Ive got no idea how the real radar works or should work, so im just guessing here; maybe each bar overlaps slightly thus resulting in a smaller volume. What happens if you do a 1 bar search and run the same calculations?

I need help figuring this mode out, my bombs always seem to go long and i don't think its just the radarcross being out of alignment. Because even when nav bombing, with either the target-point set in the mission editor or placed with the radar, the bombs always go long. Attached is a track of me trying four different ways of using the RR mode in OB build 2.5.4.26825, First is a regular nav bomb on the waypoint placed in the mission editor. first two bombs hit, rest go long Second is a toss bomb on the same waypoint, goes long (could be due to my execution) Third is a radar release on a second group which goes long and last is another level Nav bomb with the waypoint placed on the second group using the radar, which also goes long. In the end i verify that the targetpoint is more or less on the targets. I don't expect pin point accuracy with any of these delivery methods but I'd at least thought the bomb track would be somewhat centered on the target, as it is now, the first bombs seem the hit and the rest go long. While the update is in progress there is a temp folder with all the torrent files as well as all the downloaded packed data files in the download folder within the main dcs install folder. Once the download is complete the updater stops the torrents and unpacks the downloaded files, once that is complete the updater deletes the torrents and the downloaded packed files, saving space but preventing you from seeding. I copied all the torrent files as well as what it had manage to download just before the download finished and before the updater deleted anything and moved them from my SSD to my HDD and then started all the torrents again with a torrent client (Deluge). I have so far seeded about 2 terabytes worth of 2.5 files since yesterday evening at 30 MB/s. It would be nice if the updater gave you the option to keep the install files and keep seeding once the update is complete.

They're speed holes, they make the plane slow down faster

Came across this whilst googling: Seems like that turbine drives two hydraulic pumps directly and not an electric generator.

The rear cockpit in the mig 31 has a rudimentary extendable stick and a throttle, so yes the WSO can fly the plane. Not sure how much they actually do though, or if its just for emergencies. Cant imagine that there is much visibility out the rear cockpit on the mig 31, even with the periscope. Aren't all Mig-31s dual seaters? -

its a periscope so the back-seater can see forward, like so: -
What are the numbers given to you by the tower when you takeoff?
Cp replied to guitarxe's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
No, If the ATC meant 30 000 feet it would say "flight level 300". The ATC in this game is Russian no matter what side you are playing on or what language the ATC actually is talking in. In Russian aviation they use the metric system so when the tower says 300, it means 300 meters (about 1000 feet). Basically, The tower is instructing you to continue on the runways heading until you've reached an altitude of 300 meters QFE (1000 feet above the ground) and then continue on your own navigation. -
Its kinda hard taking off from a WASP class ship with an F-22 and even harder landing back on it. :P

Why don't tanks have periscopes for turret down?
Cp replied to guitarxe's topic in Military and Aviation
Remote controlled weapons are becoming more and more common on tanks and other vehicles, like the CROWS on the M1 Abrams TUSK. That should be sufficient to see above things turret down and all. Periscopes on land vehicles do exist though, Like the one on the fennek recon vehicle: -
Perfect harmony? I thought helicopters were just a a bunch of loose rotating parts flying in close formation? :D

Very fake, those engines don't even make sense, Here's the original. -
The odd looking nose contains a radio antenna/dish used for sending steering commands to its radio guided ataka-V anti-tank missiles.

Here's a test mission I just whipped up, I'm fairly sure something like this has already been tried along time ago. Anyway, the triggers are simple, one trigger zone covers the entire airfield (taxiways and all) and then multiple ones cover the runway. The trigger activates when you going faster than 30m/s (100km/h-ish), lower than 60 feet and inside the large airfield zone and outside any and all of the runway zones. Simply put, it checks that you at the airfield, on the ground, not on the runway and doing more than 100Km/h. Once triggered, it deactivates you and sends you a message. Seems to be working in single player (there are two client slots, so you could test in multiplayer) I know there's been issues with deactivating other players in multiplayer before, If deactivation doesn't work then you could try explosions or failures. Although that would most definitely create craters all over the taxi-ways. No-taxi-takeoffs.miz
