  1. I actually think this game is great if you look past the whole Arma 2 thing, you just need to consider this simulation in terms of games like search&rescue, what TOH does great is what the developers originally intended, Pick up game entities, ferry objects and complete tasks in a given time. It just happens the Bohemia Interactive team only have one open world engine at the moment so they used the Arma engine but that's also a plus because the tools are available to make all sorts of wacky missions, it's very versatile engine. Myself I am working on a small Flooded area victims recovery type mission, perhaps others will make a forest fire fighting mission or perhaps a cost guard rescue mission at sea, yet others will make a Close Air Support mission. The point is I think alot people within the Arma Community keeps thinking of TOH as a Arma addon with more advanced helicopter physics but in reality this is a completely different game otherwise they would of made it into an official Addon to Arma, its just a bonus that we can use all the assets (islands, weapons etc) with the latest patch. my 2ct Btw the Draw distance and clouds are amazing.
  2. No way!! I just bought this thing when it was 37% off, should of waited a few more days.
  3. A small but very vocal(loud) members here scream for F-18's however those images of the F-15 surely say realistically the F-15 is alot closer to reality then most other birds. hope to see the F-15A/B/C become a DCS title in the near future. FC3 will surely create a complex environment to fly in, can't wait!!!
  4. Bought it, thanks for the heads up, supporting sims no matter where they come from since 1996 :D
  5. Oh man where is the popcorn when you need it!
  6. Just so that others know, This DLC sold via BIS.Studios site works with the Steam Version if you use the Six.Updater. however you'll need to add it manually(ADD - under the mods section). Also something nobody is talking about is the shooting range, very similar to the ARMA III shooting range demonstration. short but very cool DLC
  7. I understand Combined Arms is not going to be Steel Beasts, but some basic stuff should be added eventually. Repair Trucks (for when your Tank is damaged) - No idea if this will be simulated Ammo Supply - Your Tanks don't have Unlimited Ammo do they? Fuel Truck - Those Tanks have really good mileage, NOT combat engineers - hey that A-10 busted that nice Bridge we wanted to cross If you have to drag these critical assets with you in order reach your objective then you'll be more careful about when and how you move across the battlefield, otherwise what fun will it to tank rush the enemy RTS style. Likewise you can cripple the opposing team by limiting his's/her's reach by destroying their equipment. I do hope we're able to track assets/killed supply parts and be able export it to a spreadsheet so that we can have a multi-zone (human-controlled) champagne.
  8. My 2ct If the intent is to create a realistic combat environment then why cut corners to cheapen the experience by removing a very important strategic component of combat. A few choice quotes to remind you how important logistics is to the overall simulated combat experience from real world peoples. "Clearly, logistics is the hard part of fighting a war." - Lt. Gen. E. T. Cook, USMC, November 1990 "Amateurs talk about tactics, but professionals study logistics." - Gen. Robert H. Barrow, USMC (Commandant of the Marine Corps) noted in 1980 "The line between disorder and order lies in logistics…" - Sun Tzu "Forget logistics, you lose." - Lt. Gen. Fredrick Franks, USA, 7th Corps Commander, Desert Storm
  9. Hey panther265, thanks for the Input, currently its beyond my grasp to write any kind of program beyond a dos batch file. I feel Ideas and concepts are a dime a dozen and everybody has them, However it takes a special brand of people with real skills to bring what's on a napkin and turn it into reality. But I hope it inspires someone to write such a program, It's what I wish I could do if I could. credit goes to those who Do cheers, Tank000
  10. Whoa Evontroy!, it is very much a large challenge to take up. I'm eagerly looking forward to what you produce. cheers mate. tank000
  11. Greetings all, I see we have alot of great programmers here in the community, of all the apps that have been created already to work in conjunction with BlackShark, why no Multi-Monitor app?. Possibly something with a Slider or custom input values box that allow for changes to the LUA file in a more visual way. I'm no programmer so I would not not know where to begin but some of you are and I'm sure would gather recognition from the community for such an App. what it "might" look like I know I would greatly appreciate it and use it. thanks for any input Tank
  12. yeah the AI comms have always been a weak point for DCS games hope in the future we'll see more interactive communications between AI elements and user too. The best I recall was Janes FA18 sim that sim was chat heavy, alot of data to process but it really added to the simulation.
  13. As a owner of the PS3 eye I say it works very well, FT does not allow more then 30Fps btw but it never dips below 30 using PS3Eye, unlike my old logitech vt1000 webcam that drops frames if I move to fast. Don't forget the cost of the blue tooth adapter for use with the Wii (20 bux) PS3eye is solid for FT and low on CPU hit, just put a floppy disk film in front of it(IR Filter) and your set to go.
