  1. This all gives me flashbacks to the F-15E release debacle. I made this video then, and it still makes me laugh. https://www.captiongenerator.com/v/2289848/the-fuhrer-learns-that-the-f15e-is-delayed
  2. I'm having trouble calibrating the Orion 2. I don't have the finger lift kit (long story) and the Orion 2 has no physical detents. This makes it very hard to judge off, idle, max mil and AB positions. I tried calibrating the RY axis and now the software detents seem to be messed up. Moving the axis all the way back used to trigger button 2. Now it seems stuck in 31 and I'm not sure how to reset that button, which is pretty important, as it is the detent for off. In DCS, the max throttle setting for both engines seemed to be 96%, so even though AB was triggered, it didn't seem to get to max AB. Can someone please explain this as if I was a 5 year old? Apologies in advance and thanks. EDIT: PROBLEM SOLVED
  3. My big brother died in June at the age of 51 after a year long courageous struggle against AML. His loss has rocked me to my core and I've been fluctuating between being in denial, filled with rage, desperate, anxious and deeply sad. I've suffered tremendous loss before. Friends, comrades, my father...nothing has hit me like the loss of my brother. I'm haunted by the memories of past times and crushed by the loss of future hopes and dreams. My grief has stripped me of all desire to fly like never before. I think about climbing into my rig to take flight, but I cannot find the desire, motivation or excitement that I once had. While my love for DCS will never subside, my passion for it seems to be at its lowest ebb and I've been flying since the Flanker and earliest of LOMAC days. I hope this is temporary and is only a symptom of my general lack of focus and apathy toward pretty much everything in the world. I wonder how long I'll be adrift like this. I'm not sure why I'm posting this. Maybe I just need to vent? Maybe there is someone else out there feeling as lost and hopeless as I am? Maybe some of you will find this dark road I am on familiar?

  5. The part about me complaining about it. Are we finished here yet?
  6. Sinai had major hype by YouTubers before Normandy 2.0 was released. Then nothing. Also, maps usually go straight to release without pre-order period, so, no. You’re wrong.
  7. My apologies. I didn't know it meant I couldn't have an opinion anymore.
  8. ...and another week goes by with a worthless end of week recap. No updates. No news. Not even a mention of the Strike Eagle or even the Sinai Map that they also built tremendous hype behind only to go silent. ED always thanks us for our passion, while seemingly doing everything they can to kill it. At least, that's how i'm feeling at the moment.
  9. The hype train died for me. As if the razbam cold start video “tease” of a July EA date after being told “it’s coming in hot” wasn’t bad enough, ED coming into the forums after the fact stating there still isn’t a date and they’ll let us know when they have one, was the nail in the coffin for me. There is such a disconnect between ED, Razbam and the community. I’ve moved on. I’m relearning the A10. The strike eagle will just be another picture on the bottom of my main page when it finally comes. They totally killed my excitement for the module.
  10. Brother...I'm not trying to argue with you. I appreciate everything you and the ED team do and I know you have a very difficult and often times thankless job. However, your response just doesn't make any sense. I wish you and the team could just acknowledge that the communication has been confusing at best and conflicting at worst. Starting with "imminent" in December 2022 and going downhill since then. Finally, RAZBAM teases a ridiculous (under the circumstances) July 2023 EA date in the official Cold Start video, followed by you coming here to say, in essence, "there is no date and when we feel comfortable with one, we'll tell you." Can't you see objectively how crazy, misleading, and as a result - frustrating that is? Seriously, by any objective standard it's a total goat rope. I make these points because I love DCS and I want to see ED improve. I'm not angry, I'm not shouting and I'm not pointing any fingers. I'm not demanding a refund and what else am I going to continue to do, but wait, like everyone else...except for all those youtubers. I just ask that you try to view the situation from outside the sandbox and see it from our perspective. I know that is sometimes difficult to do.
  11. This just adds to the state of confusion and frustration. If you don't have a date yet, why on earth did Razbam tease a July date in the Cold Start video? That July tease is what has triggered this crap-storm. Yet here you are saying once a date is known it will be revealed. By saying there is no date, what exactly are you now suggesting? Could it be June? Could it be August? September? I guess anything goes. Regardless, this conflicting messaging is what drives everyone up a proverbial, and I guess in some instances, a literal wall. it is simply mystifying. The left hand needs to figure out what the right hand is doing and they both need to get on the same page before anything is communicated. ED has been failing at this for years. Its either done on purpose or is a result of utter incompetence. I'm not sure which would be worse.
