  1. Thanks, I might have a word with a friend of mine. They know somebody with a 3D printer, if they're willing I could give some measurements and they might be able to rustle up something for me.
  2. I'm EXTREMELY disappointed by these changes to .lua files. I've been flying LOMAC/DCS since 2004 and have not ONCE come across anyone I would say is "cheating", nor have I ever encountered anyone online complaining about people cheating. If there are cheaters out there, they're in such a tiny tiny percentage as to be inconsequential. All this does is kill the modding scene, without which we wouldn't be able to enjoy the likes of the A-4 community mod etc. Really poor form, ED you really screwed up here.
  3. I've been looking at getting the A-10C UFC panel from Buddy Fox, the issue I have is that all the mounting solutions I've found are for the expensive desk mounting systems. I have my HOTAS just on the desk with the Cougar MFD panels. I'm wanting to place the UFC below my monitor, but it would be a bit awkward to have it just flat, so was hoping to find a stand of sorts, with a slight angle on it so its easier to use. If anyone knows of anywhere that makes such things I would appreciate it. Would finish off my desktop for my flight sim needs :).
  4. Afternoon folks, Just a quick question, is it possible to create steerpoints in the Viper by placing those little circles on the F10 map and entering S01 etc? It was a most welcome trick for the Viggen and was unsure if we're able to do such things in the Viper? It would save a lot of time entering in lat/long coordinates when I'm flying solo, akin to having the data cartridge pre-programmed. Cheers, Vogel
  5. If I may offer my opinion as a new owner of the Falcon also . It's true there are missing features, however I've been pleasently surprised with the module in my relatively short time with it. From what I've seen, the missing stuff is really rather deep into how professionals fly and plan missions etc. I'm talking here about some of the DED modes and functions being placeholders and some of the finer points with some avionics. In terms of an overall aircraft it starts up nicely, all the major systems appear to work correctly and I've been having an awful lot of fun flying it. I can highly recommend it as a purchase if you're looking for a land based multi-role fighter as opposed to naval. Flying her in the NTTR map in particular is great fun, setting up short sorties to learn various systems before heading home to Nellis. I must try out that Red Flag campaign too.
  6. I too have recently come back to DCS after an extended period enjoying WWII shenanigans in IL-2, a lot has changed with the Harrier but none of the documentation is anywhere near up to date. I can understand the frustrations of revising manual information after successive updates and modifications to aircraft systems, however Heatblur have an absolutely cracking F-14 manual online that I presume is updated whenever they make adjustments to aircraft systems modelling. Startup is fine, but I'm having a really hard time trying to learn the various TDC and sensor select button combinations for the MPCD/TPOD. I can fly the aircraft fine but now I have no idea how to employ guided munitions. YouTube videos are helpful, but there's nothing like having a hard manual to hand that you can refer to at your own pace, as and when you need it.
  7. I'm actually really excited to see Akrotiri in sim. I lived there for several years when my dad was stationed there, will be interesting flying around parts of Cyprus that I knew so well!
  8. Chief Instructor, I know it's been several years now but can't thank you enough for these three essays you've written. All the issues you've mentioned like ground looping after a nice three point landing, and the tendency for msot of use to input smooth rudder inputs (as if we're flying tricycle gear aircraft) are spot on the money. I wish I'd seen these posts earlier, as it would've saved me a lot of frustration and embarrassment from the number of loops I've done whilst taxiing and landing lol! Going to share this with some of the folks in my squadron who fly the WWII birds (in both DCS and IL-2), I think even some of the more experienced guys there would still learn a thing or two here!
  9. This was a lovely video and makes me feel a little better in the knowledge that it wasn't *just* me having issues in the DCS Spit! The thing was wobbling about like crazy even with the lightest of inputs. Going from jets to props is certainly a steep learning curve, many handling characteristics you simply never have to think about compared to jets. In my MiG I apply power, plane goes whoosh. In props it's all about the rudder and stick input and countering torque effects etc, far more intensive and I feel sorts the "men from the boys" as they say. I'm also getting an appreciation for engine management, what appeared to be an extremely simple aircraft is turning out to be anything but! As a matter of interest, how did other RAF fighters of the time handle by comparison? The Hurricane looks far more "balanced", did it have many handling quirks? I recall from my relatively limited reading on the aircraft the pilots adored it, especially for take off and landing with the wider gear arrangement.
  10. The Mi-8 is a great chopper. I much prefer flying her to the Huey, it's got more weight to it and thus feels more stable in flight. The UH-1 is a little too twitchy for my liking if I'm honest. Load up a full rack of S5K's and let hell fly!
  11. I didn't notice it for absolutely years. It's quite a minor angle but once you notice it you can never "un-see" it. A clever engineering solution for high speed flight handling.
  12. The MiG-23 is one of my all time favourite aircraft. It's a gorgeous design, you have good taste xD. The thing that always stuck out for me with the hind, was how it's fuselage is "off centre" if you will by a few degrees. It makes it look like an ugly humpback but still looks mean as hell.
  13. It would a crying shame if we're unable to fully implement some of these classic IJN aircraft into DCS. I recently had the pleasure of getting up close to a Ki-100 and it was a really pretty aircraft. Something about that early WWII aesthetic I really love with Japanese aircraft. The N1K is also a really excellent fighter which would be a great addition. Boggles the mind that so much information was lost, but I guess Japan was devastated to such a degree from the war that the conservation of doucments pertaining to these aircraft was probably not at the forefront of peoples worries at the time.
  14. This is a point I feel isn't pushed enough. It was envisioned for a very different role, to say a Ka-50. The latter is a dedicated attack helicopter which specialises in taking out enemy armour and other assets from range (typically speaking). The Hind was designed to insert ground forces and provide overhead support at the same time. It's a somewhat unique blend of a transport and attack helicopter, the likes of which we haven't really seen imo since. I've been a huge fan of the Mi-24 design since I was a young lad, it's such an intimidating machine and I can't wait to get my mits on it!
  15. For sure. I was positive it was bricked, but I had a guy reach out on Reddit and say he had a similar issue and told me roughly how he fixed it. Working like a charm now. To say I'm relieved is putting is mildly!
