend my neck to look at the switches on the left and right. How do you guys manage that? It seems to be similar in the Ka 50 as well. Like I literally have to hold push my head with my hand to see some of the switches behind me.
  10. Wow, you created that patch just today. Now that's fast. Thank you so much! I am able to hold my own against US fighters but all my AI allies just get wrecked. Yesterday in some other campaign mission the Russian AI lost 9 fighters and managed to down just 1 of 4 US F14s! AI spawns with random skill? I don't know why but I have the worst luck with these missions where I have to rely on allies. Solo missions are so much less headache. The K/D ratio is so bad for the Russians. I think I actually took some screenshots because it was so ridiculous.
  11. I see you have a Samsung Odyssey+ as well. Would you recommend the Vive Pro over the SO+? I hear they have the same screen and I can get SO+ for 300 dollars cheaper.
  12. I got it on the fourth attempt. You were right, for some reason I didn't activate some trigger on the earlier attempts.
  13. Yea, the Pimax reviews are really all over the place. Wired. As for the Gear VR lens mods, can that be done on the original vive? Might just give it a go although I am not sure where to get the lenses from. Edit: just realised the gear VR is like 80 dollars. I had no idea it was so cheap.
  14. In the second mission of the campaign (mission name is Restless Morning), you are to fly to an airbase and activate the ECM to trigger the enemy radar. But once I get there, there is no radar or SAM and nothing happens. I activate my ECM and nothing happens. Please help! I came across a campaign patch made by a nice gentleman by the name of MadDog-IC but it seems that is for version 1.57x. Will it work for 2.5 or break my saves? https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/2873763/