  12. Not at all. I'm happy to see the content. The problem is in the reveal of the date. RAZBAM is clearly aware of the intense anticipation for this module, the long road it has been, the clamoring for release date information and the expectation that upon release of the official cold start video, the wait would not be long. Revealing that the release is still some ways off to a date in July, possibly even toward the end of that month, was callous and not very thoughtful. I think some form of a press release, giving details of the state of the module, acknowledging the long wait and perhaps explaining the reason why release must still be more than two months away, would have been much more prudent, understandable and would have assuaged some of the frustration over such a surprising reveal.
  13. RAZBAM really needs to brush up on the art of the tease. Typically, you want a teaser to excite and motivate your target audience, not deject and piss them off. Did they really think revealing a July release date in this manner through the official Cold Start video would make anybody gleeful with anticipation? They really weren't joking when they said this was the "year" of the Strike Eagle. However, it would have been more accurate if they said, "you'll be waiting another year for the Strike Eagle".
  14. It looks like Spud's video has been taken down or made private. Perhaps he jumped the gun and stole their thunder?
  15. Yeah...no way. A highly anticipated release like this will be announced in advance to squeeze the max out of pre-orders. Perhaps Sinai Map? But that may be wishful thinking too...
  16. We've gone from "imminent" to "getting close" to "very soon" ...translation... Two weeks.
  17. Exactly...I mean a post that says, "we're getting close now" is absolutely meaningless in DCS-land, particularly when in December 2022, release was described as "imminent". Wouldn't that be described as close? How much closer are we now then? For the record, I have nothing negative to say about ED or Razbam. I'm dedicated to both. I just wish they were more careful and considered in their messaging, that's all.
  18. That is ridiculous. If that were the case, they would NEVER announce a date. Otherwise, something unforeseen could always happen and delay it. This clearly is not the case, as they always give notice of the date so people can buy at the pre-order discount. Because in December 2022, they said the release was "imminent". Then, when EA was announced, they said a "few months" away and likely sooner. I'm surprised you're surprised.
  19. They apparently have a date. Why they wouldn't reveal it in this Friday's newsletter is beyond me. I agree...its getting old.
  20. Remember…in DCS, even “imminent” can mean six months to a year.
  21. This is exactly how I felt about the Tomcat. The early access unveil trailer had me in tears. lol
  22. I wonder if ED wants the release of this map to coincide more closely with the release of the Strike Eagle. Maybe at some point offer a combo sale, sort of like they did with the Hornet and Super Carrier modules. I hope there is no connection because the Strike Eagle is already well overdue with no telling when we’ll actually get to fly it.
  23. The hype for this map was really building with preview videos from content producers on youtube, etc. I really thought release was right around the corner and then seemingly out of nowhere, Normandy 2.0 takes front and center. This seemed surprising. What happened? Has something occurred to delay the release of this map? Since Normandy 2.0, I haven't seen much about the status of Sinai. Is there any further news on when we can expect to see it? Thanks!
  24. I have the P3, but I am new to it. Just finished initial assembly last week. When it works as I expect it to, its amazing. However, these things are not plug and play and require a lot of tweaking, modification and trial and error. They come with no real instructions and the videos on youtube for assembly, while generally good, leave some very important questions unanswered and some steps unclear. Even so, assembly is the easy part. It is the balancing and setting up with the software that is really the difficult and sometimes frustrating part. if you can accept this, they are great. i disagree with the last poster that H2 with pitch and roll is enough for flight. You at least want 3 DOF...pitch, roll and yeah. Some will argue the 6 DOF rigs are even better for flight...they add heave, sway and a combination of all axis to the mix. Overall, I'm happy with the 3 DOF for now, but it is nice that they can be upgraded later on.
  25. Well, I just assembled my DOF Reality P3 a few days ago and have been configuring it, balancing it, testing it and tweaking the software settings. Building it was actually the easy part. These things are not simply plug and play and do require a lot of tinkering, modification and trial and error, but that first flight? Wow. I'm still pulling my thoughts together. Adding a physical dimension to virtual simming is something entirely new to my senses. It is definitely going to take some getting used to and it is going to take some time to learn the SRS software in order to tweak the settings properly to balance the most authentic and yet comfortable motion experience. Just as VR was a huge leap over trackIR, the DOF motion rig is another giant leap forward for me. It is another essential step in the never-ending pursuit of the most authentic flight experience available from the comfort of my home.
