Also ordered day 1, no vinyl, just a Phantom shirt, nothing in sight yet (Netherlands).

similar performance as AIM-7L
There is no such thing as an AIM-7L - I guess you meant 7F?

TBH, 12nm seems a bit short for something that can go 30nm when launched from the ground
That's only assuming your limit is kinematics, which need not be the case. Maybe the Tomcat's radar just needs a huge return to persuade the Hawk to look in the right direction. This stuff is why proper documentation is needed.

No IRST Navy jets, although for some reason I also have a soft spot for the RF-4.

It's going to take a long time, we're very very unlikely to hear much before they release the F1M

I wonder how many people were around for the Tomcat release. Or the Mirage F1. Or the Viper (now that was a funny one - people got their shiny toy asap and they loved it right??? /s). Or pretty much any other highly anticipated module.

The link to the Discord server is in the first post of the thread here: https://forum.dcs.world/topic/290302-community-a-4e-c-v22-october-2023/ as well as on the Github repository the thread points to: https://github.com/heclak/community-a4e-c?tab=readme-ov-file
You need to create a Discord account to log in on whatever server, but that's it. If you don't want to install the app (I hate apps so I refuse to do so) you can just run it in your browser.

Same, the radar is the most lacking feature of the module still, and it's particularly problematic for an aircraft that carries decent Fox 1s as opposed to e.g. a Fishbed or Tiger.

As far as I know yes, but it does essentially zero damage so it's not worth it.
-
This also has a rough comparison against other aircraft of the era
-
It shouldn't be the case. I remember testing a few patches ago and the behavior was the complete opposite, in that the AI could drop and guide LGBs perfectly even without a JTAC or tpod.
-
Gaming mode slaves the gunsight pipper to targets you have locked up on radar, which is not correct.

It's easy to see where the issue is, and if this was a free mission fixing it would be trivial. Baron 1 has an advanced task to attack the player group, which defaults to true is overriding the RoE. I imagine this comes from having the attack order trigger between being on and off for the BFM sets later in the mission.
edit: @BIGNEWY The issue is even worse. In mission 1 Baron will attack you immediately upon mission start rather than setting up the fight first, making the mission essentially unplayable. The same happens also in the defensive setup in Mission 2. I don't feel like testing every single mission, but as is the campaign is near unplayable because of this.

Perhaps German ICE and Greek AUP had Harpoon but I don't think I've ever seen it mentioned for those.
As far as I know, in Germany the anti-shipping mission was flown by either the F-104 or Tornado carring Kormoran missiles

There were also trials in Italy, I imagine with the -S, although it was not adopted.

and F-5
Eh, the F-5E first flew in 1972 and the A that the Vietnamese flew is pretty different, much more so than just a slightly too modern RWR on the F-4E.

The final tasking was low level conventional attack using bombs and rockets prior to the type being phased out.
And it was one of the more capable Starfighters at that role (together with the later German and Italian ones).

IRL, all Tomcats are targets as soon as the wings move forward no matter the opponent.
This myth needs to die already. The Tomcat's wings swing forward between Mach 0.6 and 0.8 (source: the actual F-14 manual https://www.heatblur.se/F-14Manual/general.html#wing-sweep-system ).
If the wings are forward you're fighting exactly where the Tomcat wants to.

maybe even Greece, I'm not sure
Greece flew the Thunderflash until 1991 according to Wikipedia.
I'm not sure it makes sense to cross check with the IFE's list though, that leaves out a lot of options.

Eh the F-5 radar isn't exactly the most realistic representation in DCS, and even then it gets really mediocre at low altitude. If you want another comparison - for the Mig-21 it doesn't sound completely insane assuming you're at low altitude.

Can you quote a source for that data?
I can't track down a source but I have read Italian pilots saying that (I imagine at low-ish altitude because clutter?) the AIM-7 envelope was more limited by the radar range than the missile.

Yea but the controls that reverse at high AoA are the ailerons (like the Tomcat or Mirage F1 really), not the rudder
- 1
-
As far as I know, only the Greek F1CG carried 4 Sidewinders, and that variant is beyond the scope of the module.

Yea definitely, it's just worth remembering. On the other hand, the big about the Mig gunsight being terrible is still accurate even if for the wrong reasons

Any information yet on planned version ?
in DCS: F-104

Yeah to say the 104 would be competitive today is the overstatement of the century. It is fair to say that back in its day it was a competent air to air fighter though.
