  1. The required RAM amount should decrease with a lower pre-load radius, as well as settings of graphical textures or whatever else is stored in RAM - so I guess it heavily depends on your settings.
  2. Can't you just turn on invulnerability within the general in game settings? I've used that for some other campaigns, as a way to ease my way into aircraft which I've been far from confident in. Having to successfully doge long range missiles or similar, while at the same time struggling with simple stuff, such as the radio, and thus pausing and flickering through the manuals constantly isn't a very pleasant experience. I've had to restart far too many missions because I've failed to identify an incoming missile while heads down, playing with knobs I don't quite understand. It's very frustrating :crash: and feels like a real hindrance to the learning aspects when you get thrown into too deep water all at once, and end up learning nothing because you simply die in the middle of it. Since then I've began to leave invulnerability on while trying to learn the basics. Once you feel that you've got controls of the basics, you can always turn the invulnerability back off and soar like a true pilot :pilotfly:
  3. I assume that the dev team is taking some time off, to spend time with their families. It's Christmas and new years eve, a time for family and friends, not work. I'm also experiencing these issues, and yes, it's fairly annoying - but the dev team are humans too. I guess you could always give the stable version a try if the flickering is too big of an issue for you to play the game, as we'll be waiting for some time for the next patch. Hopefully it's an easy fix, and not something which will take too long to see resolved once they're back in office :)
  4. I just flew the Viggen and accidentally hit the brake - and it registered ^^ I had to come back here to check if there had been an update, and yes - yes it had. Thanks a bunch, it works now! :)
  5. I've never really been stoked for a DCS campaign before, but this is almost too good to be true. I've always wanted to properly utilize the Warthog, but it's by far the most intimidating aircraft I've tried to learn. I've had mixed results at best. Having a more proper and thought through path to follow and ground the learning process to, that in itself is an incredible help - and I look forwards to it with excitement.
  6. Is it really fixed though? It's still not working for me, as I cannot get any kind of authority with the axis wheel brake option. It works with the only with the separate left and right axis brake, but not with the sole "wheel brake" axis option
  7. I found the files when looking through the files on the drive earlier, but could not find them in the actual game. I didn't know I had to go through the mission editor, so thanks a bunch! :)
  8. I don't really care for the realism. I just want to fly around alone or possibly with some friends and have fun with the virtual toys within this game. I don't care whether anyone else flies a full fidelity aircraft or any of the much more simplified FC3 planes. To me, all of these "realism" vs "fun" aspects could be as simple as the label vs no label debate. I was a long time label user, as I had a hard time of getting into the game. The learning curve was so steep that I had issues looking away from my hud to track threats. Today, I generally don't use it anymore, but I do have some friends who simply will not play without them. Some out of simple preferences, some due to lack of experience within the game, and some due to poor vision. Heck, sometimes even I use it if I experience eye strain and cannot focus well enough. Most competitive online servers for obvious reasons force labels off with its global server settings and that is absolutely fine, just as it "should" be. That said, it's still nice to have the option to use the labels in your own lobby, on your own terms, with your own friends. I promote having options, options of all kinds, and I do not mind straying away from hardcore realism for the sake of enjoyment and accessibility. If I want to let people use labels on my server, it should be my decision. If I want to allow people to use quick-start options for the A-10C, it should be my decision, if I want people on my server to not be allowed to fly FC3 Aircraft, that is my decision. I promote having all kind of options, but also promote the possibility of having global server settings, capable of overriding most, if not all local settings. You should be able to fly on a server with settings you enjoy and if you cannot find one - host one yourself for you and your friends.
  9. This may be a stupid question, but where can I find the 10 single player in-air start practice missions? I can find the campaign, but cannot seem to find the practice missions anywhere in the game :s
  10. Annoying that it's been like this for more than a year now, with no sign of this ever getting any kind of attention from the developer. My right toebrake is broken on my pedals, so I can only use the left one. I've got a button on my hotas bound to wheel brake, but I'd much rather be able to bind my left (working) toebrake to break both of the wheels. I can do this is the other planes, and really miss it on the Viggen..
  11. I love how the developers acknowledge this issue, which potentially could be addressed - because it is an issue. I generally do not have much of an issue with flickering lights or similar, but I easily get nauseous from stuttering or quickly varying refresh rates. Some people say that you won't notice it while flying, but I can barely even watch the current youtube-videos where the F-14 are being showcased. The HUD puts me off and distracts. I love the F-14, it's a childhood dream of mine to get to fly one, and DCS will be as close as I'll ever get to flying one. With the realistic, slow refresh rate of the HUD however, I believe my enjoyment of the module would decrease immensely.
  12. You helped fulfilling one of my biggest dreams, you helped giving me the ability to fly - thank you. Now it's your turn to fly. Rest in peace
  13. I didn't really think I would like the harrier as much as I did. I'm not very good at DCS. I don't really have the time nor patience to on my free time sit down and properly read through manuals, and I tend to change Aircraft quite frequently instead of properly learning one before switching to another module. When I play DCS, especially with the proper, more complex modules I tend to mainly fly around, navigate through a path of waypoints and every now and then try and employ the weapons on a not too frightening target. Doing exactly this in the Harrier, it's incredible. The plane flies like a dream. The vectoring of the nozzles make it very different from the other modules, giving it characteristics like no other plane in the game has. The aircraft is nowhere near as complex and punishing as I expected and I can honestly say that I am having a blast learning this Aircraft. My favorite aircraft thus far has been the AJS-37 Viggen, but with some more time, spit and polish from RAZBAM, I do not see why their AV-8B would not be a possible replacement of my long loved Viggen.
