  1. If I've got this correctly, DCS A10 Warthog is made possible because the US military wanted a high realism sim for (presumably) training of one sort or another of its pilots. If this is the case then again presumably huge amounts of performance data, weapons capabilities, avionics systems, US tactics etc have been made available to ED/DCS. Is all such data freely available? I understand that the A10 has been around since the '70's and that a lot of info has been declassified since. As a percentage of what we see in the sim vs real life, how realistic is the DCS A10C? I suspect we may never know how much is "omitted" and so there is little point in asking but I can still wonder. Now I realise things have moved on from the cold war and the world political map is very different today, which would explain why Russian developers are now able to access sensitive data which previously would have been out of the question. It just raises a few queries for me: Are the developers under some strict SC (security clearance) rules or is this info "freely" available? How much of what we see in the sim is how it is in real life? Given that the A10C is very much in active service in Afghanistan, does any of what we see in the sim in any way jeopardise effectiveness/lives of people out there? I'm very grateful for the sim and for all EDs hard work, its fantastic but I just wondered how we as mere mortals are able to gain access to such a highly detailed simulation. It also makes me query the feasibility/suitability of future DCS modules/sims and what we're likely to see in the future for the same reasons. Apologies if this has been discussed before, perhaps I have too much time on my hands currently due to unemployment!
  2. Thats a quick mission edit to remove the static A10s.
  3. Im sure when Black Shark was in development DCS said they would do the Apache and the A10 in addition to the KA50. Whats changed now? The Apache wouldve been my primary choice out of anything anyway. I was/am especially looking forward to the prospect of getting one of my friends to sit in the front or back seat and playing true coop.
  4. Tutorial text/speech problems It seems that I have trouble syncing myself with the tutorial messages. Sometimes I'm ahead of the game, sometimes way behind... In the Plane familiarisation one for example I'm way ahead of the speech, complete the task then the sound files are played on top of each other when the next set of text is presented. Would it not be better to have the old sound file stopped when it starts the new one? Given that its normally event triggered before the script continues couldn't this be implemented without too much hassle? Perhaps the feature already exists, but if not can we have the option to repeat the previous mission text/speech if the event hasn't yet been completed? If it is already possible, how would I do this? Why? Because when confronted with a wall of text I like to ensure I get all the details, right now they disappear whilst I'm still finding the buttons etc.
  5. Are you alt tabbing? I'm having similiar issues
  6. its fluctuating a lot... anything from 170 - 800 at peak more often 500Kb/s 11/30 seeds and 80/206 peers.
  7. Max bandwidth download is normally around 14-16.5 mb/s Upload is 1mb/sec Oh and torrents always start slowly so give it time to connect to all the seeders, you will soon see your download speeds increase to a decent level (provided your firewalls arent blocking your torrent software!)
  8. Oh and whilst on the subject of torrents: I have my upload limited at 60KB/s so I can play BF2 Project Reality whilst I wait for the download, will that affect the max speed of my torrent download?
  9. Downloading now at 800-900 kB/s using the torrent... ETA 1hr 30 at the moment.
  10. Has anyone got profiles for the Saitek X52 Pro throttle/joystick/rudders? Also I'd be interested in profiles for TrackIR 4/5 for use with DCS Warthog. I dont suppose there are already X52 profiles provided in the game as "standard"?
  11. Harrier or Eurofighter, but whats become of the planned AH64 Apache with multiplayer coop? I want that more than anything and had hoped we'd get that after the DCS A10.
  12. Ok, I've answered this one myself with a bit of investigation... Easy job, just need a small phillips/ pozidrive screwdriver and about 5 minutes. Unscrew the 8 screws in the base of the throttle unit. (two are under the "sticky feet") in the base of the throttle unit that you are now able to remove, you will most probably see some "gooey grease" in which there is a "floating" plastic lug. Remove this lug and put to one side, it has two springs in it. It is this sprung plastic piece that presses against the throttle spindle which in turn has lugs that cause the restriction in movement when the spindle rotates with thottle movement by the user. Reassemble the base, ensuring that you get the correct screws in the correct holes (they are different lengths) the two short ones go nearest the friction wheel, the longer ones go in the centre of the baseplate and the four medium ones go in the four corners! Hey presto, no detents.
  13. Hey peeps, I was hoping a few of you know how to remove the throttle detent restrictions from my x52 Pro throttle. I find them so annoying in any game I want to use the joystick with, especially in BS. So ideally I'd like to have just a smooth throttle movement without the two "restrictions". So how is it done? :smartass: Unscrew the 8 screws in the base of the throttle unit. 14. Depends on the target, but for AAA and small arms positions, that are not easily visible its good to be shot at first in order that you can first pinpoint where the enemy is. Keep fast, keep transversal velocity (ie don't fly directly towards or away from them) and never fly in the same trajectory for very long. Once you have located their position, get out of their firing range and then engage from a distance, or set yourself up for a manually flown attack run using the terrain to your advantage to mask your high-mid speed approach. The process can be simplified with a wingman. One of you (Pilot A) stands off the target area from a distance, whislt your mate (pilot B) acts as "bait" to draw fire to give away the enemies position by overflying the target area, the now visible target is then acquired and destroyed from Pilot A.
  15. Thank you Jim. Don't suppose you can confirm whether or not the original Lock On is available as a digital download. It seems strange that you offer the Flaming Cliffs on download but you dont offer the original game that requires it. Even the Ubisoft website doesn't even list Lock On, you just get a broken link to the French site. What if someone has a scratched cd/dvd and needs to re-install etc, they dont want to wait a week, they want to get it sorted asap. It's crazy, I'm not having a go but I don't understand why your distributors make it so hard to buy your products. Yes I know I'm being pedantic about wanting a digital download for such an old product so demand probably isnt that high, but surely you want to be able to make the most money possible out of your hard work. Yes, I can buy it at a shop or via mail order and have it within a week, but I just don't get why in this day and age you wouldn't make it available through your site. How long would it take to upload the LOMAC files into the existing LOMAC website and list it on your e-shop for download? I would guess only a couple of hrs max. I have no idea how much revenue you would get from it, but you may get some passing interest from people like myself who never played Lock-On but are intrigued because of Black Sharks amazing experience. Please excuse me if it seems like a rant, its not my intent it just seems odd to me. You have a fantastic creation in Black Shark, don't you think you'd get some born again interest in the parent of Black Shark?
